Ultrasonic tests are widely used for the nondestructive testing of concrete structures for the determination of compressive strength of concrete and detection of cracks. Because most of concrete structures intrinsically have steel reinforcing bars, the effect of steel bars on the use of the ultrasonic method can be important. In this paper, laboratory tests have been made to investigate the effect of the steel bars on the speed of ultrasonic wave. Results can be used for the development of conversion coefficient from ultrasonic test measurements to the compressive strength of concrete.

The use of Fiber Reinforced Polymers (FRP) is ever increasing for the purpose of retrofitting aging reinforced concrete structures or members. It is often imperative to find out the integrity of bonding between the FRP and concrete members. Any debonding could cause a possible catastrophic failure of the structures. In this study, an ultrasonic test has been conducted to detect such debonding in laboratory size concrete specimens. A transmitter at 5 kHz frequency is used and the results show that the method is good for detecting 2-4 mm thick debonding or delamination. Also, two-dimensional imaging has been conducted to analyze the results.

Ultra-sonic method are commonly used for concrete compressive strength test in a construction field, at present, various kinds of equation of strength are present, which have been used in a construction field, a strength test was carried out destructive test by means of core sampling. Non destructive test was conducted ultra-sonic method. The existing some equations for the estimate of compressive strength of concrete by non-destruction have some difference with measured data in this study. In this study, it is to suggested new equation for estimation of compressive strength to develop the application in our country's construction site.
