<P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>Hypertension causes cardiac hypertrophy and leads to heart failure. Apoptotic cells are common in hypertensive hearts. Ca2+/calmodulin‐dependent protein kinase II (CaMKII) is associated with apoptosis. We recently demonstrated that gallic acid reduces nitric oxide synthase inhibition‐induced hypertension. Gallic acid is a trihydroxybenzoic acid and has been shown to have beneficial effects, such as anti‐cancer, anti‐calcification and anti‐oxidant activity. The purpose of this study was to determine whether gallic acid regulates cardiac hypertrophy and apoptosis in essential hypertension. Gallic acid significantly lowered systolic and diastolic blood pressure in spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHRs). Wheat germ agglutinin (WGA) and H&E staining revealed that gallic acid reduced cardiac enlargement in SHRs. Gallic acid treatment decreased cardiac hypertrophy marker genes, including atrial natriuretic peptide (<I>ANP</I>) and brain natriuretic peptide (<I>BNP</I>), in SHRs. The four isoforms, α, β, δ and γ, of <I>CaMKII</I> were increased in SHRs and were significantly reduced by gallic acid administration. Gallic acid reduced cleaved caspase‐3 protein as well as <I>bax</I>,<I> p53</I> and <I>p300 </I>mRNA levels in SHRs. <I>CaMKII</I> δ overexpression induced <I>bax</I> and <I>p53</I> expression, which was attenuated by gallic acid treatment in H9c2 cells. Gallic acid treatment reduced DNA fragmentation and the TUNEL positive cells induced by angiotensin II. Taken together, gallic acid could be a novel therapeutic for the treatment of hypertension through suppression of CaMKII δ‐induced apoptosis.</P>

Symbolic value is more important than use value in the modern consumer society. The consumption phenomenon of symbolic value in China shows the great potential of symbolic value which influences China’s cultural industries. Take film, which is a genre depending on symbol, for example. The number of Chinese audiences exceeded that of North American audiences in 2016. China has a large consuming population, and will accelerate the development of cultural industries through its domestic demand. However, with the rapid economic growth, the Chinese worldview is changing, which will impact on its cultural contents and industries. The great potential of Chinese cultural industries has newly given rise to the need to understand the Chinese worldview in depth. Therefore, this study attempted to understand concretely the logic of modern transformation of Journey to the West, which is one of the representative works showing the traditional Chinese worldview. The worldview of a nation, as a manifestation of national collective unconscious, is a matter directly connected to the desire or the symbolic lack (phallus) of existence and becomes a psychoanalytic subject. Thus, this study discussed from a psychoanalytic viewpoint three films Journey to the West: Conquering the Demons, The Monkey king, The Monkey king 2, which are adaptations of the original novel Journey to the West but represent the present Chinese worldview. The study understood the modern transformation logic of Journey to the West narrative, and, in conclusion, the modern Chinese worldview.

