무대 위에 역사 쓰기-핑 총의 《시누와즈리》

핑 총(Ping Chong)은 1970년부터 40년이 넘는 기간 동안 비디오 아트, 설치 미술 등과 함께 60작품이 넘는 연극 무대를 창조해오고 있는 미국의 대표적인 실험 연출가이다. 중국계 미국인인 총은 1946년에 캐나다, 토론토에서 출생한 후 미국, 뉴욕의 차이나타운으로 이주하여 그곳에서 중국어로 교육을 받으며 성장하였다. 미술과 영화를 공부하기 위해서 차이나타운을 떠나 새로운 문화를 접하면서 총은 미국 문화와 중국 문화 중 어느 쪽에도 속할 수 없는 자신을 발견하게 된다. 이러한 문화적 충격은 총의 정체성(identification)을 양 문화 사이의 경계에 존재하는 아웃사이더로 인식하게 만든다. “문화들 사이(betweencultures)”에 놓인 총의 정체성은 그의 연극을 위한 주제적 관심에 지대한 영향을 끼친다. 총은 미국의 패권적 문화 구조 안에서 (예술가로서, 이민자로서, 그리고 동성애자로서) 아웃사이더 시각으로 “문화와 타자(culture and the other)”라는 주제에 관심을 쏟으면서 정체성과 차이(identity and difference), 문화적 다양성과 혼성(cultural diversity and hybridity), 문화적 폭력과 전 지구적 조화(cultural violence and global harmony), 문화-역사적 글쓰기와 타자(cultural historical wiring and otherness)에 관한 자신의 관심들을 연극 무대를 통해 구체화한다. 총의 내러티브 텍스트들 중 ‘문화-역사적 글쓰기’에 속하는 《시누와즈리 (1994)》의 무대를 텍스트로 삼아 그의 연극(연출) 세계를 해체주의적 시각으로 연구하는 것이 본 논문의 주제이다. 총의 내러티브 텍스트 구조에 내재하는 역사와 내러톨로지(history and narratology)의 분석을 통해 어떻게 신화적 내러티브들이 그의 공연에서 비판적으로 해체되는지를 조사한다. 총은 사람들, 문화들, 그리고 역사들에 관한 그의 (대항적{counter}) 신화 만들기에서 무엇이 이야기되는가라는 주제에 관한 연구를 한다. 총이 어떻게 “타자”라는 개념을 그의 해체적 신화 만들기에서 지역적 또는 국가적 그리고 글로벌 시각으로 다양하게 접근하여 이야기를 고안하는지를 연구, 분석한다. 자아와 타자 사이의 경계를 견고하게 하는 패권적 내러티브의 권위를 약화시키고, 주변부의 다양한 목소리들이 살아나게 하고, 패권적 역사와 문화의 모놀로그의 중단을 시도하는 총의 (대항적) 신화 만들기를 공연 방법으로 분석하며 논쟁한다. 이러한 총의 (대항적) 내러티브들의 주제적 키워드인 목소리 내기는 그것이 함유하는 타자에 대한 존중, 평등, 정의라는 정치적 언어들에 있어 완전한 의미의 “말하기와 듣기”에 기초한 민주주의의 수행으로서의 공연이라는 가능성을 모색한다.

가시성이 도서관 자리 선호에 미치는 영향 연구

Due to increased digital media use in the reading room, it is necessary to rethink the physical layout of libraries in light of new user habits. Therefore, we analyzed space-choice behavior and check in data logs at an academic library rather than subjective self-report surveys, to investigate actual student seat selections through a reservation process. We investigated the number of times a seat was reserved, the number of times a seat was extended, etc. in two different types of reading rooms; a laptop room with study carrels and a regular reading room with study carrels. Also, we conducted VGA(Visibility Graph Analysis) on the two types of reading rooms. We found out that seats with low visibility were highly preferred in a regular reading room and this tendency is less significant in a laptop room.

