제주마(濟州馬) 씨수말의 방목지(放牧地) 행동(行動) Pattern에 관한 조사(調査) 연구(硏究)(2)

본 연구는 앞으로 우리 제주특별자치도의 마산업이 크게 발전함에 따라 말의 활용과 밀접히 관련있는 여가산업과 관광산업 또한 동반하여 발전하게 될 것으로 여겨지며, 이에 따라 매우 소중한 순수 동물유전자원중의 하나인 제주마에 대한 연구는 매우 큰 관심을 끌게 될 것으로 판단된다. 따라서 제주마의 기초적인 연구이면서 점차 폭넓게 활용이 될 씨수말의 행동연구를 통하여 제주마의 번식률 향상 및 말 사육농가의 소득증대를 위한 기초자료를 제공할 목적으로 수행 되었다. 말의 성행동, 즉 flehmen, 교배시도, 교배행동 등으로 구분하여 조사하였고, 연구기간은 2006년 4월부터 12월까지, 그리고 2007년 1월부터 7월까지 수행되었으며, 2006년 12월부터 2007년 3월까지는 축산진흥원내의 마사내에서 조사가 진행 되었고, 2006년 4월부터 11월까지, 그리고 2007년 4월부터 7월까지는 축산진흥원에서 관리하고 있는 견월악 방목지에서 조사가 진행되었다. 2006년에는 씨수말 No.1-23번이, 2007년에는 씨수말 No.1-30번을 대상으로 여러 행동양식에 따라 행동유형별 빈도와 지속시간을 정밀 측정 기록하였다. 수집된 조사자료는 통계프로그램인 SPSS 12.0(Chicago University, 1968)을 이용하여 분석하였다. 또 두 씨수말의 방목지 행동을 비교 검토하기 위하여 기술통계를 실시하였으며 두 씨수말의 행동에는 과연 변이가 인정되는지 여부를 검증하기 위하여 t-검정을 실시하였다. 본 조사연구에서 얻어진 결과를 요약 정리하면 다음과 같다. 성 행동 중 Flehmen은 씨수말 1-23번의 경우 발정이 시작되는 4-5월에는 1일 빈도가 약 25회, 6월, 7월에는 각각 약 11회 정도였으며, 11월에는 1일 약 4회 정도만 이뤄졌다. 씨수말 1-30번의 경우, 4~5월에는 1일 빈도가 약 11~18회 정도 이뤄지나, 6~7월에는 10회 이내로 감소했다. 방목이 시작되기 전인 2~3월에는 1일 1~2.5회 정도 flehmen이 행해졌다. 교배시도행동은 씨수말 1-23번의 경우, 4월에는 1일 빈도가 약 12회, 평균 지속시간이 약 31초, 5월에는 약 9.5회, 평균 지속시간이 약 34초, 6월에는 2.5회 평균 지속시간이 약 78초 7월에는 4.5회 평균 지속시간은 약 39초, 8월에는 약 1회 평균 지속시간은 약 10초로 빈도와 지속시간 모두 큰 폭으로 감소했다. 씨수말 1-30번의 경우 4월의 빈도가 1일 약 11회, 5월 약 14회로 증가하였으며, 6월에는 약 11회, 7월 약 6회 정도로 감소하는 경향을 보였다. 평균 지속시간은 4-5월에는 약 92초이며, 6~7월에는 약 76초 정도였다. 교배행동의 경우는 씨수말 1-23번, 1-30번 모두 1일에 1회 정도 이루어지며, 평균 지속시간은 씨수말 1-23번 약 10.40초 정도, 1-30번의 경우에는 약 17.25초 정도로 이루어졌다. 제주마 씨수말 2두의 방목지의 여러 행동들을 비교해 본 결과 두 말 간의 유의적인 차이는 인정되지 않았다. 이상으로 본 연구결과는 제주마 씨수말의 방목지 행동양식에 대해서 과학적인 기초자료를 획득 제공할 수 있었을 뿐만이 아니라 이번에 얻어진 연구결과는 장차 제주마의 번식률 향상과 번식관리기술 개선 및 말 사육 농가의 소득증대에 널리 활용할 수 있을 것으로 여겨진다. This study was made for helping to understand of the behaviour of the horse from Jeju by fundamental research of the horse of Jeju and its behaviors because domestic leisure businesses and the horse affair business which is one of the tourism business of Jeju will be developed, hence I concluded that the study of the horse of Jeju, one of the domestic pure breeds, will be focused. I divided the well known behaviors of it into 4 groups that are maintenance acts such as eating, drinking, urination and excretion, sexual acts such as flehmen, caress, attempts of mating and mating, relaxation acts while it is standing and sitting and moving acts. The duration of the study was from April to December in 2006 and January to July in 2007. And the research of behaviors was done in a pen in (Provincial Livestock Institute) from April to November in 2006 and another research was made in a grazing land governed by Provincial Livestock Institute in a grazing land from April to July in 2007. In using SPSS 12.0, a statistic program, I made data on the time of each type of behaviours of IN(Individual Number) 1-23 in 2006, IN 1-30 in 2007 based on the behavior style. To compare them and see whether there s any differences between them, I tried technical statistics and t-test. For moving acts, IN 1-23 showed over 40 times of it from April to July. And it became decreased in August to about 40 times and from September to November to about 30 times. The average time of it were about 200 seconds from April to August but from September to November, it moved about 55 seconds. For IN 1-30, moving acts were increased from 25 times that was from January to March to 40 times that was from April to July. For sexual acts, the frequency of the attempt act of the horse in 2006 were 12 times in April, 9.5times in May, 2.5times in June and 4.5 times in July. We could see that it was slightly increased from June to July. And the average time were 31 seconds in April, 34 seconds in May, 78 seconds in June and 39 seconds in July. The frequency and time of it in August were decreased to just once and 10 seconds. In 2007, the frequency of it was 11 times in April, 14 times in May, 11 times in June and 6 times in July. The average time of it were 92 seconds from April to May and 76 seconds from June to July. I could see that the mating was done once a day and the average time of it were about 10.40 seconds for one in IN 1-23. Flehmen was done 25 times from April to May when the horses begin sexual excitement in IN 1-23, 7 times in each June and July and only 4 times in November. In IN 1-30, flehmen was done from 11 to 18 times in April and May when the horses begin sexual excitement while it was decreased to 10 times in June and July. In February and March when were before starting sexual excitement, it was done only once to 2.5 times. There wasn t any differences between the two horses from Jeju in terms of the behaviours in a grazing land. I really hope that my study can help to developing the horse affair of Jeju even though it is not enough to understand all about horse behaviours.
