        유류로 오염된 점성토의 지반공학적 특성 분석

        This test was performed to evaluate the change of the unconfined compressive strength, strength parame¡?ters which resulted from direct shear test and oil residue percents analyzed by GC-MS as time lapse, oil addition. Unconfined compression strength of $10\%$ kerosene added by weight of dry soil recovered as time passed. In the case of $5\%$ kerosene added, the strength recovered as much as clean clayey soil after about 50 days passing. For the case of diesel added, the recovery of unconfined compressive strength was not shown even though about 60 days passed. The strength parameters (c, $\psi$) of kerosene added not changed but for diesel added, the cohesion was very decreased as diesel addition increased. Residual percent of kerosene in the soil was less than that of diesel as time passed.

        점토-플라이 애시 혼합물의 지반공학적 특성

        Although fly ash has possesses viable engineering properties, an overwhelming majority of fly ash from coal combustion is still placed in storage or disposal sites. This study was undertaken to investigate the physical and mechanical properties of clay-fly ash mixture and to furnish engineering data when fly ash utilized as engineering materials. This paper includes geotechnical properties of fly ash, clay-fly ash mixtures and results of compaction test, unconfined strength test, direct shear test, leaching test and stability analysis of clay-fly ash bank slope. If proper amount of fly ash was put in clay, the clay-fly ash mixture has an increase of unconfined strength and stability of bank slope.

        Fly ash is the unburned residue resulting from the combustion of coal in utility and industrial boilers such as thermal power plants. Annually about 5 million tons of fly ash is being produced in korea. Less than 25 percent of total volume of fly ash is currently being used effectively for some ways. In the future, the volume of fly ash discharge from thermal power stations will be increasing more and more, and the development of the utilization of high volume fly ash is required. Fly ash has a lower compacted density and specific gravity than coarse grained natural aggregates but equivalent strength properties indicating that the fly ash could be used as a structural fill materials. So, clay-fly ash mixtures can be used as a fill material in the construction of embankments. Laboratory tests have been carried out to determine the physical, chemical, and geotechnical characteristics of the clay and fly ash. The fly ash is mixed with the clay in different proportions and the geotechnical characteristics of the mixtures have been studied also. In this study describes the results of the experimental study. The implications of the use of clay and clay-fly ash mixtures on the stability of embankments are discussed.

      • 유류 오염 점성토의 강도 특성

        This study was conducted to evaluate effects by adding oil to clay soil and influences of remained oil in soil as time elapsed. Unconfined compression test and direct shear test were performed to analyze strength properties of contaminants in clayey soil. As a results of qu test for kerosene and diesel contaminated clayey soil indicate that were decreased from near 5% oil content rapidly and the declination of strength were blunt as oil content over 10%. The cohesions(c) and internal friction angle(□) of kerosene contaminated clayey soil were not varied as quantities of kerosene in clayey soil increased. In the case of diesel contaminated clayey soil, the cohesions(c) were decreased and the internal friction angle(□) were increased.

      • 관정(管井)의 배열수(配列數) 및 양수량(揚水量)의 상호관계(相互關係)에 관(關)한 실험(實驗)

        The purpose of this experiment is to determine the relations between numbers, arrangements and pumping rates of wells. In this experiment, well pipes were vertically set up in an artificial water-bearing sand layer of homogeneous quality. Wells were arranged in different ways and their number was varied in order to observe the variation of pumping rates. Sands were filled in a square tank, 183㎝×91.5㎝×91.5㎝ so as to secure a water-bearing layer. Water was constantly supplied from a supply tank located at an end of the tank. The number of well pipes was varied from one to four. Well pipes were connected by a horizontal header pipes were connected by a horizontal header pipe located above them and one pump was used. Pumping rates were measured, when they were arranged in longitudinal and lateral directions, They were also arranged in a square and triangle. The main results thus obtained are presented as follows: (1) When well pipes are laid out in a longitudinal line, i. e., in a flow direction, the ratios of pum ping rates of one-pipe well and wells 2-, 3- and 4- pipe t, are 1.903, 2.506 and 2.66, respectively. (2) When well pipes are laid out in a lateral line, i.e., in a perpendicular direction to flow, the same ratios as (1) are 1.912, 2.527 and 2.88. (3) When four pipes are laid out in a square and three pipes are laid out in a triangle, pumping rates are deereased, Comparing with the cases when pipes are laid out in a straight line.

