Although the fatigue design curve of ASME Code has enough margin with respect to alternating stress and cycles, the welding residual stress(WRS) should be included in fatigue analysis. In this paper, WRS distribution in a nozzle with dissimilar metal weldment was obtained by finite element analysis and was added in fatigue analysis. The fatigue analysis was performed by following the ASME Code including thermal and stress analysis applying with postulated 30 transient conditions. The calculated results of a cumulative fatigue usage factors(CUF) were compared for the case of the models with or without WRS effects. The results showed that the CUF at weldment and heat affected zone was affected by the WRS.
소평펀치시험을 이용한 고온수소침투 손상된 A53B 탄소강 배관의 강도 특성 분석

High temperature hydrogen attack (HTHA) is a damage process of grain boundary facets due to chemical reaction of carbides with hydrogen, forming cavities with high pressure methane gas. Driven by the methane gas pressure, the cavities grow to grain boundaries and form intergranular micro cracks. In this study, an example accident occurred at a recycle oil pipe of a heavy oil unit operated in Korea was studied. SP(small punch) test were performed with several types of test specimens directly machined from the accident pipe to investigate the characteristics of the mechanical property change in hydrogen attacked A53B carbon steel. The SP(small punch) test results show that maximum reaction forces, SP energy and ductility decrease at the hydrogen attacked part of the pipe compared with the outside data.

This study is performed to check the three dimensional characteristics of residual stress in the dissimilar metal weld. Although two dimensional analysis has been widely used for the assessment of weld residual stress, it has limitations to understand the stress distribution of the third direction. 3-D analysis was done to understand residual stress distribution of the welded plate. A simple butt-welded plate was considered to show the stress variation on all direction. A mock-up plate weldment was fabricated with SA-508 and F3l6L, which are widely used in nuclear power plants. The analysis results were validated with the measured values in the mock-up.
