• Zearalenone exposure affects epigenetic modifications of mouse eggs

        Zhu, Cheng-Cheng,Hou, Yan-Jun,Han, Jun,Cui, Xiang-Shun,Kim, Nam-Hyung,Sun, Shao-Chen Oxford University Press 2014 Mutagenesis Vol.29 No.6

Zearalenone (ZEA) is a mycotoxin produced by various Fusarium fungi, which has been shown to cause several cases of mycotoxicosis in farm animals and humans. However, there is no evidence regarding the effect of ZEA on mouse egg developmental competence. In this study, we found that the activation rate of maturated oocytes was affected in mice by ZEA treatment, indicating that ZEA affects egg developmental competence. And we explored possible mechanisms of low mouse maturated oocyte developmental competence after ZEA treatment from an epigenetic modification perspective. The fluorescence intensity analysis showed that 5-methyl cytosine level increased after ZEA treatment, indicating that the general DNA methylation level increased in the treated eggs. Moreover, histone methylations were also altered: H3K4me2 as well as H3K9me3 and H4K20me1, me2, me3 levels decreased in eggs that were cultured in high-dose ZEA medium. Thus, our results indicated that ZEA decreased egg developmental competence by affecting the epigenetic modifications.

An Asynchronous Operation Approach to Event-Triggered Control for Fuzzy Markovian Jump Systems With General Switching Policies

Cheng, Jun,Park, Ju H.,Zhang, Lixian,Zhu, Yanzheng Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, 2018 IEEE transactions on fuzzy systems Vol.26 No.1

This paper investigates the problem of event-triggered control for a class of fuzzy Markov jump systems with general switching policies. A novel event-triggered scheme is proposed to improve the transmission efficiency at each sampling instance. Each transition rate allows to be unknown, known, or only its uncertain domains value is known. With the help of a tailored technique to bind the uncertain terms and an asynchronous operation approach to tackle the fuzzy system and fuzzy controller, sufficient conditions for the resulting fuzzy Markovian jump systems are established in terms of coupled linear matrix inequalities. Finally, an example is given to illustrate the validity of the developed technique.

Finite-time Boundness of H∞ Filtering for Switching Discrete-Time Systems

        Jun Cheng,Hong Zhu,Shouming Zhong,Yu-Ping Zhang 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2012 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.10 No.6

For switched discrete-time systems, switching behavior always affect the finite-time stability property, which was neglected by most previous research. This paper investigated the problem of finite-time boundness of H∞ filtering for switched discrete-time systems. Sufficient conditions which can ensure finite-time bounded and H∞ filtering finite-time boundness under arbitrary switching are derived. Based on the results of finite-time boundness and stochastic character, the closed-loop system trajectory stays within a prescribed bound. An example is given to illustrate the efficiency of the proposed method.

(m,N)-delay-partitioning Approach to stability Analysis for T-S Fuzzy systems with Interval Time-varying Delay

        Jun Yang,Wenpin Luo,Yong-Hu Wang,Jun Cheng 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2016 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.14 No.2

This paper is concerned with improved stability criteria for uncertain T-S fuzzy systems with intervaltime-varying delay by means of a new (m;N)-delay-partitioning approach. Based on an appropriate augmented LKFestablished in the framework of state vector augmentation, some tighter bounding inequalities (Seuret-Wirtinger’sintegral inequality, Peng-Park’s integral inequality and the reciprocally convex approach) have been employed todeal with (time-varying) delay-dependent integral items of the derivative of LKF, therefore, less conservative delaydependentstability criteria can be obtained on account of none of any useful time-varying items are arbitrarilyignored. It’s worth mentioning that, when the delay-partitioning number m is fixed, less conservatism can beachieved by increase of another delay-partitioning number N, but without increasing any computing burden. Finally, one numerical example is provided to show that the proposed conditions are less conservative than existing ones.

Effect of hanging-type sand fence on characteristics of wind-sand flow fields

        Cheng, Jian-jun,Lei, Jia-qiang,Li, Sheng-yu,Wang, Hai-feng Techno-Press 2016 Wind and Structures, An International Journal (WAS Vol.22 No.5

A hanging-type sand-retaining wall is a very common sand-blocking fence structure used to prevent sand movement. This type of wall is widely used along the Qinghai-Tibet and Gobi desert railways in Xinjiang, Western China. To analyze the characteristics of wind-sand flow fields under the effect of such a sand fence structure, a wind tunnel test and a field test were carried out. The wind tunnel test showed the zoning characteristics of the flow fields under the effect of the hanging-type sand-retaining wall, and the field test provided the sediment transport data for effective wind-proof interval and the sand resistance data in the front and behind the sand-retaining wall. The consistency of the wind-sand flow fields with the spatial distribution characteristic of wind-carried sand motion was verified by the correspondences of the acceleration zone in the flow field and the negative elevation points of the percentage variations of the sand collection rate. The spatial distribution characteristic of the field sand collection data further showed the spatial structural characteristic of the sandy air currents under the action of the hanging-type sand-retaining wall and the sand resistance characteristic of the sand-retaining wall. This systematic study on the wind-sand flow fields under the control of the hanging-type sand-retaining wall provides a theoretical basis for the rational layout of sand control engineering systems and the efficient utilization of a hanging-type sand-retaining wall.

Improving the CO2 fixation rate by increasing flow rate of the flue gas from microalgae in a raceway pond

        Jun Cheng,Zongbo Yang,Junhu Zhou,Kefa Cen 한국화학공학회 2018 Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering Vol.35 No.2

Residence time of flue gas bubbles with different solution velocities and the influence of NOX and SO2 from flue gas on pH values of culture solutions were analyzed based on large-scale raceway reactors. Microalgal growth and CO2 fixation rates were also investigated with different gas flow rates. Bubble residence time was ~1.1 s when the solution velocity was 20 cm/s. The NOX and SO2 effects on microalgal growth were negligible, although 66% NOX and 95% SO2 were captured by the microalgal solution. Microalgal biomass productivity increased from 10.3 to 14.1 g/m2/d when flue gas flow rate increased from 20 to 50m3/h. CO2 fixation and microalgae biomass productivity increased further from 26.3 to 31.9 g/m2/d and from 14.1 to 17.1 g/m2/d, respectively, upon increase of flue gas flow rate from 50 to 150m3/h.
