A simple solvothermal reaction was used to prepare a 3-aminopropyl-functionalized silica-gel-based adsorbent for adsorbing Pd(II) from the nitric acid solution. Scanning electron microscopy, fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and thermogravimetry analysis were performed on the as-synthesized adsorbent to demonstrate the successful introduction of Schiff base groups. Batch experiments were used to investigate the effects of contact time, nitric acid concentration, solution temperature, and adsorption capacity. It is worth noting that the prepared adsorbent exhibited a higher affinity toward Pd(II) with the uptake approximately 100% even in a 2 M HNO3 solution. At an equilibrium time of 5 h, the maximum adsorption capacity of Pd(II) was estimated to be 0.452 mmol/g. The adsorbed Pd(II) could be completely eluted by dissolving 0.2 M thiourea solution in 0.1 M HNO3. Using a combination of particle-induced Xray emission analysis and an X-ray photoelectron spectrometer, the adsorbed Pd was found to be uniformly distributed on the surface of the prepared adsorbent and the existing species were Pd(II) and zero-valent Pd(0). Due to the desirable performances, facile preparation method, and abundant raw material source, the prepared adsorbent demonstrated a high application potential in the recovery of Pd(II) from simulated high-level liquid waste treatment

Combination of chemotherapy and immune checkpoint inhibitor therapy has greatly improved the anticancer effect on multiple malignancies. However, the efficiency on triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is limited, since most patients bear “cold” tumors with low tumor immunogenicity. Doxorubicin (DOX), one of the most effective chemotherapy agents, can induce immunogenic cell death (ICD) and thus initiating immune response.In this study, to maximize the ICD effect induced by DOX, chitosan and cell-penetrating peptide (R6F3)-modified nanoparticles (PNPs) loaded with ginsenoside Rg3 (Rg3) were fabricated using the self-assembly technique, followed by co-encapsulation with DOX based on thermo-sensitive hydrogel. Orthotopic tumor model and contralateral tumor model were established to observe the antitumor efficacy of the thermo-sensitive hydrogel combined with anti-PD-L1 immunotherapy, besides, the biocompatibility was also evaluated by histopathological.Rg3-PNPs strengthened the immunogenic cell death (ICD) effect induced by DOX. Moreover, the hydrogel co-loading Rg3-PNPs and DOX provoked stronger immune response in originally nonimmunogenic 4T1 tumors than DOX monotherapy. Following combination with PD-L1 blocking, substantial antitumor effect was achieved due to the recruitment of memory T cells and the decline of adaptive PD-L1 enrichment.The hydrogel encapsulating DOX and highly permeable Rg3-PNPs provided an efficient strategy for remodeling immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment and converting immune “cold” 4T1 into “hot” tumors.

<P><B>Background</B></P><P>Although invariant natural killer T (iNKT) cells have been shown to play a critical role in the pathogenesis of asthma, the role of iNKT cells in atopic dermatitis (AD) has not been well evaluated.</P><P><B>Objective</B></P><P>We investigated whether iNKT cells in patients with AD increased and whether iNKT cells were activated by thymic stromal lymphopoietin (TSLP), which is highly expressed in keratinocytes of AD.</P><P><B>Methods</B></P><P>We assessed the population of iNKT cells in PBMCs of patients with AD and healthy controls (HCs) using flow cytometry. Immunohistochemistry was used to evaluate iNKT cells and TSLP expression in AD and HC skin. We also evaluated whether iNKT cells expressed the TSLP receptor, the effects of TSLP on iNKT cells, and iNKT cell–dendritic cell interactions in a TSLP-rich environment.</P><P><B>Results</B></P><P>There were more iNKT cells among PBMCs of patients with moderate to severe AD than mild AD (<I>P</I> < .05) and HC (<I>P</I> < .001). The number of iNKT cells was significantly larger in severe AD skin lesions than in mild (<I>P</I> < .001) or moderate AD skin lesions (<I>P</I> < .05). TSLP expression increased in lesional skin (<I>P</I> < .001) but not in the sera of patients with AD (<I>P</I> = .729) compared with HC. iNKT cells expressed TSLP receptor protein and mRNA. TSLP directly activated iNKT cells to secrete IL-4 and IL-13, and the concurrent addition of dendritic cells further activated IFN-γ expression.</P><P><B>Conclusion</B></P><P>Increased iNKT cells activated by TSLP, especially in patients with severe AD, might play an essential role in the innate allergic immune response in AD.</P>

