Bovine mastitis is an important microbial disease in the dairy industry. We investigated the frequencies of bacterial pathogens in 62 farms and pathogen antibiotic resistance from mastitis samples (n = 748). We tested the antimicrobial activity of chicken and duck egg white and lysozyme purified from chicken egg white. Moreover, we compared the microbiomes of normal and mastitic raw milk obtained by 16S rRNA gene pyrosequencing and culture methods. The results showed that the frequencies of Gram-positive pathogens (Enterococcus faecalis 37% and Staphylococcus aureus 36%) were higher than that of a Gram-negative pathogen (Escherichia coli 15%). Resistance frequencies to ampicillin and norfloxacin were lowest in Staphylococcus aureus (21%), Enterococcus faecalis (23%), and Escherichia coli (33%), and the antimicrobial activity of chicken egg white was higher than those of lysozyme and duck egg white. Pyrosequencing results revealed clear differences between the microbiomes of mastitic and normal raw milk samples and revealed a slightly similar, but clearly different, composition of pathogens compared to that from the culture method. Thus, pyrosequencing may be useful for elucidating changes in microbiomes during mastitis progression and treatment. A chicken egg white and antibiotic combination may help with mastitis treatment; however, further studies are needed.
설명 문장 생성을 통한 해석 가능한 시각적 질의응답 모델 분석

본 연구에서는 설명 문장 생성을 통한 해석 가능한 시각적 질의응답 모델을 설계하고 학습 방법을 제시한다. 설명 문장은 시각적 질의응답 모델이 응답을 예측하는 데에 필요한 이미지 및 질문 정보와 적절한 논리적인 정보의 조합 및 정답 추론 과정이 함의되어 있을 것으로 기대한다. 설명 문장 생성 과정이 포함된 시각적 질의응답의 기본적인 모델을 기반으로 여러 가지 학습방법을 통해 설명 문장 생성 과정과 응답 예측 과정간의 상호관계를 분석한다. 이러한 상호작용을 적극적으로 활용할 수 있는 보다 개선 시각적 질의응답 모델을 제안한다. 또한 학습한 결과를 바탕으로 설명 문장의 특성을 활용하여 시각적 질의응답 추론 과정을 개선함으로써 시각적 질의응답 모델의 발전 방향을 논의한다. 본 실험을 통해서 응답 예측에 적절한 설명 문장을 제시하는 해석 가능한 시각적 질의응답 모델을 제공한다.

Bovine mastitis (BM) has resulted in enormous economic loss in the dairy industry and coagulase-negative staphylococci (CNS) have caused subclinical BM. Although VITEK 2 GP ID card (VITEK 2) has been used for CNS identification, the probability of identification varies. The rpoB sequence typing (RSTing) method has been used for molecular diagnosis and epidemiology of bacterial infections. In this study, we undertook RSTing of CNS and compared the results with those of VITEK2 and 16S rRNA gene sequencing. As compared VITEK2, the molecular-based methods were more reliable for species identification; moreover, RSTing provided more molecular epidemiological information than that from 16S rRNA gene sequencing.
소 결핵 진단을 위한 인터페론감마 검사 키트의 성능 비교 평가

In Korea, bovine tuberculosis (bTB) is a representative zoonotic disease that causes considerable economic loss. In determining the positive bTB, the ELISA method for examining the amount of interferon- gamma (IFN-γ) is included in Korea’s diagnostic standard method. Recently, commercially available BIONOTE TB-Feron ELISA Plus (TB-Feron Plus) that detects IFN-γ has been introduced. However, since the scientific basis for the performance is limited, we evaluated performance by comparing it with the results of another IFN-γ ELISA assay kit (BOVIGAM <sup>Ⓡ</sup> ) certified by Office International des Epizooties. In our research, 42 positive blood samples preliminarily tested with a tuberculin skin test and/or BOVIGAM <sup>Ⓡ</sup> and 54 negative blood samples collected from three bTB free farms were subjected to IFN-γ assay using the TB-Feron Plus and the BOVIGAM <sup>Ⓡ</sup> , respectively. The result shows that the sensitivity, specificity and accuracy were 81.0% (34/42), 100% (54/54), 91.7% (88/96) in TB-Feron Plus kit and 78.6% (33/42), 100% (54/54), 90.6% (87/96) in BOVIGAM <sup>Ⓡ</sup> kit, respectively. Moreover, the overall accordance percentage of the two kits was 99.0% (95/96) and there was almost perfect agreement between two assays (Kappa=0.977, P<0.0001). Furthermore, additional studies confirmed that elevated lymphocyte numbers in blood did not interfere with the results of the TB-Feron Plus kit. And, delayed time from sampling to culture decreased the optical density (OD) value. Therefore, we concluded that the TBFeron Plus kit was not inferior to BOVIGAM <sup>Ⓡ</sup> in performance. High lymphocyte numbers in blood did not impact on TB-Feron Plus results, while delayed time before culture interfered with OD value.
