        트위터 마이크로블로그의 감정 언어 분석과 감정 지리학에 대한 이론적 고찰

        사회네트워크서비스(SNS)는 다양한 연구 분야의 중요한 데이터 소스로 점차 각광받고 있다. 특히, 트위터와 같은 마이크로블 로그에 대한 어휘 분석은 마이크로블로그가 탑재하고 있는 내용 뿐 아니라 지리 정보나 인적 네트워크와 같은 비어휘적 정보를 풍부하게 제공할 수 있기 때문에 매우 중요한 데이터 소스로 인식되고 있다. 본 연구는 다양한 어휘 분석적 접근 중에서 감정언어와 감정 지리학에 초점을 맞춘 마이크로블로그 분석의 최신 이슈들을 이론적으로 고찰하고자 한다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 감정 및 지리학에 관련된 세 가지 주요 연구 분야의 발전을 살펴본다. 먼저, 지리학과 컴퓨테이션 분야의 연구에 영향을 끼치고 있는 현대 심리학의 감정 분석에 대한 이론적 프레임워크를 살펴보고, 마이크로블로그의 감정 언어 분석과 감정 분류에 대한 주요 이슈와 컴퓨테이션 발전을 논의한다. 다음으로 감정 지리학과 관련한 마이크로블로그 분석 방법을 트위터를 중심으로 살펴본다. 마지막으로 마이크로블로그 분석과 관련하여 향후 보완되어야 할 연구 주제와 지리적 연구 목적을 위한 컴퓨테이션 방법의 개선에 대해 논의한다. Social networking services (SNS) have become an increasingly important source of data for various fields of research. In particular, lexical analysis of microblogs such as Twitter have become important sources of data both because of the content of the microblog itself and the metadata that provides a wealth of alternative non-lexical information about a tweet such as geographic location and network of acquaintances. Among various lexical approaches, this paper attempts to theoretically review the cutting edge issues of microblog analysis, particularly focusing on emotional language and the geography of emotion. For doing this, this paper explores the evolution of three distinct fields of research in relation to emotion and geography. First, we discuss the theoretical framework of emotional analysis in modern psychology which might affect research in both geographic and computational fields. Next, major issues and computational advancements into emotional language analysis on microblogs are discussed. And then, microblog analysis in relation to emotional geography is generally discussed focused on Twitter. Lastly, what should be conducted for future research and how computational methods can be improved for geographic research purposes are discussed.

        Biomaterials in Spinal Implants: A Review

        The aim to find the perfect biomaterial for spinal implant has been the focus of spinal research since the 1800s. Spinal surgery and the devices used therein have undergone a constant evolution in order to meet the needs of surgeons who have continued to further understand the biomechanical principles of spinal stability and have improved as new technologies and materials are available for production use. The perfect biomaterial would be one that is biologically inert/compatible, has a Young’s modulus similar to that of the bone where it is implanted, high tensile strength, stiffness, fatigue strength, and low artifacts on imaging. Today, the materials that have been most commonly used include stainless steel, titanium, cobalt chrome, nitinol (a nickel titanium alloy), tantalum, and polyetheretherketone in rods, screws, cages, and plates. Current advancements such as 3-dimensional printing, the ProDisc-L and ProDisc-C, the ApiFix, and the Mobi-C which all aim to improve range of motion, reduce pain, and improve patient satisfaction. Spine surgeons should remain vigilant regarding the current literature and technological advancements in spinal materials and procedures. The progression of spinal implant materials for cages, rods, screws and plates with advantages and disadvantages for each material will be discussed.

        Resource Nationalism in Indonesia: Ownership Structures and Sectoral Variation in Mining and Palm Oil

        During the global commodities boom Indonesia, like many resource-rich countries, introduced an increasing number of nationalist policy interventions. However, the state has intervened assertively in some sectors and only passively in others. In Indonesia’s mining sector, interventions that compel foreign divestment received widespread support from politicians and domestic industry; yet similar proposals to limit foreign investment in the strategic agribusiness sector have largely failed. This article brings the literature on resource nationalism into conversation with studies of business–state relations, in order to understand why nationalist mobilization met with more success in Indonesia’s mining sector than in agribusiness. It argues that ownership structures constitute the source of this variation. Uniquely integrated patterns of domestic and foreign ownership in the strategic palm oil sub-sector constrained lawmakers’ nationalist agenda. Such constraints were less formidable in Indonesia’s mining sector, where foreign capital is more easily differentiated, and concentrated in a sub-sector that contributes less overall to the Indonesian economy.

