        This study is focused on affect of filtering in seabed geometry, with steep slopes and smooth surfaces by processing four post-processing software programs, CARIS HIPS and PDS2000 and compared each post-processing program's filtering affects. MutiBeam EchoSounder System (MBES) survey was conducted to process large MBES data based on theoretical error analysis in Yokjido, the South Sea of Korea. Approximately 40 ㎞ survey lines were acquired by RESON SEABAT 7125 in Jan., 2008. The swath filter which is divided into spike detection, swath reduction and sonar quality showed different results by each parameter in the two post-processing programs. These filters affected well on the smooth surfaces but all of the factors were not needed. One of them Swath reduction was not affected in steep slopes. The efficiency of the CUBE algorithm was increased in its determination of the most likely depth. The tuned Parameters showed a more realistic estimation of the depth and increase the hypothesis strength, especially in those areas affected by steep slopes and rough seafloor. We need another approach could be followed using a median binned depth estimate to form an effective initialization surface after this.