        Although Fly ash possess viable engineering properties, an overwhelming majority of the fly ash from coal combustion is still placed in storage or disposal sites. Similarly, sludges generated from various water treatment operations are predominantly subject to the fate of land disposal. To prepare sludges for land disposal typically requires time consuming dewatering schemes, which can become extremely difficult to execute dependent upon the composition of the sludge and its affinity for water. This test was undertaken to reuse of fly ash and sludge with mix. In this paper includes of geotechnical properties of fly ash and fly ash-sludge mixture and results of compaction test, unconfined test, falling head test and CBR test and it was analyzed the effect on mixing fly ash with sludge.

      • 모래-벤토나이트 혼합물의 지반 공학적 특성에 관한 기초 연구

        The study was conducted in order to investigate the basic geotechnical properties of sand-bentonite mixtures with the various bentonite contents. The results obtained are as follows: 1. Optimum moisture content of sand-bentonite mixtures was approximately 17.10~18.52% corresponding to the maximum dry density of 1.58~1.64gf/cm<sup>3</sup>. As the bentonite contents and curing peroid increased, both the maximum dry density and optimum moisture content of sand-bentonite mixtures increased. 2. The unconfined compressive strength of sand-bentonite mixtures increased as the increase of bentonite content, but it did not change along the curing period. 3. The sand-bentonite mixtures ruptured at 8~15% of the axial strain and the maximum shearing stress was about 0.70kgf/cm<sup>2</sup>. 4. According to the increase of bentonite content, the cohesion intercept and internal friction of the sand-bentonite mixtures increased slightly in the shear test, while the cqhesion intercept increased largely, and the internal friction angle decreased largely in the triaxial test. 5. Both the initial void ratio and swelling of the sand-bentonite mixtures were very low with respect to the consolidation pressure increase. 6. The swelling and shrinkage of sand~bentonite mixtures increased slightly according to the increment of bentonite content.

      • 제체(堤體)의 침투유해석(浸透流解析)에 관(關)한 비교연구(比較硏究)

        In order to analyse the seepage flow problems through the dam, 39 kinds of models made were experimented according to the dam slope inclinations, the particle size of dam materials and the upstream water levels on the assumption that the flow is plane, steady and governed by Darcy’s law. The problems were analysed and compared by adapting the experiment, the conventional methods, the fragment method and the relaxation procedure. The results obtained are as the follows: 1. The seepage line gradients were steep in proportion to the rise of the upstream water level and the increment ratio is disposed to decrease as the easiness of the dam slope inclinations but the particle size of the dam materials were not influenced to the variations of the seepage line gradients. 2. The dam slope inclinations were in direct ratio to the seepage line gradients but the length of outcrop surface was in inverse proportion to it. 3. The position of outcrop point was upward tendency at the downstream slope surface as the rise of upstream water level and its height was approached to approximately 1/4-1/3 of the upstream water level. 4. The experimented and calculated results of the seepage line shape were in almost similar form each other and the equipotential lines were proved the perpendicular arc to the flow line. 5. The experimental seepage quantities were more than the calculated values and Schoklitsch’s values were closed to the experimental values. 6. The seepage line for the zone type section was similar to the cubic curve and the outcrop point was not appeared outward of the downstream slope surface. 7. In this seepage flow analysis, the conventional methods and fragment method were recognized to its validity of the applications in the field of seepage analysis of dam bndy. Especially, the relaxation technique were assured more rapid convergence to the desired value than any other methods and this method was possible to adapt the seepage flow analysis of the nonhomogeneous porous media. In the future, more rapid and correct solutions for the seepage flow analysis of dams including the various soil conditions and boundary conditions will be solved under the condition of the development of computerized algorithm.