        In Motion: New Directions in Dance Technology and Performance

        This presentation considers new directions in dance and interactive digital media performance. It describes the central role of dance artists in the development and use of technologies in live performance. In contemporary performance today, dancers and choreographers are taking digital media and online collaborations in multiple directions. These projects range from performances that occur at multiple locations simultaneously via the Internet to motion capture technology and tele-immersive environments.

        Seasonal Variation in Catchability of Penaeid Prawns in the Night-time Prawn Fishery in Albatross Bay, Gulf of Carpentaria, Australia

        A correction index of catchability (CIC) was derived using a 6 year research data set to examine the seasonal variation in catchability for the night time prawn fishery in Albatross Bay. CIC reflects the composite effect of the monthly variation in size selectivity, emergence-burying behaviour and population density variation of prawn populations. The values of CIC for four dominant species, Metapenaeus endeavouri, M. ensis, Penaeus semisulcatus and P. esculentus, were examined. The value of CIC for M. endeavouri varied substantially and was the highest in August. The values of CIC for M. ensis were high during November to March and the seasonality was weaker than that for M. endeavouri. The monthly variation in CIC for P. semisulcatus reflected the seasonal variation in population density, being high during November to February. These results suggest that the catchability of P. esculentus is steady throughout the year but it varies greatly on a seasonal basis for M. endeavouri.

      • Risk Factors for 30- and 90-Day Readmission due to Intestinal Bowel Obstruction after Posterior Lumbar Fusion

        Study Design: A retrospective analysis of data from the Healthcare Cost and Utilization Project Nationwide Readmissions Database (HCUP-NRD). Purpose: To identify the perioperative characteristics associated with 30-day and 90-day readmission due to intestinal bowel obstructions (IBOs) following posterior lumbar fusion (PLF) procedure. Overview of Literature: PLF procedures are used to repair spinal injuries and curvature deformities. IBO is a common surgical complication and its repair often necessitates surgery that increases the readmission rates and healthcare costs. Previous studies have identified the preoperative risk factors for 30-day readmissions in PLF; however, no study has specifically investigated IBO or identified risk factors for 90-day readmissions. Methods: Data on demographic characteristics and medical comorbidities of patients who underwent PLF with subsequent readmission were obtained from the HCUP-NRD. The perioperative characteristics that were significantly different between patients readmitted with and without an active diagnosis of IBO were identified with bivariate analysis for both 30-day and 90-day readmissions. The significant characteristics were then included in a multivariate analysis to identify those that were independently associated with 30-day and 90-day readmissions. Results: Drug abuse (odds ratio [OR], 4.00), uncomplicated diabetes (OR, 2.06), having Medicare insurance (OR, 1.65), age 55–64 years (OR, 2.42), age 65–79 years (OR, 2.77), and age >80 years (OR, 3.87) were significant risk factors for 30-day readmission attributable to IBO after a PLF procedure. Conclusions: Of the several preoperative risk factors identified for readmission with IBO after PLF surgery, drug abuse had the strongest association and was likely to be the most clinically relevant factor. Physicians and care teams should understand the risks of opioid-based pain management regimens, attempt to manage pain with a multimodal approach, and minimize the opioid use.

        MBE Growth and Characterization of MgS-Rich Zinc-Blende ZnxMg1−xS1−ySey Alloys

        Samples containing ZnMgSSe alloy were grown by using molecular beam epitaxy at 240 ℃ and were analyzed by using X-ray interference. The alloy composition was found to be Zn0.20Mg0.80S0.64Se0.36. The surfaces of these layers were found to be extremely flat, unlike MgS layers of similar thickness grown under identical conditions, which show pronounced ridges. Structures with Zn0.20Mg0.80S0.64Se0.36 barriers were grown with ZnSe quantum wells and showed good quantum confinement with a sharp PL peak. Calculations of the phase stability of ZnMgSSe alloys suggest that an alloy of this composition should phase separate. However, samples with this composition are demonstrably single phase, and the discrepancy with the calculation can be removed if the enthalpy of formation of zinc-blende MgS is reduced by less than 2 % to −231 kJ mol−1.
