본 연구를 통하여, 제약 산업의 현황과 제약 도매상의 특정과 문제점을 도출하였다. 이를 통하여 제약 도매상의 경쟁력 강화 요인을 분석한다. 첫째, 중소도매상의 지원정책 수립차원에서의 노력이 필요하다. 둘째, 관행적 상거래 관습 개선이 필요하다. 셋째, 제약분야 전문유통인 양성을 강화하는 것이다. 넷째, 제약업체의 무분별한 제품 개발을 지양해야 한다. 결론적으로, 유통업적 관점에서 논의하고자 하는 관계로, 이론적인 논의를 가능한 한 지양하고, 실질적으로 실용학문으로서 제약 도매상 실무에 도움이 될 수 있도록 최대한 노력하였다. 그러나 본 연구도 실증적인 연구로서의 한계가 있다. 따라서 추후에도 지속적으로 제약유통구조 개선에 대한 지속적인 논의가 필요하다.

Out of changing business environmental factors, the logistics are presently considered as "the third element of profit" in the modern business management. The government planning authority concerned is encouraging an "integrated logistic system" as a form of recommendable solution thereof. However, most of the medium-small sized pharmaceutical companies are restricted by the fundamental problems. such as different distribution condition, various delivery requirement for the small production-large number of items, and uneven service policy of each company. In all above view, accordingly, this text came to the conclusion that the integrated logistic system may not be an optional solution in this case, which was derived from the careful investigation or analysis on the roles of logistics, some studies by the specialized laboratories, the current situation, and problems in front of the pharmaceutical industry. Countermeasures are as follows. First, expansion of the product co-marketing between companies. Second, application of joint distribution system allied between less than 3 companies(joint logistic service). Third, contracting agreement with the host wholesalers(s), for the high selling items. Fourthly, downsizing the logistic service to be run by the wholesalers. Fifthly, soliciting collaboration from the customers. In essence, the implementation of the fully integrated logistic system is esteemed doubtful for the medium-small sized companies by their nature, subject to the high supposition of remarkable reduction in turnover, no matter how much desirable that system could be anyhow.