<P>ROS1 has attracted much attention as a possible oncogenic driver and ROS1-rearranged tumors show sensitivity to most ALK inhibitors. We aimed to clarify the prevalence of ROS1 gene rearrangement and investigate the clinical implications of ROS1 gene copy number gain (CNG) in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients. We carried out fluorescent in situ hybridization with ROS1 and centromere enumeration 6 probes and immunohistochemistry for ROS1 protein expression. ROS1 rearrangement was detected in 3 of 375 samples (0.8 %); all of whom were female, never-smokers, and harbored an adenocarcinoma component. ROS1 gene CNG was found in 18 cases (4.8 %). ROS1 gene CNG was significantly associated with shorter disease-free survival (DFS, 12 vs. 58 months; p = 0.003) and shorter overall survival (OS, 40 vs. 67 months; p <0.001) than the group without CNG. Multivariate analysis confirmed that ROS1 gene CNG was significantly associated with poorer DFS (hazard ratio [HR]=2.16, 95 % confidence interval [CI] = 1.22-3.81, p = 0.008), and OS ([HR] = 2.53, 95 % [CI] = 1.31-4.89, p = 0.006). ROS1 protein overexpression was observed in 5.0 % (18 out of 357), of which 2 cases harbored ROS1 gene rearrangement. There was no statistically significant correlation between ROS1 gene CNG and protein overexpression. This study demonstrated ROS1 gene rearrangement was detected in 0.8 % of surgically resected NSCLC; and ROS1 gene CNG is an independent poor prognostic factor. This survival analyses may contribute to future studies on the utility of ROS1-targeted therapy for patients.</P>
Learning an Application of Superconductivity in Modern Mass Transportation
Ping, Jin,Hui, Liu,Li, Wan The Korean Society for Railway 2012 International Journal of Railway Vol.5 No.4
Applications of superconducting technology in transportation is more straightforward than others, such as magnetic levitation (maglev) trains. A maglev train is of high speed & low power-consumption, environmental friendly and safe, accompanied by some drawbacks. This article will introduce the application of superconducting technology in the urban mass transport system, and the bottleneck of this application.
Cooperative spectrum leasing using parallel communication of secondary users
( Ping Xie ),( Lihua Li ),( Junlong Zhu ),( Jin Jin ),( Yijing Liu ) 한국인터넷정보학회 2013 KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Syst Vol.7 No.8
In this paper, a multi-hop transmission protocol based on parallel communication of secondary users (SUs) is proposed. The primary multi-hop network coexists with a set of SUs by cooperative spectrum sharing. The main optimization target of our protocol is the overall performance of the secondary system with the guarantee of the primary outage performance. The energy consumption of the primary system is reduced by the cooperation of SUs. The aim of the primary source is to communicate with the primary destination via a number of primary relays. SUs may serve as extra decode-and-forward relays for the primary network. When an SU acts as a relay for a primary user (PU), some other SUs that satisfy the condition for parallel communication are selected to simultaneously access the primary spectrum for secondary transmissions. For the proposed protocol, two opportunistic routing strategies are proposed, and a search algorithm to select the SUs for parallel communication is described. The throughput of the SUs and the PU is illustrated. Numerical results demonstrate that the average throughput of the SUs is greatly improved, and the end-to-end throughput of the PU is slightly increased in the proposed protocol when there are more than seven SUs.

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are a family of non-coding RNA that are able to adjust the expression of many proteins, including ATPbinding cassette transporter and organic cation transporter. We sought to evaluate the effect of miR-511 on the regulation of OATP1B1 expression by free fatty acids. When using free fatty acids to stimulate Chang liver cells, we found that the expression of miR-511 increased significantly while the expression of OATP1B1 decreased. We also proved that SLCO1B1 is the target gene of miR-511 with a bioinformatics analysis and using the dual luciferase reporter assay. Furthermore, the expressions of SLCO1B1 and OATP1B1 decreased if transfecting Chang liver cells with miR-511, but did not increase when transfecting the inhibitors of miR-511 into steatosis cells. Our study indicates that miR-511 may play an important role in the regulation of OATP1B1 expression by free fatty acids.

This paper presents a general analytical method for predicting the magnetic fields of different Halbach magnet arrays with or without back iron mounted on slotless permanent magnet (PM) linear machines. By using Fourier decomposition, the magnetization components of four typical Halbach magnet arrays are determined. By applying special synthetic boundary conditions on the PM surfaces, the expressions of their magnetic field distributions are derived based on the magnetic scalar potential (MSP), which are simpler than those based on the magnetic vector potential (MVP). The correctness of the method is validated by finite element analysis. The harmonics of airgap flux density waveforms of these Halbach magnet arrays with or without back iron are also compared and optimized.
Valuation of Insurers' Contingent Capital with Counterparty Risk and Price Endogeneity
Jin-Ping Lee,Chien-Ling Lo,Min-Teh Yu 한국재무학회 2012 한국재무학회 학술대회 Vol.2012 No.09
This study develops a structural framework to value insurers' contingent capital with counterparty risk (CR) and overcomes the problem of price endogeneity (PE) in the valuation model. Our results on the focal contingent capital instrument - catastro- phe equity put option (CatEPut) - indicate that prices can easily be overestimated by 110 basis points without considering CR and be underestimated by 17{34 basis points without considering PE. This study also examines how CatEPuts aect the buyer's probability of default (PD). Our results show that buying CatEPut lowers the buyer's PD; however, if we ignore the new equity eect due to share issuance, the result is not true in some scenarios. Without taking CR and PE into account, one may signicantly overestimate the credit enhancement provided by the CatEPuts.
