Microscopic study was done on the homologus canine aortic valve graft inserted ttransperitoneally into the infrarenal abdominal aorta. Homograft was prepared with stepwise one or two aorta cuffs at each end ,of the valve to decrease internal diameter and to facilitate vascular anastomosis, (Fig. 2) Prepared graft was sterilzed and preserved in 75% alcohol for one to 4 months before experiment and washed thoroughly with saline before grafting. Animals were sacrificed and grafted specimens were examined. 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 months after graft operation. Among 30 grafted animals there were ten operative mortality. Postoperative hemorrhage due to suture insufficiency was the main cause of death. 1) In almost all dogs that survived more than one month thrombosis in the aortic sinus was noted. 2) Except two cases the cusps were soft and in good shape. 3) Grafted specimens were embedded in a dense fibrous connective tissue capsule and firmly incorporated into the neighboring host's tissue. 4) In one month specimen hemorrhage, thrombosis, focal necrosis, and acute inflammation were noted. 5) In two to three months specimens repairing processes, i.e small round cell infiltration, calcification and fibrous connective tissue proliferation were noted. 6) Complete endothelialization of the aorta and valve cusps were noted in the four to five months specimens. This experiment shows that complete repair of grafted homologous aortic valve occurs in five months.

Mitral Commissurotomy was done for thirty one cases of mitral stenosis. Two uses were operated on under extracorporeal circulation. There was one operative mortality This case expired after blind mitral commissurotomy suddenly three days post-operatively. The patients were followed for one month to five years Eighty percent showed long-term improvement. Three cases showed no improvement. In one case moderate and in two mild degree of regurgitation was created by blind commissurotomy. In three apical diastolic murmur disappeared almost completely after operation but in the rest murmur persisted with diminished intensity.