국내 패션브랜드에 나타난 친환경 패션 디자인의 특성

Mass production, consumption and disposal which characterize the industrialized society in the contemporary area have exceeded the Earth’s selfpurification capacity and reached to a point where we can no longer overlook the environmental issues of the Earth. Thus, the design also considers the subject of the environmental protection across entire process including the development, production, distribution, consumption and disposal and such flow has created a trend called ‘eco fashion design’. The products which has reflected eco trends is already recognized as a ordinary product line overseas and expanding to the variety field whereas in Korea, the fashion design for environment had its start since 2008. It is developed mainly in the areas of the children’s clothing, innerwear, outdoor and sportswear and also the number of small-sized specialized companies of eco fashion design which perform the recycling design is on the rise. Fashion design for environment in Korea was explored and the results showed that it can be divided into three designs: organic design, re-design and multi-functional design. Organic design is focused on ‘health’ and made using the natural fabrics, eliminating the decorations which may cause harm to the environment. Re-design can be described as an upgraded form of the recycling fashion from the 20th century. The wasted fabrics after main cutting were used and transformed into Haute Couture product with the distinct design values after going through the custom hand craftsmanship. Lastly, for multifunctional design can be divided into the design by the functional new fabrics with the cutting-edge scientific technology, the smart wear design with the attached computers or machines and transformable design where the design can be changed to be multi-functions with one clothing. In this study, the transformable design is reflected on the work. As such, organic design, re-design and multi-functional design are bringing the qualitative changes in our society with the sustainable use and wise consumption culture which do not harm the global environment. Fashion design for environment must be creative and innovate, and a design in pursuit of the future of the mankind. In order for fashion design for environment to grow in the Korean market, it should prioritize the diversity and distinctiveness. For this, Korean fashion brands must expand the area of fashion design for environment and further strive for creating designs that can satisfy the high sensitivity of consumers.

영화 ‘라라랜드(LaLa-Land)’를 통해 본 영화음악의 기능별 특징

The purpose of this study was to investigate the background of the film production, the musical characteristics and the music of the movie 'LaLa-Land' by Justin Hurwitz. This study classified the music of the film ‘LaLa Land’ into six categories such as the Opening, the function of the prelude, the function of the character description, the function of the theme song, the function of the story telling, and the finale. The results of this study indicated that the music of the movie 'LaLa-Land' was influenced by Classical Music, such as counterpoint, mode, overture, and prelude by J. S, Bach and Leitmotif by R. Wagner. This study also confirmed that film music played a role of storytelling. For Example, the music of ‘LaLa Land’ actively intervened in the screen whenever the story needed to be explained or changed. In addition, it was very effective to edit the themes of 'LaLa-Land' music into short melody and insert it into the movie frequently in that music preference could be increased with exposing music frequently. Lastly, it was also effective to use the technique by using only screen and music without speech in the last flashback scene for giving a moving impression to audiences.

국내 공동주택 커뮤니티 공간의 현황에 관한 연구

Multi-dwelling unit can address house problems efficiently in the contemporary society. However, house seclusion becomes worse and resident exchanges are gradually declining due to this type of house. Therefore, it is necessary to adequately plan and utilize community centers within apartment houses to facilitate resident exchanges and improve house space in terms of quality. The aim of this study is to understand the current status of the usage and areas of multi-dwelling unit community centers in South Korea, and even consumers’ needs. For specific methods, it will investigate the facilities, areas, and the level of requirement of multi-dwelling unit community centers in South Korea. Results from this study are presented as follows. First, there is a difference between the current status of installing community centers and the level of requirement. Second, as the number of households increases, total areas of community centers expanded, while areas per household narrowed. Third, the number of household in each apartment, unit areas, and the distribution of household members should be considered in planning community facilities and areas. Fourth, customer needs for apartment and residential-commercial building were different.

분열의 계보: 미로의 문턱에 선 현대미술

이 텍스트의 의도는 작가들뿐만 아니라 비평가들에게 던지는 의문 즉 작가가 작품을 만드는 중요한 것을 분석하고 또 그것을 어떻게 이해할 것인가에 있다. 우리는 오늘날 글로벌 세계에 살고 있다. 그러나 그 세계의 질서는 더 이상 모더니티로부터 잉태된 모델에 부합하지 않으면서 아직도 불확실하게 남아있다. 여기서 중요한 것은 작가들이 이러한 무질서에 어떻게 대처하는지를 이해하는 것이다. 이를 위해 한편으로 과거를 돌아보고 또 한편으로 새로운 무엇이 도래하는 미래를 예견하면서 근본적인 것을 탐구할 것이다. 이러한 상황과 방황은 분명히 각자의 정신적 심리현상 특히 작가들의 창작 행위에 어떤 효과를 만들어낸다. 그래서 본 담론은 방황의 상징적인 형상인 미로의 의문을 통해 상황을 분석하고, 또한 이러한 ‘분열’ 다시 말해 과거와 미래 사이와 재확인된 전통과 아직불확실한 예견 사이를 주파하면서 인간의 모든 정신세계를 지배하는 균열에 거슬러 창작을 계속할 수 있는 방법을 제시하려고 한다. 결국 담론은 이러한 의문들의 예로서 오늘날 한국 현대미술 작가들의 다양한 작품들을 제시하는데 그들의 작품은 동양과 서양을 아우르는 ‘분열’을 보여준다.

