In textured material, diffraction angle 2θ usually shows a nonlinear relation against sin^2Ψ due to elastic anisotropy of crystals. SPHD and SPCD steel is cold-rolled carbon steel for automobile. The characteristics X-ray for stress measurement is Cr K_α and Mo K_α1characteristic X-ray. The sin^2Ψ-2θ diagram under elastic strain seems to have a linear behavior using regression line of data but has a nonlinear behavior in distribution of data by Cr K_αcharacteristic X-ray. As the plastic strain of specimen increases, the nonlinearity of 2θ with respect to sin^2Ψ increases remarkably. On the other hand, the diffraction angle 2 θ by Mo K_α1 characteristic X-ray shows a good linearity on sin^2Ψ-2θ diagram under plastic strain as well as elastic strain. Therefore, This paper presents the measurement of residual stress in cold-rolled carbon steel for automobile using penetration depth of Mo K_α1 charateristic X-ray and multiplicity factor of crystal diffraction plane.

Ultrasonic inspection of defects has been focused on the existence of defect in structural material and need has much time and expenses in inspecting all the coordinates (x, y) on material surface. Neural networks is information processing system modeling human brain and can have an application to coordinates (x, y) of defects by multi-point inspection method. Ultrasonic inspection modeling is optimized by neural networks which makes defect echo, back-wall echo and ultrasonic transducer units of input layer and absolute and relative coordinates of defects and defect pattern units of output layer. This method can predict coordinates (x, y) of defects within engineering estimated mean error Ψ.

Despite advancements in treating ruptured cerebral aneurysms, an aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH) is still a grave cerebrovascular disease associated with a high rate of morbidity and mortality. Based on the literature published to date, world-wide academic and governmental committees have developed clinical practice guidelines (CPGs) to propose standards for disease management in order to achieve the best treatment outcomes for aSAHs. In 2013, the Korean Society of Cerebrovascular Surgeons issued a Korean version of the CPGs for aSAHs. The group researched all articles and major foreign CPGs published in English until December 2015 using several search engines. Based on these articles, levels of evidence and grades of recommendations were determined by our society as well as by other related Quality Control Committees from neurointervention, neurology and rehabilitation medicine. The Korean version of the CPGs for aSAHs includes risk factors, diagnosis, initial management, medical and surgical management to prevent rebleeding, management of delayed cerebral ischemia and vasospasm, treatment of hydrocephalus, treatment of medical complications and early rehabilitation. The CPGs are not the absolute standard but are the present reference as the evidence is still incomplete, each environment of clinical practice is different, and there is a high probability of variation in the current recommendations. The CPGs will be useful in the fields of clinical practice and research.

Background: The sensitivities and specificities of interferon-gamma release assays (IGRAs) vary among different population studies, and the data on the routine use of IGRAs are limited. The aim of this study was to evaluate the role of QuantiFERON-TB Gold In-Tube (QFT-GIT) test in the diagnosis of active tuberculosis. Methods: We conducted a prospective study, enrolling 77 patients with suspected pulmonary tuberculosis (TB), at a secondary care teaching hospital in Seoul. Results: In total, 12 (15.6%) patients showed indeterminate results due to positive control failure on the QFT-GIT test. Indeterminate results were significantly associated with the elderly, history of the intensive care unit stay, lymphocytopenia, especially low CD4 count, increased C-reactive protein and decreased protein levels. Of the 77 patients, 44 (57.1%) were diagnosed with active pulmonary tuberculosis, and the percentage of false negative results of the QFT-GIT was 36.4% (vs. 31.8% with TST). In the TB group with >65 years old (n=12), the proportions of the indeterminate (33.3% vs. 3.1%) and the false negative results (58.3% vs. 25.0%) of the QFT-GIT were significantly higher than in the younger TB group (n=32). Conclusion: Indeterminate and false negative results of QFT-GIT test were not infrequent in tuberculosis, especially in the elderly. Care should be considered for the interpretation with the elderly, immunocompromised, chronic and severely diseased patients.

