추사 김정희(1786~1856)는 조선후기 경학과 금석학, 고증학, 예술분야 등에서 당대에 지대한 영향을 끼친 19세기 대표적 지성이다. 따라서 그와 관련된 자료는 언제나 주목의 대상이다. 여기 소개하는 김정희의 암행보고서는 1826년(순조26) 충청우도암행어사에 임명된 김정희(당시 나이 41세)가 충청우도와 경기도 일부를 암행하며 해당 고을의 공과를 적어 조정에 올린 친필 보고서이다. 본 자료는 왕실기록자료인 『일성록』에 내용의 전반이 수록돼 있으나 일부표현에 차이가 보이고 기술의 순서도 일부 다르며, 특히 보고서 중 「서계(書啓)」 첫 면의 내용은 본 자료에만 들어있다. 본 자료는 두 가지 면에서 그 의의를 찾을 수 있다. 하나는 그동안 잘못 알고 있던 암행어사 임명시점이 새로 정정된다는 점이고, 다른 하나는 조정에 올리는 공식보고서에 나타난 추사체의 새로운 면모를 엿볼 수 있다는 점이다. Kim Chong-hui(1786-1856), whose pen name was Chusa, was a representative scholar who exerted great influence on confucianism, epigraphy, kojunghak(고증학) (a bibliographical study of Chinese classics) and arts in the 19th century who lived during the latter part of the Joseon Dynasty. Therefore, the materials related to Kim`s works are always the center of attention. This material that I`d like to introduce is the report on the specific province`s lives to the King written by Kim while travelling incognito as Amhaeng-Eosa(Secret Royal Inspector) at Choongchungwoo-do and some area in Gyeonggi-do in twenty sixth year of King Sunjo(1826). This material is also included in Ilseongnok(Daily records of the royal court and important officials in Joseon Dynasty), however, different in some expressions and the order of descriptions. Especially, the content of the first page in Seogye is only found out in this Report. This report have a great significance in two aspects. One is to correct the appointed year as the Amhaeng-Eosa that has been misunderstood, and the other is that we can see Kim`s new calligraphic style called "Chusache" in his report to the King.
