Exterior space in Architecture should be designed as the important space for man's living activities as well as its interior space. For playing abundant activities in the exterior space, it is emphasized that spatial perception, which control them fully, should be intimate and pleasant before everything else. Therefore it is desirable to provide exterior space which can have people feel human scale through their sensory apparatus, not the huge scale which only shrinkes them. Then the space is called the proper perceptive space. When the exterior space will need to be much larger than the provide one in this study according to its function, it can be enarged by available spatial organizing methods. Thus even the enlarged enterior space can still be an intimate, pleasant and politive space, not the space casted off by people. From this point of view, the fundamental scale of exterior space provided in this study has an useful meaning.

This research investigates the life-cycle energy consumption of the building structure, and it's environmental potential aspects by utilizing the LCA. Analyzed per type of the structure, the research's scope has taken account of the entire life-cycle of the structure from the extraction of raw materials to its disposal, of which its given sample building type is an office building. Results gained from the LCA of the structure as one of the steps in analysis reflects the current global interest and analysis trend towards the world's environmental issue on all fields of industry including the architectural industry, of which its newly established standards of architectural structure can further promote more environmentally sustainable factor compared to the previous analysis (focused more on energy efficiency assessment of the use stage).

This research developed a program that can evaluate by integrating environment of building and analysis result of economic efficiency. The developed program is composed of LCA which evaluates the environment efficiency of buildings. LCC which evaluates the economic efficiency and BTCA which evaluates by integrating these results. It provides LCA, LCC functional unit database of the total 1,366 materials so that users can evaluate with a simple design summary in the beginning of design. Also, through entering information by users, it makes possible to perform an environment assessment for buildings in detail. The development of this program is very helpful for the collection and analysis of information for assessment. and also the systematization of results.

To Verify the thermal performance of the wall structures in residential houses, the characteristics of the thermal insulation and the thermal mass should be examined simultaneously. However the present wall structure for energy conservation has been studied only on the thermal insulation reinforcement, not on the thermal mass performance. For this reason, this paper examined the combined effects of the thermal mass and insulation of the exterior walls and analyzed the typical structures with the examined thermal effects.

A site of apartment houses contains various environmental factors to have an effect on building energy. Especially, specific microclimate formed on the site is a critical element which controls building heat loads. The subject of this study is to gain energy conservation effects through the site planning, not through building design. To make it successful, the techniques to reduce dad conditions of the specific microclimate should be found, and applied to the site planning properly. Thus this study makes and suggests the site planning criteria which have regard to the local sunshine and wind condition.

Energy consumption is the very important point of investment, maintenance and administration in apartment plans. Improving of living quality, the use of cooling instruments (for example, air-conditioner) has been increasing in apartment houses, therefore problems of indoor air quality and thermal environment are outbreak. The purpose of this study is to reduce the cooling energy and assist the comfort indoor air environment through ventilation cooling in apartment planning for the future.
