왕소파(王小波)의 작품은 주로 본토전통문화와 서양현대문화를 토대로 하여 창작되었다. 왕소파는 본토문화와 서양문화인 서로 다른 문화에 대한 태도도 다르고 수용방식과 정도도 다르다. 작자는 자신의 경력, 역사와 현실 등 원인으로 전통문화에 대해 부정적이고 비판적인 태도를 가지고 있지만 전통문학의 장점을 선택해서 받아들이는 것을 주장한다. 전통문화에 대한 비판과 대비하여 왕소파는 서양의 자유민주주의를 추앙하며 주로 서양문화와 문학에서 자신의 문학적인 정신과 창작의 소재를 얻는다. 그러나 이러한 분열은 결국 후기 창작에 어려움을 가져오고 창작이 슬럼프에 빠지게 된다. 이러한 슬럼프는 또한 수많은 당대 작가들의 공통적으로 직면하는 곤령이기도 한다. The Writing resources of Wang Xiaobo come mainly from two aspects of the local tradition and modern western, Wang Xiaobo held different attitudes towards the native and Western spiritual resources. Wang Xiaobo had different styles of absorption and degrees of acceptance of the traditional Chinese resources and Western resources. Based on his history, reality, personal experiences and other reasons, the writer held critical attitude to the traditional culture, but absorbed selectively the traditional literature. Compare to the Criticism of the traditional resources, Wang Xiaobao promoted the western liberal democracy, the writer achieved his spiritual and writing resources mainly from the Western culture and literature, which resulted in writing predicament eventually, the creation entered into a bottleneck, which is also what many contemporary writers are confronted with.

Wang Xiaobo being lonely when alive, has become popular shortly after his death and his public image has also changed greatly. There are several thoughts fierce collision in 1990s china society, such as “Great Discussion on humanistic spirit”and “Cultural nationalism” “Postmodernism” “Liberalism”follows, Liberalism arising in the late 1990s excavated the thought value of “Wang Xiaobo’s literature.” The market-oriented and mediocrity of literature in the 1990s led to the so-called “literature crisis” while Wang Xiaobo’s novels stand out with a literary style different from other contemporary literature. His sudden death being an event, the media grasped the chance and constantly propagandized him, which finally achieved the cultural phenomenon of “Wang Xiaobo hot”.

Officialdom is the reality and cultural space composed by government officials, with a history of thousands of years in China. Since the Qin dynasty abolished the feudal system and implemented the authority agent system of ‘officials as teachers’, the official class formed gradually. As officials were recruited on a large scale by the imperial examination system, the official class was growing and gradually took control of social resources, and its cultural influence also overflowed its own class. Steeped in officialdom culture for a long time and advocated by the Confucian culture, Chinese people formed social values of ‘official standard’, which dominated the social mainstream consciousness. The officialdom novels, as a type with officialdom as the subject of novels, focusing on official corruption and exposing the darkness of officialdom and the alienation of power to humans, thus drew wide attention from readers. There are two officialdom literary booms in Chinese modern history with different backgrounds: ‘condemnation novels’ in the late Qing dynasty and contemporary officialdom novels from the end of the last century to the first decade of this century. The former is literary criticism on China’s backward reality made by the advanced intellectuals in the late Qing dynasty who accepted the western civilization, while the rise of the latter set it background in the 1990s when the government launched an anti-corruption campaign to get rid of social crisis. Compared to condemnation novels which merely exposed and satirized darkness, contemporary officialdom novels have many new developments in techniques of expression and humanity portrayal.

After passing away since the late 1990s, the writer Wang Xiaobo (1952-1997) has evoked great repercussions in Chinese contemporary ideological, cultural and literary spheres. Even the cultural phenomenon of so-called Wang Xiaobo hot has arisen.
