Tightened-Normal-Tightened Group Acceptance Sampling Plan for Assuring Percentile Life
Muhammad Aslam,Muhammad Azam,Chi-Hyuck Jun 대한산업공학회 2012 Industrial Engineeering & Management Systems Vol.11 No.4
The present paper extends the idea of tightened-normal-tightened sampling scheme to group acceptance sampling plans under the time truncated life tests. We consider three famous distributions that are widely used in the area of reliability such as the generalized exponential distribution, the Weibull distribution, and the Birnbaum-Saunders distribution in the proposed sampling plan. The plan parameters are determined such that the producer’s risk and the consumer’s risk are satisfied at the specified median life. Extensive tables showing plan parameters are provided at various values of the experiment time and the consumer’s risk for each of three distributions for the practical use. Some examples are given to illustrate the procedure of the proposed plan.
New Attributes and Variables Control Charts under Repetitive Sampling
Muhammad Aslam,Muhammad Azam,Chi-Hyuck Jun 대한산업공학회 2014 Industrial Engineeering & Management Systems Vol.13 No.1
New control charts under repetitive sampling are proposed, which can be used for variables and attributes quality characteristics. The proposed control charts have inner and outer control limits so that repetitive sampling may be needed if the plotted statistic falls between the two limits. Particularly, the new np and variable X-bar control charts under repetitive sampling are considered in detail. The in-control and out-of-control average run lengths are analyzed according to various process shifts. The performance of the proposed control charts is compared with the existing np and the X-bar control charts in terms of the average run lengths.
Application of Disaster Management Cycle on Flood Risk in Urban Areas of Pakistan: A Review
Muhammad Azam,Jae Eun Lee,Zeeshan Waheed,Muhammad Nauman Altaf 위기관리 이론과 실천 2021 Disastronomy Vol.4 No.1
A disaster prevention and mitigation cycle seem to be generally well-known tool in dealing with disasters as well as their consequences. Furthermore, use of this cycle in urban areas is still into doubt. As a result, this study takes a practical strategy to identify problems within its traditional disaster risk management cycle as well as its stages in the scenario of increasing urban floods throughout Pakistan. Semi-structured queries were used to examine flood risk management organizations. Three focus group talks were also undertaken to have a better understanding of the perspectives of various populations. Under each step, thematic analysis was utilized to classify opinions and responses. The results showed that climate change adaptation has become a critical component of long-term disaster risk reduction.
Identifying Influential People Based on Interaction Strength
( Muhammad Azam Zia ),( Zhongbao Zhang ),( Liutong Chen ),( Haseeb Ahmad ),( Sen Su ) 한국정보처리학회 2017 Journal of information processing systems Vol.13 No.4
Extraction of influential people from their respective domains has attained the attention of scholastic community during current epoch. This study introduces an innovative interaction strength metric for retrieval of the most influential users in the online social network. The interactive strength is measured by three factors, namely re-tweet strength, commencing intensity and mentioning density. In this article, we design a novel algorithm called IPRank that considers the communications from perspectives of followers and followees in order to mine and rank the most influential people based on proposed interaction strength metric. We conducted extensive experiments to evaluate the strength and rank of each user in the micro-blog network. The comparative analysis validates that IPRank discovered high ranked people in terms of interaction strength. While the prior algorithm placed some low influenced people at high rank. The proposed model uncovers influential people due to inclusion of a novel interaction strength metric that improves results significantly in contrast with prior algorithm.
A Novel Green Stabilization of TiO2 Nanoparticles onto Cotton
Muhammad Tayyab Noman,Muhammad Azeem Ashraf,Hafsa Jamshaid,Azam Ali 한국섬유공학회 2018 Fibers and polymers Vol.19 No.11
Facile embedding of TiO2 nanoparticles onto cotton fabric has been successfully attained by ultraviolet light irradiations. The adhesion of nanoparticles with fibre surface, tensile behaviour and physicochemical changes before and after ultraviolet treatment were investigated by scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive X-ray and inductive couple plasma-atomic emission spectroscopy. Experimental variables i.e. dosage of TiO2 nanoparticles, temperature of the system and time of ultraviolet irradiations were optimised by central composite design and response surface methodology. Moreover, two different mathematical models were developed for incorporated TiO2 onto cotton and tensile strength of cotton after ultraviolet treatment and used further to testify the obtained results. Self-clean fabric through a synergistic combination of cotton with highly photo active TiO2 nanoparticles was produced. Stability against ultraviolet irradiations and self-cleaning properties of the produced fabric were evaluated.
A HEWMA-CUSUM control chart for the Weibull distribution
Aslam, Muhammad,Azam, Muhammad,Jun, Chi-Hyuck Informa UK (TaylorFrancis) 2018 Communications in Statistics Vol.47 No.24
<P>The Weibull distribution is one of the most popular distributions for lifetime modeling. However, there has not been much research on control charts for a Weibull distribution. Shewhart control is known to be inefficient to detect a small shift in the process, while exponentially weighted moving average (EWMA) and cumulative sum control chart (CUSUM) charts have the ability to detect small changes in the process. To enhance the performance of a control chart for a Weibull distribution, we introduce a new control chart based on hybrid EWMA and CUSUM statistic, called the HEWMA-CUSUM chart. The performance of the proposed chart is compared with the existing chart in terms of the average run length (ARL). The proposed chart is found to be more sensitive than the existing chart in ARL. A simulation study is provided for illustration purposes. A real data is also applied to the proposed chart for practical use.</P>