Human Q fever, a zoonosis caused by Coxiella burnetii, presents with diverse clinical manifestations ranging from mild self-limited febrile illnesses to life-threatening complications such as endocarditis or vascular infection. Although acute Q fever is a benign illness with a low mortality rate, a large-scale outbreak of Q fever in the Netherlands led to concerns about the possibility of blood transfusion-related transmission or obstetric complications in pregnant women. Furthermore, a small minority (< 5%) of patients with asymptomatic or symptomatic infection progress to chronic Q fever. Chronic Q fever is fatal in 5–50% of patients if left untreated. In South Korea, Q fever in humans was designated as a notifiable infectious disease in 2006, and the number of Q fever cases has increased sharply since 2015. Nonetheless, it is still considered a neglected and under-recognized infectious disease. In this review, recent trends of human and animal Q fever in South Korea, and public health concerns regarding Q fever outbreaks are reviewed, and we consider how a One Health approach could be applied as a preventive measure to prepare for zoonotic Q fever outbreaks.

머리뼈바닥의 발생 중에 일어나는 연골속뼈발생은 다양한 세포현상과 연골바탕질 대사가 관여하는 매우 복잡한 과정이다. 연골세포에서는 증식, 형태변화, 증식 종료, 비대, 세포자멸사가 일어나고, 연골세포 주변으로는 연골바탕질이 활발하게 생성되었다가 제거되면서 뼈조직에 의해서 대체됨이 밝혀졌다. 그러나 이러한 복잡한 변화가 일어나는 동안 미세관이 어떠한 역할을 하는지에 대해서는 뚜렷하게 밝혀진 바가 없다. 그러므로 본 연구는 머리뼈바닥 발생 중 연골속뼈발생 동안의 미세관의 역할을 밝히고자 하였다. 미세관의 구성 단백질인 튜불린에 결합하는 약물 노코다졸을 사용하여 머리뼈바닥 조직을 기관배양 함으로써 미세관과 머리뼈바닥 발생의 관계를 조사하였다. 배양된 조직에서 일어나는 형태학적, 분자적 변화를 확인하기 위하여 헤마톡실린-에오신염색, 면역조직화학염색, 세포 개수 계산을 통한 분석이 이루어졌다. 나비뒤통수결합 부위 내의 미세관에 가해진 변화에 의해서 Ki67, 뼈발생표지자 BSP, BMP4의 발현이 감소하였다. 비대층 구역에서는 연골세포의 비대과정이 억제되었고, 뼈발생중심에서는 연골조직의 제거 및 뼈조직의 생성이 억제되었다. 본 연구는 미세관이 연골속뼈발생의 다양한 과정에 관여함을 밝혔다. 이러한 결과는 머리뼈 성장 및 머리뼈 바닥 기형과 관련된 질병을 이해하는 자료로 사용될 수 있을 것으로 사료된다. Endochondral bone formation of the developing cranial base is a complex process. This mechanism requires precise orchestration of many cellular events and cartilage matrix metabolism, such as proliferation, becoming round in shape, termination of proliferation, hypertrophic size-increase, and finally programmed cell death. Active formation and degradation of cartilage matrix take place, in which microtubules are involved for intracellular events; bone apposition follows these events. However, the involvement of microtubules during these changes in the developing cranial base has not been identified yet. Thus, we investigated the involvement of microtubules in the regulation of endochondral bone formation during cranial base development. Using tubulin-binding drug nocodazole, we examined the effects of altering the structure and function of microtubules during in vivo organ culture of the mouse cranial base. Cultured specimens were analyzed with HE staining, immunohistochemistry, and cell counting in order to study the morphological and molecular changes that occurred in the tissues. Disruption of the microtubular array by nocodazole reduced cells expressing proliferation marker Ki67, osteogenic marker BSP, and BMP4 within the sphenooccipital synchondrosis region; chondrocyte hypertrophy was ceased in the hypertrophic zone; degeneration of cartilage matrix and bone matrix apposition was inhibited in the ossification center of the basooccipital cranial base. Our data demonstrated that disruption of microtubules by nocodazole have multiple inhibitory effects on the sequential changes that occur during endochondral bone formation, suggesting the importance of normal microtubule-polymerization in cranial base development.
