      • Colorectal Cancer Mortality Characteristics and Predictions in China, 1991-2011

        Fang, Jia-Ying,Dong, Hong-Li,Sang, Xue-Jin,Xie, Bin,Wu, Ku-Sheng,Du, Pei-Ling,Xu, Zhen-Xi,Jia, Xiao-Yue,Lin, Kun Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2015 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.16 No.17

Background: To identify the epidemiological characteristics of colorectal cancer mortality in China during the period of 1991-2011, and forecast the future five-year trend. Materials and Methods: Mortality data for colorectal cancer in China from 1991 to 2011 was used to describe epidemiological characteristics in terms of age group, gender, and rural/urban residence. Trend surface analysis was performed to analyze the geographical distribution of colorectal cancer. Four models including curve estimation, time series modeling, gray modeling and joinpoint regression were applied to forecast the trends for the future five years. Results: Since 1991 the colorectal cancer mortality rate increased yearly, and our results showed that the trend would continue to increase in the ensuing 5 years. The mortality rate in males was higher than that of females and the rate in urban areas was higher than in rural areas. The mortality rate was relatively low for individuals less than 60 years of age, but increased dramatically afterwards. People living in the northeastern China provinces or in eastern China had a higher mortality rate for colorectal cancer than those living in middle or western China provinces. Conclusions: The steadily increasing mortality of colorectal cancer in China will become a substantial public health burden in the foreseeable future. For this increasing trend to be controlled, further efforts should concentrate on educating the general public to increase prevention and early detection by screening. More effective prevention and management strategies are needed in higher mortality areas (Eastern parts of China) and high-risk populations (60+ years old).

      • Characteristics and Prediction of Lung Cancer Mortality in China from 1991 to 2013

Fang, Jia-Ying,Dong, Hong-Li,Wu, Ku-Sheng,Du, Pei-Ling,Xu, Zhen-Xi,Lin, Kun Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2015 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.16 No.14

Objective: To describe and analyze the epidemiological characteristics of lung cancer mortality in China from 1991 to 2013, forecast the future five-year trend and provide scientific evidence for prevention and management of lung cancer. Materials and Methods: Mortality data for lung cancer in China from 1991 to 2013 were used to describe epidemiological characteristics. Trend surface analysis was applied to analyze the geographical distribution of lung cancer. Four models, curve estimation, time series modeling, gray modeling (GM) and joinpoint regression, were performed to forecast the trend for the future. Results: Since 1991 the mortality rate of lung cancer increased yearly. The rate for males was higher than that for females and rates in urban areas were higher than in rural areas. In addition, our results showed that the trend will continue to increase in the ensuing 5 years. The mortality rate increased from age 45-50 and peaked in the group of 85 years old. Geographical analysis indicated that people living in northeast China provinces and the coastal provinces in eastern China had a higher mortality rate for lung cancer than those living in the centre or western Chinese provinces. Conclusions: The standardized mortality rate of lung cancer has constantly increased from 1991 to 2013, and been predicted to continue in the ensuing 5 years. Further efforts should be concentrated on education of the general public to increase prevention and early detection. Much better prevention and management is needed in high mortality areas (northeastern and eastern parts of China) and high risk populations (45-50-year-olds).

      • A Systemic Analysis on Pemetrexed in Treating Patients with Breast Cancer

Wan, Fang,Chen, Xin,Dong, Li-Fan,Cheng, Yue-Hong,Long, Jing-Pei Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.11

Background: This systemic analysis was conducted to evaluate the efficacy and safety of pemetrexed based chemotherapy in treating patients with metastatic breast cancer as first or second line chemotherapy. Methods: Clinical studies evaluating the efficacy and safety of pemetrexed based regimens on response and safety for patients with breast cancer were identified using a predefined search strategy. Pooled response rate (RR) of treatment were calculated. Results: In first line pemetrexed based regimens, 10 clinical studies which including 513 patients with advanced breast cancer were considered eligible for inclusion. For second line pemetrexed based chemotherapy, 5 clinical studies which including 281 patients with advanced breast cancer were considered eligible. Systemic analysis suggested that, in all patients, pooled RR was 32.6% (167/513) in pemetrexed based first line regimens, and 13.9 % (39/281) in pemetrexed based second line regimens. Major adverse effects were neutropenia, leukopenia, fatigue, and anemia in pemetrexed based first line treatment; and lymphopenia, neutropenia, leukopenia, as well as anemia in second line chemotherapy. One treatment related death occurred with pemetrexed based second line treatment. Conclusion: This systemic analysis suggests that pemetrexed based first line regimens are associated with a reasonable response rate and acceptable toxicity, however with low response rate for treating patients with metastatic breast cancer when is used in the second line.

Nitrogen Defects-Rich 0D/2D α-Fe2O3/g-C3N4 Z-Scheme Photocatalyst for Enhanced Photooxidation and H2 Evolution Efficiencies

        Chaocheng Zhao,Shuaijun Wang,Qingyun Yan,Pei Dong,Yongqiang Wang,Fang Liu,Lin Li 성균관대학교(자연과학캠퍼스) 성균나노과학기술원 2018 NANO Vol.13 No.7

Rational design and construction of Z-scheme photocatalysts have received much attention in the fields of organic pollutants degradation and H2 evolution because of their potentials to solve the current environmental and energy crises. Herein, a novel nitrogen defects-rich 0D/2D α-Fe2O3/g-C3N4 Z-scheme photocatalyst was fabricated via a one-pot co-pyrolysis method. Quantum-sized α-Fe2O3 dots with a diameter of approximately 5 nm were uniformly distributed on the surface of 2D g-C3N4. Besides, the prepared 0D/2D α-Fe2O3/g-C3N4 composites exhibited excellent RhB degradation ability and simultaneous H2 evolution efficiency. In comparison with 2D g-C3N4, the RhB degradation rate and H2 evolution catalyzed by 0D/2D α-Fe2O3/g-C3N4 were enhanced 3.9 and 1.8 times, respectively. The improved photoredox activity was predominantly attributed to the formation of the nitrogen defects and a Z-scheme heterojunction. This study provides novel insights into the design and fabrication of nitrogen defects-rich g-C3N4-based Z-scheme photocatalysts for the simultaneous environmental purification and H2 evolution.

Morphology and Molecular Characterization of a Fungus from the Alternaria alternata Species Complex Causing Black Spots on Pyrus sinkiangensis (Koerle pear)

( Sein Lai Lai Aung ),( Hai Feng Liu ),( Dong Fang Pei ),( Bing Bin Lu ),( May Moe Oo ),( Jian Xin Deng ) 한국균학회 2020 Mycobiology Vol.48 No.3

A small-spored Alternaria was found from black spots of storaged Koerle pear (Pyrus sinkiangensis), one of the economically important fruit in Xinjiang province, China. The morphology is similar to A. limoniasperae but obviously different in secondary conidiophores and conidial septa. A phylogenetic analysis using sequence datasets of ITS, GAPDH, TEF1, RPB2, Alt a1, OPA10-2, and EndoPG genes revealed that it belonged to the Alternaria alternata complex group. Pathogenicity tests illustrated that the fungus was the causal pathogen of black spot on Koerle pear fruit.
