      • The relationship of Rockfall Scars Structure with Magnitude - Cumulative - Frequency

        Rockfalls are exist universally in mountain regions, steep cliffs and rock slopes with a high risk of personal safety and severely destructive of property or infrastructures. The rock mass instability and different magnitude rockfalls frequency are closely related to the rock mass structural geometry character. With the development of three - dimension rockfall modeling algorithms and tools during the last decade, we could see more about bedrock failure mechanisms and rockfall frequency under the control of rockfall scars geometry. Based the three-dimensional real scene model data of UAV point cloud, block size, volumetric joint count, joints spacing and average length of joints are carried out with statistical analysis. In this paper, we discuss cumulative frequency relation of the block size, volumetric joint count, and joints spacing, found that the block size and the volumetric joint count are follow power law distribution, with the exponent b adjusted in the range of 0.5~0.9 and 0.4~0.6, respectively. We establish the relationship of rockfall scars structure with rockfall frequency, assess its suitability. The relation can be used as a preliminary method to estimate the rockfall frequency.

        Content Analysis of Online Co-Design Community Interactions: A Case Study of Crowd-Sourced Threadless

        The purpose of this research is to understand the nature, size, and lifecycle of online co-design community interactions through a focused case study of a real business with an aim to provide actionable strategies for co-design service innovation and advancement, and help to forecast future trends in crowd-sourced co-design. Crowd-sourced, socially-empowered design environments not only reduce the cost of design sourcing and production, but also address individual user’s needs for experience sharing, entertainment, and relationship building in the virtual world. Although a great body of research has been established in both co-design (Hoftijzer, J., 2009; Piller, 2008; Relph-Knight, L., 2008; Piller et al., 2005, 2004; Ives, and Piccoli, 2003) and social network analysis (Mehler, and Skiena, 2009; Lin et al., 2009; Agichtein, and Liu, 2009; Ko et al., 2006; Wu, and Huberman 2004; Suh, and Kim, 2002; Park, and Choi, 2001), they often appear to be in two separate fields. Our study aims to better understand the nature of interactions in these unique design environments to better maximize the value of co-design communities. Threadless.com is a t-shirt co-design website that holds an ongoing competition for t-shirt artwork submissions. Anyone can create an account on the website and submit a design, as well as critique and vote on others’ designs. Threadless selects final winning designs from the highest rated designs and awards winners a cash prize. The winning designs are also produced and put up for sale on their website. Our study examines the Critiques Forum of Threadless, where users can upload multiple versions of their designs to be rated and commented on by other members within the community. The critiques of the submitted designs are a great arena for understanding co-design community interactions not only because the Critiques Forum is one of the most essential forums of Threadless, but also because they demonstrate the differences between interactions among co-designers on co-design websites and interactions among the general public on other social networking websites. A total of 367 submissions were included in this study over the period from September 29, 2009, to October 08, 2009. We conducted a content analysis of all the critiquing comments left by the Threadless co-design community on these submissions. From analyzing, sorting, and classifying the meaningful units of the comments, two large categories emerged: “design category” comments and “community category” comments. Subcategories in the “design category” comments included: color, shape/line, orientation/placement, text/slogan, general design ideas/concepts, add/remove attributes, production concerns, and prototype t-shirt color. Subcategories in the “community category” included: encouragement, discouragement, building ties, humor, and commercial. Other important aspects such as the community votes (“submit this,” “needs work,” or “don’t submit”), number of co-designers involved in commenting, number of design sub-categories the original user took advice in, lifecycle of submissions, and total number of comments for each submission were also recorded. The 367 submissions resulted in a total of 2,085 comments left by 1890 co-designers. On average, each submission had 1.75 versions of designs uploaded, 5.68 comments left by 5.15 co-designers, and a 30.28-day lifecycle. A content analysis of the 2,085 total comments showed that the number of community category comments slightly exceeded that of the design category, indicating that co-designers’ interactions are geared towards not only designing, but also building a friendly and supportive community.         Removal of Co(II) from aqueous solutions by sulfonated magnetic multi-walled carbon nanotubes

        Sulfonated magnetic multi-walled carbon nanotubes (SMMWCNTs) were applied in the sorption of Co(II) from aqueous solutions. The SMMWCNTs were prepared and characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), and X-ray diffractometer (XRD) test. A large number of influencing factors to the sorption process were investigated, such as pH, ionic strength, contact time, cations, anions, humic acid (HA), fulvic acid (FA) and temperature. The results indicated that the Co(II) sorption was strongly controlled by the pH and ionic strength. Moreover, foreign anions, such as F−, Cl− and Br−, had an obvious effect on the sorption process, which depended on the electronegativity of the anions. On the other hand, cations restrained sorption strongly, such as Mg2+ and Ca2+. The existence of HA/FA enhanced sorption process at pH<8 while weakened at pH>8. As revealed by the sorption results, the Langmuir adsorption model was more favorable than the Freundlich adsorption model, and the pseudo-second-order model could fit the data much better than the pseudo-first-order. The thermodynamic analysis suggested that sorption was spontaneous and endothermic. What’s more, the stability experiments of the SMMWCNTs showed that SMMWCNTs could maintain excellent magnetic stability and dispersion stability. Thus, this SMMWCNTs sorbent was believed to be a promising material for the selective removal of Co(II) from heavy metal-containing wastewater.

