In fact, the Bangladesh government received a slogan of "Digital Bangladesh" in the government``s Election Manifesto of2008. This paper aims to evaluate the readiness of e-Government status of Bangladesh. In this study reviewed and analyzed three frontline global surveys to assess the country``s e-Government status in comparison to other south Asian countries and also employed the SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats) analysis and PEST (Political, Economic, Social and Technological) determinants to evaluate the current state of e-Government in Bangladesh and its preparedness. Conceding the necessity of employing the new electronic means, information, and communication technologies, the movement toward implementation of e-government in Bangladesh has recently received the attention of country``s chief executive and policy makers. Many strengths and opportunities stimulate the development of e-Government in Bangladesh such as economic policies, strong political willingness, suitable educational system to generate tech savvy future generation and low labor cost. However, Bangladesh also faces new threats and challenges such as the significant increase in the number of cyber crimes, security and privacy concern. Finally, conclusion and study implication drawn up for future direction.
