비공학계열 대학생을 위한 캡스톤 디자인 수업에 대한 인식 및 요구

최근 비공학계열인 인문·사회계열 대학생들에게까지 캡스톤 디자인 수업이 확대되고 있다. 그러므로 창의 공학적 설계에 대한 이해가 상대적으로 부족할 수 있는 수요자인 비공학계열 대학생을 대상으로 수업을 설계하기 위해서는 학습자들의 인식 및 요구를 사전에 조사하여 구체적 수업설계에 참고할 필요가 있다. 이에, 본 연구는 캡스톤 디자인 수업에 대한 대학생의 인식 및 요구를 조사하기 위한 목적으로 수행되었다. 이를 위해 전문가의 내용타당도 검증을 받은 인식 및 요구에 대한 설문에 대해 비공학계열 대학생 179명과 공학계열 대학생 145명 총 324명을 대상으로 성별, 학년별 및 전공계열별 차이를 살펴보았다. 본 연구결과에서 대학에서의 캡스톤 디자인 수업에 대한 관심과 필요성이 사회적으로 증가하고 있지만, 캡스톤 디자인 수업에 대한 학생들의 관심 및 필요성 인식은 낮은 수준이었다. 특히, 비공학계열에서는 학습자의 진로를 다각도로 모색하고 계발할 수 있고, 사회적 요구 즉, 진출할 진로분야의 현대적 변화와 요구에 부응하는 내용 및 타 분야와의 통합(융합)경험을 강화하는 캡스톤 디자인 수업으로서의 요구가 공학계열보다 유의하게 높은 것으로 조사되었다. 따라서 본 연구는 인문·사회계열 등의 비공학계열 대학생을 창의 융합인재로 육성하기 위해 비공학계열 기반 캡스톤 디자인 수업의 방향을 설계하고 그 타당성을 확인하여 수요자 중심의 맞춤형 교수-학습 프로그램을 개발하는데 기초자료로 활용될 수 있다는 데 연구의 의의가 있다. Recently a capstone design course has been implemented for university students who major in nonengineering such as humanities and social science extensively. So it was needed to investigate recognition and needs about the capstone design course beforehand, to make a detailed instructional design for learners who lacked understanding of creative engineering design relatively compared to other students whose major was engineering. Accordingly, this study was intended to find out recognition and needs about a capstone design course for university students, collecting fundamental data of a capstone design course for university students who specialized in nonengineering. 324 university students including 179 in nonengineering and 145 in engineering participated in this survey. The content validity was verified and differences were identified according to gender, grade and major. Even if interest and the need of a capstone design course have been increasing in the society, the level of recognition and needs about a capstone design course of university students was low. It was shown that there were statistically meaningful differences between nonengineering group and engineering group, in the necessity as a capstone design course where careers would be found and developed from various aspects, the social need, that is to say, contents about modern changes and the demand in the field where university students would work and integration (convergence) experience with other fields. Therefore this study result is meaningful when a university student whose major is nonengineering is fostered as a creativity-convergence person and when it is useful as a basic material in developing learner-centered instructional programs after direction and validity of a capstone design course based on nonengineering are identified.