      • A Novel Neural Network Algorithm Optimized by PSO for Function Approximation

        A novel neural network algorithm optimized by particle swarm optimization (PSO) for function approximation is proposed in this paper. The prior information extracted from the upper and lower bound of the approximated function is coupled into PSO. Since the prior information narrows the search space and guides the movement direction of the particles, the convergence rate and the approximation accuracy are improved. Experimental results demonstrate that the new algorithm is more effective than traditional methods.

        Effect of Viscoelastic Deformation for CA Mortar on Mechanical Responses of Track Structures

        The viscoelastic deformation of cement emulsified asphalt mortar (CA mortar) can lead to gaps between the mortar and track slab, thereby adversely affecting the mechanical capability and deformation behavior of the track structures. According to the time hardening rate method, a solid model of the China Railway Track System I (CRTS-I) slab track was established to study the viscoelastic characteristics of mortar. What's more, this paper also analyzed the influence of viscoelastic deformation of mortar on the mechanical responses of track structures. The results obtained indicate that the viscoelastic deformation of CA mortar under train loading occurs mainly in the area from the track slab end to the third fastener, which is about 1.5 m long. Its viscoelastic deformation can reach nearly 0.6 mm. The maximum mortar stresses under passenger train and freight train loads with considering the viscoelastic deformation of mortar 0.6 mm, are 0.382 MPa and 0.566 MPa, respectively, which are both 2 to 3 times greater than those under normal conditions (without CA mortar failure, namely none vertical deformation of mortar). Besides, the vertical accelerations of rail and track slab are also significantly larger than those under normal conditions when the viscoelastic deformation of CA mortar is taken into account. And these values under the freight train load are greater than those under the passenger train load. Therefore, we suggest that future research should take the adverse impact of viscoelastic deformation of CA mortar into account when studying the mechanical responses of track structures. Furthermore, for the shared passenger and freight railway lines, the passage of freight trains should be strictly controlled.

        Analysis of environment influencing factors in China based on STIRPAT model

        Since the reformation and the opening-up policy in 1978, China has achieved a high economic growth for about 30 years. However, the problem of economic disparity in China has been worsened than ever before, and the environment inequality is beginning to be more noticeable. China faces the challenge this environmental inequality. In this paper, we first calculated the Green Contribution Coefficient in the 31 provinces in 2000 and 2014, and then clarified the fact that there existed regional environmental inequality in China. Based on the STIRPAT model, various factors affecting environmental in China from 2000 to 2014 were analyzed by the regression analysis, using the panel data on industrial air pollution published by each ministry. We examined the hypothesis that the increase in GDP, secondary industry ratio, the energy industry investment has a negative influence on Chinese environment. The environmental inequality is to be balanced by the progress of industrial structures in the various regions of China.

        교육 데이터마이닝를 활용한 E-learning 모델 개발 활성화 방안

        멀티미디어 교육과 비교할 때 E-learning은 새로운 교육 모드이며, 이의 출현은 인터넷 발전의 또다른 물결입니다. E-learning은 교육 자원, 교수 관리 및 교사 - 학생 교류를 위한 개발 공간을 개선할 것이다. E-learning의 개념은 끊임없이 새로운 의미를 부여 받고 있으며 E-learning 모델을 기반으로 한 다양한 교수 방법 또한 보조 교육 방법에서 주요 교수 모델로 바뀌고 있다. 본 연구의 목적은 대학생들이 지식의 전문성 신장과 비판적인 사고 능력을 유도하기 위해 E-learning학습 활동 모델 개발 활성화에 대한 방향을 모색하는 데 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 E-learning학습 활동에서 축적된 정보를 교육데이터마이닝을 사용하여 분석함으로써 학습자들의 학습 유형, 학습 진도, 학습 참여도 등의 예측이 가능하다. 이를 통해 효과적인 학습 모델을 구축하고 학습자 개개인의 특성에 맞는 맞춤형 교육을 제공하는 데 학습 분석의 다양한 활용에 대한 이해를 돕고자 한다. 이에 의하여 COLLA 시스템 학습자들의 학습활동빈도 산출을 위해 그룹활동지수(Group Activity Index) 기준으로 학습활동을 활발히 이어가고 있는 상위 3개 그룹, 학습활동이 활발하지 못한 하위 3개 그룹을 분류하여 분석하였다. 마지막으로 교육 데이터마이닝에 기반한 E-learning 모델 개발 활성화 방향을 제시하였다 Compared with multimedia teaching, E-learning is a brand-new teaching mode, and its emergence is another wave in the development of the Internet. E-Learning will enable better development space for teaching resources, teaching management, and teacher-student exchanges. The concept of E-learning is constantly being given new meaning, and various teaching methods based on the E-learning model are also changing from auxiliary teaching methods to major teaching models. The purpose of this study is to explore the direction of activation of e-learning activity model in order to induce college students to develop knowledge expertise and critical thinking ability. For this purpose, it is possible to predict the learners learning style, learning progress and learning participation by analyzing the accumulated information from the e-learning activities using educational data mining. This will help to build an effective learning model and to help students understand the various uses of learning analysis to provide customized education tailored to the characteristics of individual learners. In order to calculate the frequency of learning activities of COLLA system learners, the top three groups actively pursuing learning activities based on the Group Activity Index and the three subgroups in which learning activities were not active were classified and analyzed. Finally, the direction of e-learning model development based on educational data mining is suggested.

