이준호(Joonho Lee),안태호(Taeho Ahn),이윤숙(Yoonsuk Lee),이윤준(Yoonjoon Lee) 한국정보과학회 1988 한국정보과학회 학술발표논문집 Vol.15 No.2
Seismic Performance Evaluation of Apartment Buildings with Central Core
Lee, Joonho,Han, Seungho,Kim, Jinkoo Council on Tall Building and Urban Habitat Korea 2014 International journal of high-rise buildings Vol.3 No.1
In this study the seismic performances of reinforced concrete apartment buildings with Y- and box-shaped plans having central core are investigated. Three types of model structures are designed for each shape depending on the amount of shear partition walls: structures with all shear walls, structures with all columns except the core walls, and structures with shear walls and columns combined. The required amount of concrete to satisfy the specified design loads is the largest in the all shear wall structures, and decreases as more and more shear walls are replaced with columns. The amount of re-bars increased significantly in the flat plate structures. According to nonlinear static and dynamic analysis results, the structures with all shear walls and all columns turn out to have the largest and the smallest strengths, respectively. However it is observed that even the all-column structures with shear core have proper load resisting capacity for design level seismic load.
Seismic performance evaluation of moment frames with slit-friction hybrid dampers
Lee, Joonho,Kim, Jinkoo Techno-Press 2015 Earthquakes and structures Vol.9 No.6
This study investigates the seismic energy dissipation capacity of a hybrid passive damper composed of a friction and a hysteretic slit damper. The capacity of the hybrid device required to satisfy a given target performance of a reinforced concrete moment resisting frame designed with reduced design base shear is determined based on the ASCE/SEI 7-10 process, and the seismic performances of the structures designed without and with the hybrid dampers are verified by nonlinear dynamic analyses. Fragility analysis is carried out to investigate the probability of a specified limit state to be reached. The analysis results show that in the structure with hybrid dampers the residual displacements are generally reduced and the dissipated inelastic energy is mostly concentrated on the dampers. At the Moderate to Extensive damage states the fragility turned out to be smallest in the structure with the hybrid dampers.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>Acute chorioamnionitis, frequently observed in preterm placentas, is a major risk factor for the development of infection and non‐infection‐related adverse perinatal outcomes. MicroRNAs play important roles in immune cell development and function as well as in the development of cancers and neurologic diseases. We sought to investigate the changes in microRNA‐223 (miR‐223) expression and the functional significance of the changes in miR‐223 expression in foetal organs in the presence of acute chorioamnionitis. Using formalin‐fixed, paraffin‐embedded (FFPE) tissue samples from foetal or neonatal autopsy cases, which are the most practical option to study the changes in several organs simultaneously, miR‐223 expression profiles in foetal thymus, lung and liver were compared between cases with and without acute chorioamnionitis. Total RNA was extracted from FFPE specimens and qRT‐PCR was conducted. miR‐223‐3p expression levels in foetal thymus (2.55‐fold), lung (1.93‐fold) and liver (1.70‐fold) were significantly higher in cases with acute chorioamnionitis than in those without. Transfection of pre‐miR‐223‐3p in Jurkat cells and luciferase assay and ribonucleoprotein immunoprecipitation followed by qRT‐PCR analysis confirmed the binding of miR‐223 to the 3′ untranslated region (3′UTR) of forkhead box O1 (FoxO1) mRNA and the regulation of FoxO1 by miR‐223. We report for the first time that foetuses with inflammation in the chorioamniotic membranes show increased expression of miR‐223 in the thymus, lung and liver. Furthermore, FoxO1 is a target of miR‐223. These findings suggest that post‐transcriptional regulation of genes by miR‐223 is a component of the foetal inflammatory response, which has systemic consequences in the foetus.</P>

<P>Cytological examination of urine is the most widely used noninvasive pathologic screen for bladder urothelial carcinoma (BLCA); however, inadequate diagnostic accuracy remains a major challenge. We performed mass spectrometry-based proteomic analysis of urine samples of ten patients with BLCA and ten paired patients with benign urothelial lesion (BUL) to identify ancillary proteomic markers for use in liquid-based cytology (LBC). A total of 4,839 proteins were identified and 112 proteins were confirmed as expressed at significantly different levels between the two groups. We also performed an independent proteomic profiling of tumor tissue samples where we identified 7,916 proteins of which 758 were differentially expressed. Cross-platform comparisons of these data with comparative mRNA expression profiles from The Cancer Genome Atlas identified four putative candidate proteins, AHNAK, EPPK1, MYH14 and OLFM4. To determine their immunocytochemical expression levels in LBC, we examined protein expression data from The Human Protein Atlas and in-house FFPE samples. We further investigated the expression of the four candidate proteins in urine cytology samples from two independent validation cohorts. These analyses revealed AHNAK as a unique intracellular protein differing in immunohistochemical expression and subcellular localization between tumor and non-tumor cells. In conclusion, this study identified a new biomarker, AHNAK, applicable to discrimination between BLCA and BUL by LBC. To our knowledge, the present study provides the first identification of a clinical biomarker for LBC based on in-depth proteomics.</P>
Development of box-shaped steel slit dampers for seismic retrofit of building structures
Lee, Joonho,Kim, Jinkoo Elsevier 2017 Engineering structures Vol.150 No.-
<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>In this study a steel slit damper is developed by combining four steel slit plates to be used for seismic retrofit of structures. The proposed damper consists of four slit plates integrated into a box shape, and can produce larger damping force in relatively small size compared with the conventional slit plate dampers composed of single slit plate. Cyclic loading tests of two damper specimens are carried out to evaluate their seismic energy dissipation capability. The slit dampers are applied to seismic retrofit of an existing reinforced concrete structure using the procedure developed based on the capacity spectrum method. Nonlinear dynamic analysis of the model structure shows that the dampers installed using the proposed procedure are effective in restraining the building displacement within a given target performance limit state. The time history of the hysteretic energy dissipation shows that most seismic energy is dissipated by the dampers while the structural elements mostly remain elastic.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> A steel slit damper is developed by combining four steel slit plates to be used for seismic retrofit of structures. </LI> <LI> Cyclic loading tests of two damper specimens are carried out to evaluate their seismic energy dissipation capability. </LI> <LI> The slit dampers are applied to seismic retrofit of a model structure using capacity spectrum method. </LI> <LI> The dampers are effective in restraining the building displacement within a given target performance limit state. </LI> </UL> </P>
