A new synthetic method for organo phosphorus compounds has been developed in which triethylphosphate with an aid of potassium iodide attacks the carbocation centers generated by electrophilic addition of bromcnium ion to the double bond of various alkenes.

Heteroaton으로 치환된 C5 sulfone은 isoprene으로부터 효과적으로 만들어 진다. Isoprene은 NBS와 acetoxy group의 nucleophilic addition에 의하여 C5 bromoacetate를 형성하고, sulfone의 addition으로 안정한 Heteroatom-substituted C5 sulfone이 생성된다. C5 sulfone은 base condition하에서 dienyl sulfone의 중간체를 거쳐 R-XH group이 addition 되어 heteroatom substituted C5 sulfone이 생성된다. 이렇게 생성된 C5 unit은 C15 halide와의 coupling을 통하여 다양한 Vitamin A 유도체를 만들 수 있다.

Tetracyclic compound는 자연계에 존재하는 생화학적으로 그리고 약학적으로 중요한 아주 많은 화합물에 존재하는 고리구조이다. 본 연구에서는 tetracyclic compound 의 precursor인 cycloalkene-l-carboxaldehyde를 효율적인 방법으로 합성하였다. Tetracyclic compound have widely been used as useful building blocks in the construction of a variety of biologically and/or mediclly important natural products. This research is studied for the useful synthesis of cycloalkene-1carboxaldehyde that precursor of tetracyclic compound.
Tri-Propionate 사슬의 입체선택적 합성에 관한 연구

High stereo selection of three carbon centers containing a methyl substituent has been realized. The conjugate addition of dimethylcuprate to 5-methyl-2-cyclohexenone I followes by acetal formation with crotyl alcohol and then subsequent Claisen rearrangement produces three-methyl substituted cyclohexanone 3. When the same sequence of reactions was applied to 3,5-dimethyl-2-cyclohexenone 2, where copper-hydride was used instead of dimethylcuprate, 4 was obtaines in a highly stereo selective manner. These two cyclohexenones 3 and 4 can be cleaved to produce tri-propionate chains 5 and 6, respectively.
Neurospora crassa ars-1 프로모터의 발현율 조사

The ars gene of the Neurospora crassa encodes arylsulfatase and is expressed under sulfur limitation. An ars-1 promoter(Pars) translationally-fused to a lacZ gene was transformed into the N. crassa RLM 35-35, a his-3 inl strain and integrated into the his-S locus by a single crossover homologous recombination. $\beta$-galactosidase specific activity was measured from mycelia grown in sulfur-limited Vogel's medium. Enzyme activity reached its maximum at 14 hour after the shift to derepressing condition. When activity from homokaryon generated by microconidiation was measured, it was 17% a higher than that from heterokaryon. Arylsulfatase를 암호화하는 Neurospora crassa의 ars-1 유전자는 황의 결핍에 의해서 발현이 조절된다. lacZ 유전자에 연결된 ars-1 프로모터 (Pars)가 N. crassa RLM 35-35 a his-3 inl 균주에 형질전환되고, 유사 서열 재조합에 의한 단일 교차에 의해서 염색체의 his-3 부위로 도입이 되었다. 황이 결여된 Vogel의 배지에서 자란 균사로부터 $\beta$-galactosidase 활성이 측정되었다. $\beta$-galactosidase 활성은 derepression 조건으로 변환한지 14 시간 후에 최고치를 기록하였다. Microconidiation에 의해서 생산된 homokaryon에서 측정된 활성은 heterokaryon보다 17% 증가가 되었음을 보여주었다. 이 실험은 ars-1 프로모터의 발현율을 측정할 수 있는 한 방법을 제시한 것으로, 보다 수월한 ars-1 발현 조절 연구가 기능할 것이다.

This study investigated the role of angiotensin II receptor blocker in atrial remodeling in rats with atrial fibrillation (AF) induced by a myocardial infarction (MI). MIs were induced by a ligation of the left anterior descending coronary artery. Two days after, the rats in the losartan group were given losartan (10 mg/kg/day for 10 weeks). Ten weeks later,echocardiography and AF induction studies were conducted. Ejection fraction was significantly lower in the MI rats. Fibrosis analysis revealed much increased left atrial fibrosis in the MI group than sham (2.22 ± 0.66% vs 0.25 ± 0.08%, P = 0.001) and suppression in the losartan group (0.90 ± 0.27%, P = 0.001) compared with the MI group. AF inducibility was higher in the MI group than sham (39.4 ± 43.0% vs 2.0 ± 6.3%,P = 0.005) and significantly lower in losartan group (12.0 ± 31.6%, P = 0.029) compared with the MI. The left atrial endothelial nitric oxide synthase (NOS) and sarco/endoplasmic reticulum Ca2+-ATPase levels were lower in the MI group and higher in the losartan group significantly. The atrial inducible NOS and sodium-calcium exchanger levels were higher in the MI and lower in the losartan group significantly. Losartan disrupts collagen fiber formation and prevents the alteration of the tissue eNOS and iNOS levels, which prevent subsequent AF induction.