<P>While nonfullerene small-molecule solar cells (NF-SMSCs) have relatively inferior performance compared with nonfullerene polymer solar cells, their performance is improving. In this work, a weak crystalline molecular donor BSFTR, was designed and synthesized to achieve efficient NF-SMSCs. By blending with a strong crystalline acceptor NBDTP-Fout, BSFTR achieves a well-intermixed blending morphology, which favors the formation of efficient charge percolation pathways with suppressed recombination. The BSFTR:NBDTP-Fout device obtains a power-conversion efficiency (PCE) of approximately 11.97% by achieving an efficient cathode interfacial layer (CIL)-free device that delivers an even higher PCE of 12.3%, which ranks among the top values for the reported NF-SMSCs. This work provides a simple solution for achieving high-performance NF-SMSCs by identifying the key factors for designing efficient, cost-saving, mass production-favorable CIL-free organic photovoltaic devices.</P>
The Globalization of Taekwondo

Purpose: As a traditional Korean sport with a long history, Taekwondo has transformed from the traditional martial art to modern sport in 30 years and has achieved globalization in a Western-sport dominated world. The purpose of this research is to describe Taekwon-do’s globalization as a special sports phenomenon in the process of globalization, elucidate its great theoretical and practical significance to describe, and explain the experience of globalization and to guide the development of other traditional Asian sports. Methods: We reviewed, retrieved, and collected papers from Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI) on globalization and that referred to Taekwondo literature the Korean Congress e-library (www.nanet.go.kr). We conducted interviews in order to collect relevant first-hand information. We performed a literature review and logical analysis and combined them with the interviews to determine the development of Taekwondo’s globalization. Results: As a sport, Taekwondo has been accepted by internationally renowned sports groups and organizations. It became a formal sport in international competitions, heading in the direction of the competitive sport, and therefore has gradually spread globally. In the process of global promotion, Taekwondo adopted different development modes, such as Asia's “from point to plane,” Europe's “adjust measures to local conditions,” America‘s “from top to bottom,” Africa's “from bottom to top,” and Oceania’s “push the strong to lead the weak.” Inclusion into the Olympic Games as a core sport and the acceptation of the international sports organizations were a shortcut to the global development of Taekwondo. Conclusions: Choosing the path of transforming into competitive sport, generating different development modes according to regions, as well as taking the Olympic globalization boat, were the keys to Taekwondo globalization.
Four-Leg Object Recognition for Service Robot Based on Top-hat Transformation

A method of object recognition for objects with special topological structure is developed based on top-hat transformation for service robot. The objects with four legs are easily detected and recognized by service robot with laser ranger array by this method. First, the top-hat transformation in one dimension is reviewed, then the recognition strategy of self-adapting threshold for objects with special topological structure is proposed, and the general data process for object recognition and position is proposed and analyzed. Experimental results show that the process of object recognition based on top-hat transformation proposed in this article is an effective and accurate application.

A hydrophobic ionic liquid including an amino moiety ([DiOcAPmim][NTf<sub>2</sub>]) was synthesized. Its extraction behaviors towards Pd(II), Ru(III), Rh(III) were investigated in nitric acid aqueous solution as a function of contact time, effect of concentration of nitric acid, effect of temperature, and effect of co-existing metal ions. The extraction kinetics of Pd(II) was fairly fast and extraction equilibrium can be attained within only 5 min under the [HNO<sub>3</sub>] = 2.05 M. When [HNO<sub>3</sub>]< 1 M, the extraction percentage of Pd(II), Ru(III), Rh(III) were all above 80%. When [HNO<sub>3</sub>] reached 2 M, all of the extraction percentage decreased and in an order of Pd(II)>Ru(III)>Rh(III). When [HNO<sub>3</sub>]> 2 M, the extraction performance gradually recovered. The effect of temperature can slightly affect the extraction performance of Pd(II). Furthermore, in simulated high-level liquid waste, [DiOcAPmim][NTf<sub>2</sub>] showed a better preference towards Pd(II) under the interference of various other co-existing metal ions.
