Vol.16 No.-

In modem times, women who became aware that women were also subjective humans demanded that they break away from the otherized role of relying on others and establish new human relationships as equal subjects to men in society and family. This means that women, who are distinct from the existing otherized female images at each level of men and women, families, and society, have emerged as independent and subjective individuals. However, in the process of realizing subjectivity, women were easily otherized by male subjects who created the dominant discourse of history and state. For the literature of Korean and Chinese female writers Kim Il-yeop and Lu-In in the 1920s, this paper identified the aspects of recognizing women’s otherness in reality such as free love, marriage, and social participation, and reviewed how to respond to otherness by aiming for subjectivity. In the Literature, the two writers showed accusations against men who are distorted free love, opposition to otherness in marriage, and responding to otherness by raising questions about male-centered order in the process of participating in social activities for self-realization. Based on their experiences, the two writers sought ways to overcome women's otherness in their works and tried to present directions in their lives as true female subjects.

      • 1920년대 한중 근대 여성작가 소설의 자유연애 실현과 그 갈등 양상

고호월(HAOYUE GAO) 慶熙大學校 大學院 2021 高凰論集 Vol.69 No.-

The purpose of this paper is to compare and review the realization of freedom of love and Its conflicts in the modern korean and Chinese Women's novels in the 1920s. In the 1920s, new women regarded freedom of love as one of the indicators of modernity and tried to realize subjectivity through it. However, in this process, various conflicts arose in the social and cultural layer, economic layer, and ethical layer. First of all, at the social and cultural layer, new women were facing conflicts with free will and betrothal by parents. Betrothal by parents started with the love of parents who set up a good marriage because they wanted their children to live a smooth life rather than recognizing it as a patriarchal evil custom. However, the open ending of Kim Myung-soon's "A girl's path", the incompleteness of "Lonely People", and the establishment of different ends in Feng yuan-jun's "Isolation" and "Delay" show that Korean and Chinese female writers have not found a solution to the conflict of free will and parents' love. At the economic layer, female writers of both countries have come to recognize that economic independence is an important condition for the realization of freedom of love and free marriage. Kim Myung-soon and Lu-In suggested that they must realize economic independence by highlighting the female protagonists who eventually commit suicide after marriage due to economic problems, and Kim Il-yeop and Ding-Ling must not rely on men but are economically independent. Meanwhile, Ding-Ling noted the cruel reality that even if women become self-reliant, it is still difficult to escape from the fate of becoming men's sexual products. Female writers of both countries identified and criticized the root cause of the ethical dilemma as false men. However, From the standpoint of new women, the selfish appearance of new women was rather exposed when embodying these ethical conflicts. Finally, at the ethical layer, new women were faced with an ethical dilemma between realizing love as the second wife of a married man and the sacrifice of the former woman, the headquarters. Kim Il-yeop and other Korean female writers justified their affair by claiming that love between new women and married men is a transitional issue, while Lu-In and other Chinese female writers said celibacy is the best way to resolve this ethical conflict by reflecting on marriage with married men.

        高顥月 ( Gao¸ Haoyue ) 중국어문연구회 2021 中國語文論叢 Vol.- No.107

Through Kim Myungsoon and Feng Yuanjun, the representative the first modern-female and new-female writers of Korea and China, this thesis aims to compare and examine the Romantic love and male characterization methods of the two countries in the 1920s. The 1920s was the “age of love”. Through each of the major works Thinking back and series of Isolation, After isolation and Travel, Kim Myungsoon and Feng Yuanjun Insist on a romantic love that regards platonic love as more valuable and superior by dividing the body and the mind. However, the difference between the two writers social reality and male intellectuals led Kim Myungsoon to move toward extreme asceticism, which rejected sexual relationships, and Peng Yuanjun recognized the physical instinct but regarded spiritual love as true love. In addition, the two writers wanted to become the main agents of enlightenment by actively speaking in the public domain through writing, in order to break down the reality that male intellectuals were leading the love story. Most of the men who were able to interact mentally with new women at the time were married men. Kim Myungsoon highlighted the two-sided mannerbild of loyalty and indecisive appearance. Peng Yuanjun expressed the selfish nature of male intellectuals and new women by embodying an active male figure who boldly pursues free love, while also highlighting the image of a man who ignores his ex-female wife for free love.
