Simultaneous Detection of Waterborne Viruses by Multiplex Real-Time PCR

Norovirus, Rotavirus group A, the Hepatitis A virus, and Coxsackievirus are all common causes of gastroenteritis. Conventional diagnoses of these causative agents are based on antigen detection and electron microscopy. To improve the diagnostic potential for viral gastroenteritis, internally controlled multiplex real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) methods have been recently developed. In this study, individual real-time PCRs were developed and optimized for specific detections of Norovirus genogroup I,Norovirus genogroup II, Rotavirus group A, the Hepatitis A virus, and Coxsackievirus group B1. Subsequently, individual PCRs were combined with multiplex PCR reactions. In general, multiplex real-time PCR assays showed comparable sensitivities and specificities with individual assays. A retrospective clinical evaluation showed increased pathogen detection in 29% of samples using conventional PCR methods. Prospective clinical evaluations were detected in 123 of the 227 (54%) total samples used in the multiplex realtime PCR analysis. The Norovirus genogroup II was found most frequently (23%), followed by Rotavirus (20%), the Hepatitis A virus (4.5%), Coxsackievirus (3.5%), and Norovirus genogroup I (2.6%). Internally controlled multiplex real-time PCR assays for the simultaneous detection of Rotavirus, Coxsackievirus group B, the Hepatitis A virus,and Norovirus genogroups I and II showed significant improvement in the diagnosis of viral gastroenteritis.
중·고등학교 시각장애 학생들을 위한 실용음악교육 실태조사 및 필요성 - 실용음악학과 진학을 중심으로

The purpose of this study was to investigate the necessity of practical music education for students with visual impairment through the current status of music education at middle and high school students with and without visual impairment as well as the application type for the university entrance for students with disabilities in practical music departments across the nation. For this study, interviews with teachers from 4 schools for the blind and semi-structured interview with one participant who graduated school for blind as well as practical music department. The results indicated that current music education was limited to the regular subject time, extracurricular activities, and special activity like general middle/high schools, and practical music courses were not available in each school. Additionally, students with visual impairment did not receive practical music education opportunities as a part of career vocational education in school in order to major in practical music. The results of this study confirmed the necessity of practical music education for the students with visual impairment and discussed the realistic solution.
Evaluating isotherm models for the prediction of flue gas adsorption equilibrium and dynamics

We evaluated isotherm models for the precise prediction of adsorption equilibrium and breakthrough dynamics. Adsorption experiments were performed using pure N2, CO2 and their binary mixture with an activated carbon (AC) material as an adsorbent. Both BET and breakthrough measurements were conducted at various conditions of temperature and pressure. The corresponding uptake amount of pure component adsorption was experimentally determined, and parameters of the four different isotherm models, Langmuir, Langmuir-Freundlich, Sips, and Toth, were calculated from the experimental data. The predictive capability of each isotherm model was also evaluated with the binary experimental results of binary N2/CO2 mixtures, by means of sum of square errors (SSE). As a result, the Toth model was the most precise isotherm model in describing CO2 adsorption equilibrium on the AC. Based on the breakthrough experimental result from the binary mixture adsorption, non-isothermal modeling for the adsorption bed was performed. The breakthrough results with all of the isotherm models were examined by rigorous dynamic simulations, and the Toth model was also the most accurate model for describing the dynamics.

Modern aircraft are required to carry various external stores mounted at different locations on the wing. Sometimes the attachment of stores to an aircraft wing leads to flutter speed reduction, which is a very severe aeroelastic problem. In order to suppress structural vibration and expand the flutter boundary of the aircraft with stores, it is necessary to investigate the main problems and characteristics of them. In addition, active vibration control may be required because passive vibration isolators show limited capabilities for the various wing/store configuration. In this paper, therefore, the flutter stability to the various wing/store configurations was investigated and active vibration control of wing/store model was performed using a piezoelectric actuator.
