Initial prestress force is decreased by the number of losses during the construction works. The number of prestressing tendon is sequentially prestressed and fixed. For post-tensioned members, initial prestress force is decreased by elastic shortening of concrete and friction of prestressing. The cross section a box girder bridge element is a rectangular single-cell box with side cantilevers and the axis of the element is curved in plan. The cross sectional dimensions vary along the element axis. Eight displacement degree of freedoms, including transverse distortion and longitudinal warping of the cross section, are considered at each of the three element nodes. To examine and illustrate the developed alogorithm, prestress loss for elastic shortening of the proposed method compared of prestress loss for elastic shortening of design criterion. Result by the specification was conservative, but it would give larger quantity of prestress loss. The proposed method will be a reasonable method to calculate the elastic shortening of concrete. The proposed method will be a practical and economical method for the design of the curved prestressed concrete box girders.

For the three dimensional analysis of linearly tapered members, the stiffness matrices are derived. Significant improvements of accuracy and efficiency of the analysis are achieved by using the stiffness matrices developed in this study. Results of these analysis are compared with those based upon stepped representation of beam elements in the ANSYS. The stiffness matrices presented in this study can be used for the analysis of tapered and prismatic members.

In classical method, analysis of contintinuous structures was usually performed by the slope-deflection or the three-moment theorems. Both methods were used conveniently for solving structure problems with constant prismatic members, but the moment distribution method was prefered when solving structure problems of members with variable sections. With the use of electronic computers, the classical methods are more favorably used The programming of the analysis of continuous structurs in the form of simultaneous equations can be easily established in a form of matrix and solved systematically. The following method is developed to analyze continuous structural members of variable section with the aid of coefficients currently published. But existing tables for frame constants are limited to certain types of members. A general method for computing the constants for any member is needed for efficient and economical design. The matrix formulation for computing them provides a direct, compact, and systematic solution. Therefore the frame constant matrices are easily programmed, and can be incorporated as a sub-routine in computer programs for analysis and design.
