Feasibility of the application of hydrothermal energy was carried out during the development stage of the new city. The construction cost was calculated and the district heat source was compared on the basis of the same area. The energy usage has excellent thermal efficiency at the level of 48% compared to the district heat source, and the annual operating cost is also about 23%. Hydrothermal energy demand prediction was established and the evaluation items, impact factors, weights and scoring criteria were refined. Demand assessment by building was re-selected by forecasting demand, and optimizing the hydrothermal network.

In this study, a geothermal system using groundwater was introduced in greenhouses for crop production and operating cost savings were compared. The annual energy cost for heating the existing tomato greenhouse is about 130 million won, putting a significant burden on the operation. In order to improve the existing heating system of the tomato greenhouse, a geothermal system and a water-storage type heat pump were applied. As a result of the application of improved heating and cooling system of the tomato greenhouse, operating cost in December was reduced by 39 % compared with the previous system, and CO₂ emission was reduced by 36 % as well.

To replace the absorption chillers installed in existing buildings, the economic evaluation was performed based on the LNG consumption of the previous year’s usage. Result of the economic evaluation of the Ice Storage System which is energy-saving system, the storage part and using part are separated, is to reduce 66% of the annual maintenance costs and 30% of the energy consumption(TOE) and carbon dioxide emissions. In addition, it is incongruent to use the existing chiller because the renovation site is difficult to make enough space for carrying in the equipment. By using the compact brine chiller made by Mitsubishi in this Ice Storage System, the chiller can be taken in the field by just use the normal elevator instead of the import district for the equipment.
