OMNI Ratings of Perceived Exertion Scale at Ventilatory Breakpoint in Adults

The purpose of the study was to identify a standardized RPE zone equivalent to the ventilatory breakpoint(Vpt) in young who varied in physical activity level to be useful for both prescription and self-regulation of aerobic exercise intensity. Thirty-two young adults(13 females & 19 males), aged 25-29 years participated in the current study. During a graded exercise test(GXT) on a cycle ergometer, RPE was measured using both the OMNI-Cycle Scale(0-10) and the Borg Scale(6-20). Heart rate, blood pressure, ventilation and oxygen consumption were measured during the GXT, and Vpt was calculated(%VO2peak). The mean value of VO2peak for females was 29.9 ± 8.7 ml/kg/min, and the mean value of VO2peak for males was 33.8 ± 6.3 ml/kg/min. The mean Vpt for females was 70.5%VO2peak, and the mean Vptfor males was 70.1%VO2peak. The mean RPE at Vpt was 6.1 ± 1.3 with the OMNI Scale and 14 ± 1.5 with the Borg Scale. RPE at the Vpt measured by both the OMNI and Borg Scales did not differ between genders. The findings of the current study support the use of a standardized RPE zone as an indicator of the ventilatory breakpoint in young adults using the OMNI-Cycle Perceived Exertion Scale.
정기적인 신체활동 참여의 효과 총론: 건강증진을 위해 체중 조절을 할 것인가? 체력증진을 할 것인가?

많은 사람들이 건강증진을 위해 정기적인 신체활동에 참여하고 있다. 정기적인 신체활동 참여를 통해 체중감소와 건강한 체중을 유지시켜 궁극적으로 현대사회의 가장 큰 문제점인 비만을 해결할 수 있다. 대부분의 사람들은 운동수행 중 체중을 중요한 건강지표로 인식하여 건강상태를 평가하고, 목표체중을 선정하여 운동을 수행하고 있다. 그러나 지나친 체중에 대한 집착은 극단적인 다이어트나 과도한 운동이라는 잘못된 습관을 야기 시킨다. 뿐 만 아니라 건강한 체중감소가 이루어지기 위해서는 장기간의 정기적인 신체활동 참여가 필수적이다. 본 총론은 규칙적인 신체활동 참여를 통해 단기적으로 체력이 증진되고, 대사성질환 위험요인들을 건강한 수준까지 감소되며, 장기적으로 비만도가 건강한 수준까지 감소되기 때문에 지나친 체중조절에 대한 집착보다는 체력증진의 효과를 기대할 것을 제안하고 있다. Participating in regular physical activity is recommended for health promotion. Physical activity participation produces weight loss and healthy body weight maintenance, and essentially the prevalence of obesity decreases. Most people utilize the body weight as physical activity motivation or goal; however, some of them engages in over-exercise or extreme diet in order to extreme weight loss in relatively short period of time. The current review study demonstrates that regular physical activity participation increases health related physical fitness is associated with risk factors of metabolic disorder including blood pressure, glucose, triglyceride, cholesterol and insulin during short period of time, and produces the appropriate amount of weight loss during long period of time.
산업 현장에서 발생하는 슬러지 폐기물의 에칭과 재합성을 통한 실리카 나노입자의 제조

It is known that various types of chemical wastes including sludges are generated from the industrial fields. With the rapid growth of industry, disposal costs of chemical wastes are greatly increasing. In this study, we suggest a method to extract various silica particles from sludge wastes and converting into silanol precursor by etching process via ultra-sonication method using etchant such as ammonia solution. Various etching times were examined to maximize the extracting efficiency of silanol from the sludges. With the etching time of 8 h, the largest amount of silanol precursor were extracted. Subsequently, a simple sol-gel method is processed employing the silanol precursor, and silica nanoparticles with uniform size of 50 nm were successfully synthesized by sequential hydrolysis and condensation reaction. The results of this study verified the successful recycling method of sludge waste into silica nanoparticle, which may applicable in industry near future.
Determinant of Arterial Stiffness in Young Adults