      • Engineering Bifunctional Antibodies with Constant Region Fusion Architectures

        <P>We report a method to generate bifunctional antibodies by grafting full-length proteins into constant region loops of a full-length antibody or an antigen-binding fragment (Fab). The fusion proteins retain the antigen binding activity of the parent antibody but have an additional activity associated with the protein insert. The engineered antibodies have excellent <I>in vitro</I> activity, physiochemical properties, and stability. Among these, a Her2 × CD3 bispecific antibody (BsAb) was constructed by inserting an anti-Her2 single-chain variable fragment (ScFv) into an anti-CD3 Fab. This bispecific antibody efficiently induces targeted cell lysis in the presence of effector cells at as low as sub-picomolar concentrations <I>in vitro</I>. Moreover, the Her2 × CD3 BsAb shows potent <I>in vivo</I> antitumor activity in mouse Her2<SUP>2+</SUP> and Her2<SUP>1+</SUP> xenograft models.         Longitudinal impact of caregiving grandchildren on the changes of depression in Chinese older adults

        본 연구의 목적은 노인의 우울증이 어떻게 변화하는지 밝히고, 손자녀를 돌보기가 우울증의 변화에 ​​미치는 영향을 분석하는 데 있다. 이를 위하여 China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS)의 2011년부터 2018년까지 7년 동안의 자료를 이용하였고, 총 4937명(2011)의 노인 대상자에 대한 분석을 실시하였다. 분석결과 다음과 같다. 첫째, 노인 우울은 시간이 지남에 따라 증가했다가 감소하였다. 둘째, 손자녀를 돌보는 빈도는 우울의 선형변화율(β=.249, p<.05)에 대한 긍정적인 예측하였고 비선형변화율(β=-.322, p<.05)에 대한 부정적인 예측하였다. 하지만 손자녀를 돌보는 강도는 우울의 선형변화율(β=-.268, p<.05)에 대한 부정적인 예측하였고 비선형변화율(β =.284, p<.05)에 대한 긍정적인 예측하였다. 마지막으로 본 연구의 결과에 대한 함의와 후속연구를 위한 제안을 하였다. This study aimed to evaluate how depression changes in older adults and analyze the impact of caregiving grandchildren on changes in depression. The samples of this study were Chinese elderly aged 55 and above (N = 4937 at the baseline) from four waves of the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS) (2011-2018). The results of the study are as follows. Firstly, depression in older adults is a nonlinear change that slowly decreases, then gradually increases over time. Second, the frequency of caring for grandchildren had a positive relationship with the linear rate of change (β=.249, p<.05) and a negative association with the nonlinear rate of change (β = -.322, p<.05) in depression. In contrast, the intensity of grandchild care had a negative relationship with linear changes (β=-.268, p<.05) in depression and a positive relationship with nonlinear rates (β=.284, p<.05) of change. The current study discusses the implications of these results.

      • Silica Nanoparticle-Enhanced Fluorescent Sensor Array for Heavy Metal Ions Detection in Colloid Solution

        <P>Sensitivity and detection limit are two vital factors that affect fluorophores-based sensing and imaging system. However, it remains a challenge to improve the sensitivity and detection limit of fluorophores, largely due to their limited response and photophysical properties. In this study, we report for the first time, a novel approach to enhance the sensitivity and detection limit of probes using silica nanoparticles, also known as silica nanoparticles-enhanced fluorescence (SiEF). SiEF can drastically improve the fluorescence intensities and detection limit of fluorophores. A SiEF-improved fluorescent sensor array for rapid and sensitive identification of different heavy metal ions is achieved, and a 3D spatial dispersion graph is obtained based on the SiEF-improved fluorescent sensor array, which provides a lower concentration dependent pattern than fluorophores alone, allowing qualitative, quantitative, and sensitive detection of heavy metal ions. Furthermore, with UV lamp irradiation of the sensor–metal ion mixtures, the output signals enable direct visual of heavy metal ions with low concentration.