21세기 음악 전공생의 진로와 관련한 연구의 현황 분석

The purpose of this study was to analyze the research trends on music career development including classical music, Korean traditional music and popular music majors, and presume the direction of 21st century music majors in Korea. The results of this study indicated that the research on the career development of music majors was very limited while other majors including economics, managements, or technological majors. Even though, the professors and students at collage of music recognized the matter of career development of music majors, professors and students do not have a solution for these matters. In conclusion, the researchers need to study on music career development for 21st music majors in Korea

중앙 아시아의 여성 샤머니즘: 이론, 실천과 사운드스케이프

샤머니즘은 석기시대에 발생되어 발전되었고 역사 초기부터 전 인류에게 알려진 세계적인 현상이다. 샤머니즘 연구에 따르면, ``샤먼``이라는 용어는 시베리아 동부에 사는 퉁구스 족의 단어인 샤먼(Shaman) 또는 바먼(Vaman)에서 유래되었고 마법사, 치유자, 제사장, 신비주의자, 시인, 기적을 행하는 사람 또는 무아지경의 구체적 기술을 사용하는 주술사라는 의미를 갖고 있다. 이러한 기술은 음악, 율동적인 춤, 속세를 떠난 호젓함과 가장 빈번하게는 신령스러운 문구의 반복인 지키르 (예를 들면 이슬람의 기도 낭송인 ``지크르``)를 포함한다. 중앙아시아 샤머니즘 문화는 지역에 널리 퍼져있는 종교적 믿음의 극히 중요한 부분을 이루고 있다. 오늘날, 중앙아시아 지역을 가로질러 찾을 수 있는 주술사의 대부분은 여성이다. 이번 발표에서 연구할 수 있는 질문들은 다음과 같다: 현대 중앙아시아에서 주술사는 누구인가? 샤머니즘이 지역 여성들에게 얼마나 대중적인가? 어떤 중앙아시아의 민속 악기들이 주술사 정신의 극단적 능력과 역사적으로 관련되어 있나? 어떤 민속 음악들과 이야기들이 심오하고 상징적이며 방어적인 의미를 갖고 있을까? 어떤 상황에서 주술사들은 주술을 행하는 것일까? 어떻게 이런 모든 주술적 실천들이 현대 중앙아시아의 문화와 음악으로 오늘날을 반영하는 것일까? 저자에 의해 수집된 원본의 민족지학적 연구에 근거하여, 이 논문은 삽화, 비디오, 오디오 예를 포함하고 있다. Shamanism is a global phenomenon which arose and developed during the Stone Age and was known to all humanity in the early stages of its history. According to the study of Shamanism, the term "Shaman" is derived from the Tungus-Ewenki word Saman or Vaman, meaning a magician, healer, priest, mystic, poet and performer of miracles, or Shaman as the one who uses specific techniques of ecstasy. These techniques include music, rhythmic dancing, seclusion, and, most frequently, Zikir (i.e. Zikr) - the repetition of mystical formulae. In Central Asian culture Shamanism formed an essential part of religious beliefs widely spread in the area. Today, across Central Asian area, Shamans are mostly found to be women. The questions we investigate in this presentation are as follows: Who is a Shaman in contemporary Central Asia? How popular is Shamanism among local women? Which Central Asian folk instruments are historically associated with extreme power related to Shamanic spirits? What folk songs and narrations have deep symbolic protective meaning? On what occasions they are performed? How are all these Shamanistic practices reflected today in contemporary Central Asian culture and music? Based on original ethnographic data collected by the author, this paper illustrated with photo, video and audio examples.

매체변환을 통한 시의 확장 가능성 연구 -포에트리 슬램 poetry slam을 중심으로-

This paper thus aims to study the contemporary media conversion of literature, and as an example, would like to discuss poetry slam as a performative language. The study on a type of indie genre that is not as well-known but is presently being conducted not far away, and the study on the extensibility of literature from a future-oriented perspective are expected to provide solutions to boost diverse accessibility to consumers and present new methods to approach literature.