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk factors may be acting several decades before CVD becomes manifest. Data from young subjects may be valuable in further elucidating at this issue. We evaluated the association between baPWV (brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity) and cardiovascular risk factors in apparently healthy young adults. A total of 46 male and 91 female adolescents aged $18{\sim}25 years$ were studied. baPWV increased in a dose-responsive manner as the number of metabolic syndrome components. In both gender groups, baPWV was positively correlated with age. In males, waist, circumference total cholesterol, and LDL-cholesterol were positively correlated with baPWV, and in females, blood pressure (BP) was positively correlated with baPWV. Age, gender, mean BP, and Homeostasis model assessment insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) were found to be independent factors associated with baPWV levels. In conclusion, mean BP, age, gender, and HOMA-IR were associated with baPWV in young adults. This result suggests that multiple cardiovascular risk factors may be associated with an increased risk of arterial stiffness in young adults.
궐련형 담배 바이오매스 기반의 슈퍼커패시터용 탄소의 제조 및 응용

본 연구에서는 궐련형 담배의 담뱃잎 바이오매스 폐기물을 수거하여 슈퍼커패시터용 활물질로 제조 및 응용하였다. 수거한 담뱃잎 폐기물을 질소 환경에서 다양한 온도(800/850/950°C)로 탄화하였으며, 탄소/산소 성분비(C/O ratio) 분석을 통해 850°C에서 가장 우수한 품질의 탄소 물질이 제조되었음을 확인하였다. 추가적으로 담뱃잎 기반의탄소 물질에 폴리피롤(Polypyrrole)을 저온중합법을 통해 코팅하여 전기화학적 성능을 향상시켰다. 탄소 물질(CTL-850) 과 폴리피롤을 코팅한 탄소 물질(CTL-850/PPy)을 기반으로 한 전극의 전기화학적 성능을 측정한 결과, -1.0-0.0V와0.0-1.0V의 전위창에서 각각 100.2F g-1@1 A g-1과 155.3F g-1@1 A g-1의 우수한 비정전용량(Specific capacitance)를나타내었다. 두 개의 전극을 활용하여 비대칭형 슈퍼커패시터 소자(Asymmetric supercapacitor device)를 제작하였으며, 제조한 비대칭형 CTL-850//CTL-850/PPy 소자는 2.0V의 구동전압 범위와 비정전용량(31.1F g-1@1 A g-1)을 가지고있음을 확인하였다. 또한, 제조한 슈퍼커패시터 소자의 방전을 통해 1.8V의 Red Led를 점등할 수 있음을 확인하였다. 본 연구 결과를 통해 바이오매스를 우수한 성능의 친환경 에너지 저장매체로 활용하는 후속 연구에 대한 방향성을제시할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다. In this study, heated tobacco biomass was prepared as an active material for supercapacitor device. Retrieved tobacco leaf from the heated tobacco was carbonized at various temperature(800/850/950°C). Carbonized tobacco leaf material synthesized at 850°C exhibited the highest C/O ratio, indicating the finest carbon quality. In addition, polypyrrole was coated onto the carbonized leaf material for increasing the electrochemical performance via low-temperature polymerization method. As-synthesized carbonized leaf material at 850°C(CTL-850)-based electrode and polypyrrole-coated carbonized leaf material(CTL-850/PPy)-based electrode displayed outstanding specific capacitances of 100.2 and 155.3F g-1 at 1 A g-1 with opertaing window of -1.0V and 1.0V. Asymmetric supercapacitor device, assembled with CTL-850 as the negative electrode and CTL-850/PPy as the positive electrode, manifested specific capacitance of 31.1F g-1(@1 A g-1) with widened operating voltage window of 2.0V. Moreover, as-prepared asymmetric supercapacitor device was able to lighten up the RED Led (1.8V), suggesting the high capacitance and extension of operating voltage window. The result of this research may help to pave the new possibility toward preparing the effective energy storage device material recycling the biomass.
