        CBR(Case-based Reasoning) allows a reasoner (1) to propose solutions in domains that are not completely understood by the reasoner, (2) to evaluate solutions when no algorithmic method is available for evaluation, and (3) to interpret open-ended and ill-defined concepts. CBR also helps reasoner (4) take actions to avoid repeating mistakes, and (5) focus its reasoning on important parts of a problem. Owing to the above advantages, CBR has successfully been applied to many kinds of problems such as design, planning, diagnosis and instruction. This paper selects CAPP(Computer Aided Process Planning) for CBR application domain. CAPP is an essential key for achieving CIM. It is the bridge between CAD and CAM and translates the design information into manufacturing instructions. Although process planning is as important as engineering design and production in the overall manufacturing process, CAPP has received less attention than either design or production. In many firms process planning is still a predominately manual task. Most cases are partially different each other, not wholly. If casebase(CB) structure is flat, then redundancy problem and inconsistency problem are serious. These limitations are solved by hierarchical structure with inheritance. In implementing CAPP, manufacturing experiences of parts may be represented as cases. These cases representing process plan are stored in DDCB(domain dependent casebase). CBR typically uses only DDCB which has problem solving experiences. For reinforcing CBR ability, we add another CB, that is DICB(domain independent casebase) which has general domain knowledges. CBR has several research issues which can be divided into two categories : (1) static issues and (2) dynamic issues. The static issues are related to case representation scheme and case structure, that is, focus on CB which is a repository of cases. The dynamic issues, on the other hand, are related to case retrieval procedure and problem solving process, i.e. solution adaptation procedure. They are remained as future research tasks.

        ISDN, as the infrastructure for the economic development, is a high-tech digital network for various types of information communication services such as telephone for voice, HiTEL for data, and facsimile for image. This article reviews the relationship between information network and information communication services, the determinant factors for ISDN demand, and demand forecasting model. And ISDN demands in Pusan Area for 1993 to 2006 are forecasted. The major results of ISDN demand forecasting in this article are as follows : 1) The demand of ISDN telephone as a voice communication, will be 5.3kl(thousand lines) in 1996, 315.8kl in 2001, and 1,684kl in 2006. And the leased line will be 1.5kl in 1996, 10kl in 2001, and 43.5kl in 2006. 2) The demand of HiTEL and DNS value added service as a data communication, will be 3.48kl in 1996, 82.7kl in 2001, and 662kl in 2006. And the demand of facsimile, as an image communication will be 0.64kl in 2001, and 14.5kl in 2006. 3) Total ISDN demand will be 10.33kl in 1996, 409.1kl in 2001, and 2402kl in 2006. These results have some limitations. First, the data used in this estimation are not consistent, and some parameters referred from foreign used cases are not approved with real survey. Second, the forecasted demand covers only current information communication services, and it does not cover high-tech services such as intelligent service, personal service, and so on. The ISDN demand of these high-tech services are expected so negligible that it can not effect much on total ISDN demand during the studying period, because those services are on the developing step now. Therefore, the results of ISDN demand forecasting are supposed to help the investment planning of ISDN construction and the regional economic development planning of Pusan Area.

        늑간신경의 신경집종에 의한 늑간신경통 - 증례 보고 -

        Intercostal neuralgia is neuropathic pain that develops in the thorax and abdomen. It usually occurs as a result of injury or inflammation associated with the intercostal nerve triggered by trauma, surgery, or herpes zoster. Primary intercostal neuroma is a rare cause of intercostal neuralgia. A 69-year-old male patient without a history of thoracic trauma or surgery underwent repeated testing and intermittent treatment for refractory pain in the right chest and abdomen for several years. However, the treatment had limited effect. Abdominal computed tomography performed to diagnose recent pain aggravation revealed schwannoma of the 11th intercostal nerve. The patient’s pain was relieved following surgical excision of the tumor.

        Extraction of the mode shapes of a segmented ship model with a hydroelastic response

        The mode shapes of a segmented hull model towed in a model basin were predicted using both the Proper Orthogonal Decomposition (POD) and cross random decrement technique. The proper orthogonal decomposition, which is also known as Karhunen-Loeve decomposition, is an emerging technology as a useful signal processing technique in structural dynamics. The technique is based on the fact that the eigenvectors of a spatial coherence matrix become the mode shapes of the system under free and randomly excited forced vibration conditions. Taking advantage of the simplicity of POD, efforts have been made to reveal the mode shapes of vibrating flexible hull under random wave excitation. First, the segmented hull model of a 400 K ore carrier with 3 flexible connections was towed in a model basin under different sea states and the time histories of the vertical bending moment at three different locations were measured. The measured response time histories were processed using the proper orthogonal decomposition, eventually to obtain both the first and second vertical vibration modes of the flexible hull. A comparison of the obtained mode shapes with those obtained using the cross random decrement technique showed excellent correspondence between the two results.

        Rapid response calculation of LNG cargo containment system under sloshing load using wavelet transformation

        Reliable strength assessment of the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) cargo containment system under the sloshing impact load is very difficult task due to the complexity of the physics involved in, both in terms of the hydrodynamics and structural mechanics. Out of all those complexities, the proper selection of the design sloshing load which is applied to the structural model of the LNG cargo containment system, is one of the most challenging one due to its inherent randomness as well as the statistical analysis which is tightly linked to the design sloshing load selection. In this study, the response based strength assessment procedure of LNG cargo containment system has been developed and proposed as an alternative design methodology. Sloshing pressure time history, measured from the model test, is decomposed into wavelet basis function targeting the minimization of the number of the basis function together with the maximization of the numerical efficiency. Then the response of the structure is obtained using the finite element method under each wavelet basis function of different scale. Finally, the response of the structure under entire sloshing impact time history is rapidly calculated by synthesizing the structural response under wavelet basis function. Through this analysis, more realistic response of the system under sloshing impact pressure can be obtained without missing the details of pressure time history such as rising pattern, oscillation due to air entrapment and decay pattern and so on. The strength assessment of the cargo containment system is then performed based on the statistical analysis of the stress peaks selected out of the obtained stress time history.
