Efficient Cycloaddition Reaction of Carbon Dioxide with Epoxide by Rhodamine Based Catalyst Under 1 atm Pressure

        Qing Gong,Huadong Luo,Di Cao,Haibo Zhang,Wenjing Wang,Xiaohai Zhou 대한화학회 2012 Bulletin of the Korean Chemical Society Vol.33 No.6

Rhodamine B (RhB) and rhodamine 6G (Rh6G) were employed as catalysts for the synthesis of cyclic carbonate from carbon dioxide and epoxide. It turned out that the catalytic activity of Rh6G was nearly 29 times higher than that of RhB at 1 atm pressure, 90 oC. Furthermore, the catalytic efficiency of RhB and Rh6G was greatly enhanced with triethylamine as co-catalyst. Under the optimized conditions, the best isolated yield (93%) of cyclic carbonate was achieved without organic solvent and metal component.

Quercetin Enhances Cisplatin Sensitivity of Human Osteosarcoma Cells by Modulating microRNA-217-KRAS Axis

Zhang, Xian,Guo, Qinggong,Chen, Jingtao,Chen, Zhaohui Korean Society for Molecular and Cellular Biology 2015 Molecules and cells Vol.38 No.7

Quercetin can suppress osteosarcoma cell growth and metastasis. However, other effects of quercetin on osteosarcoma remain largely unknown. This research aims to evaluate the effects of quercetin in combination with cisplatin as treatment for osteosarcoma and investigate its regulatory mechanism. Cell viability and apoptosis in 143B cell line were determined after treatment with quercetin and/or cisplatin. RT-PCR and Western blot analysis were performed to determine the RNA or protein expression levels. Moreover, transwell assay was used to evaluate metastasis. Furthermore, rescue experiments were performed to investigate the potential regulatory mechanism of the treatment. Results showed that quercetin with concentration that was equal to or greater than $10{\mu}M$ inhibited 143B proliferation, while $5{\mu}M$ quercetin enhanced the cisplatin sensitivity of 143B cells. Expression of miR-217 was upregulated after quercetin and/or cisplatin treatment, while its target KRAS was downregulated both at mRNA and protein levels. MiR-217 knockdown led to the loss of enhanced cisplatin sensitivity while miR-217 overexpression showed the opposite effects, indicating that quercetin regulated cisplatin sensitivity by modulating the miR-217-KRAS axis. In conclusion, $5{\mu}M$ quercetin enhanced the cisplatin sensitivity by modulating the miR-217-KRAS axis. This finding suggests that quercetin may be administered with cisplatin to improve the treatment for osteosarcoma.

      • Doping palladium with tellurium for the highly selective electrocatalytic reduction of aqueous CO 2 to CO

        Tao, Hengcong,Sun, Xiaofu,Back, Seoin,Han, Zishan,Zhu, Qinggong,Robertson, Alex ,W.,Ma, Tao,Fan, Qun,Han, Buxing,Jung, Yousung,Sun, Zhenyu Royal Society of Chemistry 2018 Chemical Science Vol.9 No.2

<▼1><P>The doping of Pd with a small amount of Te can selectively convert CO2 to CO with a low overpotential.</P></▼1><▼2><P>Designing highly selective and energy-efficient electrocatalysts to minimize the competitive hydrogen evolution reaction in the electrochemical reduction of aqueous CO2 remains a challenge. In this study, we report that doping Pd with a small amount of Te could selectively convert CO2 to CO with a low overpotential. The PdTe/few-layer graphene (FLG) catalyst with a Pd/Te molar ratio of 1 : 0.05 displayed a maximum CO faradaic efficiency of about 90% at –0.8 V (<I>vs.</I> a reversible hydrogen electrode, RHE), CO partial current density of 4.4 mA cm–2, and CO formation turnover frequency of 0.14 s–1 at –1.0 V (<I>vs.</I> a RHE), which were 3.7-, 4.3-, and 10-fold higher than those of a Pd/FLG catalyst, respectively. Density functional calculations showed that Te adatoms preferentially bind at the terrace sites of Pd, thereby suppressing undesired hydrogen evolution, whereas CO2 adsorption and activation occurred on the high index sites of Pd to produce CO.</P></▼2>

Stimulating Effect of a Novel Synthesized Sulfonamido-Based Gallate ZXHA-TC on Primary Osteoblasts

        PAN JIN,Li Zheng,Liang Liao,Xiao Lin,Qinggong Guo,Cui-Wu Lin,Huayu Wu,Jinmin Zhao 연세대학교의과대학 2015 Yonsei medical journal Vol.56 No.3

Purpose: This study is intended to investigate the effects of plants or plant-derived antioxidants on prevention of osteoporosis through the maintenance of reactive oxygenspecies (ROS) at a favorable level. Materials and Methods: In this study, a novel antioxidant, namely 3,4,5-Trihydroxy-N-[4-(5-hydroxy-6-methoxy-pyrimidin-4-ylsulfamoyl)-phenyl]-benzamide (ZXHA-TC) was synthesized from gallic acid and sulfadimoxine. Its effect on osteoblast metabolism was investigated via the detection of cell proliferation, cell viability, production of ROS, and expression of osteogenic-specific genes including runt-related transcription factor 2 (RUNX2), bone sialoprotein (BSP), osteocalcin (OCN), alpha-1 type I collagen (COL1A1), and osteogenic-related proteins after treatment for 2, 4, and 6 days respectively. Results: The results showed that ZXHA-TC has a stimulating effect on the proliferation and osteogenic differentiation of primary osteoblasts by promoting cell proliferation, cell viability, and the expression of genes BSP and OCN. Productions of bone matrix and mineralization were also increased by ZXHA-TC treatment as a result of up-regulationof COL1A1 and alkaline phosphatase (ALP) at the early stage and down-regulationof both genes subsequently. A range of 6.25×10-3 μg/mL to 6.25×10-1 μg/mL is the recommended dose for ZXHA-TC, within which 6.25×10-2 μg/mL showed the best performance. Conclusion: This study may hold promise for the development of a novel agent for the treatment of osteoporosis.
