‘맞다’의 사전적 처리에 대한 연구 - 형용사 및 감탄사 용법을 중심으로 -

‘맞다’는 대부분의 사전에서 동사로만 처리되어 있으나 형용사적으로 활용되는 경우가 적지 않고 감탄사적 용법으로 사용되기도 한다. 본고에서는 ‘맞다’를 동사와 형용사의 품사 통용 용언으로 볼 가능성과 감탄사 ‘맞다’ 설정의 타당성에 대하여 검토하였다. 말뭉치 용례 분석 결과, 특정 활용형에서 ‘맞다’가 형용사적으로 활용된 빈도가 동사적으로 활용된 빈도보다 높게 나타났다. ‘맞다’는 의미적 차이 없이 동사의 활용형과 형용사 활용형이 넘나드는 양상을 보이며 일부 활용형에서는 동사의 활용형으로만 나타나므로, 품사 통용으로 처리하기보다 동사 ‘맞다’의 사전 기술에 형용사적 활용에 대한 참고 정보를 추가하는 것이 타당하다고 보았다. 감탄사적 용법의 ‘맞다’가 동사에서 감탄사로 어휘화된 것인지 확인하기 위해 본고에서는 용언의 활용형에서 온 감탄사를 판정하는 형태적, 통사적, 의미적 기준을 설정하였다. 말뭉치 용례 분석을 통해 감탄사적 용법의 ‘맞다’가 이 판정 기준에 부합함을 밝혔으며 이에 따라 감탄사 ‘맞다’를 동사 ‘맞다’와 별도의 동형어로 분리하여 사전에 등재할 것을 제안하였다. Korean word matda(맞다), which means ‘right’, is registered as a verb in most Korean dictionaries, but it is often used like an adjective and also like an interjection. This paper examines if matda(맞다) could be regarded as a predicate which converses its word-class from a verb to an adjective and if it is valid to register the interjection matda(맞다). In corpus, the frequency of adjectival inflection of matda(맞다) was higher than verbal inflection in particular conjugations. However, considering its characteristics, adding a note about its adjectival inflection to the current description is more reasonable than regarding matda(맞다) as a predicate that changes its word-class. To verify whether the interjectional matda(맞다) was lexicalized as an interjection, we established morphological, syntactic, and semantic criteria for identifying an interjection lexicalized from an inflection of a predicate. The interjectional matda(맞다) in corpus met the criteria. Accordingly, it is proposed to register the interjection matda(맞다) in dictionaries separately from the verb matda(맞다).
