        Influence of Heat-Treatment on the Adhesive Strength between a Micro-Sized Bonded Component and a Silicon Substrate under Bend and Shear Loading Conditions

        Adhesive bend and shear tests of micro-sized bonded component have been performed to clarify the relationship between effects of heat-treatment on the adhesive strength and the bonded specimen shape using Weibull analysis. Multiple micro-sized SU-8 columns with four different diameters were fabricated on a Si substrate under the same fabrication condition. Heat-treatment can improve both of the adhesive bend and shear strength. The improvement rate of the adhesive shear strength is much larger than that of the adhesive bend strength, because the residual stress, which must change by heat-treatment, should effect more strongly on the shear loading. In case of bend type test, the adhesive bend strength in the smaller diameters (50 and $75\;{\mu}m$) widely vary, because the critical size of the natural defect (micro-crack) should vary more widely in the smaller diameters. In contrast, in case of shear type test, the adhesive shear strengths in each diameter of the columns little vary. This suggests that the size of the natural defects may not strongly influence on the adhesive shear strength. All the result suggests that both of the adhesive bend and shear strengths should be complicatedly affected by heat-treatment and the bonded columnar diameter.

        Authoritarian survival strategies and elite churn: The case of North Korea

        How do autocrats interact with authoritarian elites? This is a question that has gained increasing scholarly attention over the past decade. In this article, using the case of North Korea we develop a set of theoretical expectations for “elite churn” or changes in the composition of the elite (either in terms of promotions, demotions, or new entrants) resulting from moving around elites from office to office (or “elite shuffle”) and bringing in new elites. We test a number of theoretical expectations derived from the existing literature on elite management in autocracies and then examine these expectations using a panel data set of 351 members of the North Korean elite from 1948–2017. Taking into account leadership characteristics, threats to the regime (both internal and external), external opportunities, and structural factors, we find that the explanation for elite churn in North Korea is very leader specific, and is much more pronounced under Kim Jong Un than his predecessors. This suggests that Kim Jong Un’s position was much more tenuous than his father’s and grandfather’s and likely continues to be so.

        The largest advantage of magnetic micromachine is wireless operation. This advantage makes it suitable for medical micromachine working inside the human body. In the medical field, low invasion treatment is very important. From this point of view, very small machines working in the body without power supply cables meet the needs of the medical field. In this paper, we report about magnetic wireless actuators for medical applications.

        종조사 및 간투조사 "さ"에 관한 일고찰

        본 연구는 종조사 및 간투조사 ‘さ’에 관해서 드라마 용례를 통해서 그 사용자의 특징을 고찰한 것이다. 종조사와 간투조사 ‘さ’는 사용하는 상황이 다른 것이며 종조사 ‘さ’도 접속에 따라서 다른 위상적 측면을 지니게 되는 것이다. 그러나 선행연구에서는 그 구별이 명확하게 밝혀지지 않는 경우가 많았다. 본 연구는 종조사 ‘さ’와 간투조사 ‘さ’의 용례를 분석함으로써 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 종조사 ‘さ’는 주로 남성이 사용하는 것이지만 픽션 세계에서 종조사 ‘さ’를 사용하는 인물의 특징으로서는 상대경어법이 없는 발화에서도 ‘僕’를 사용하는 인물이 많으며, 특히 엘리트 역할을 맡은 조연들의 사용이 돋보였다. 한편 간투조사 ‘さ’는 양성이 자주 쓰는 것이며, 성별이라는 관점에서 보았을 때는 위상 차이는 인정되지 않았다. 매우 남성적, 혹은 매우 여성적인 표현을 사용하는 인물은 간투조사 ‘さ’를 덜 쓰는 경향이 있고 축약형을 사용하는 화자는 간투조사 ‘さ’도 사용하는 경향이 관찰되었다. 간투조사 ‘さ’와 함께 쓰이는 경향이 있는 표현은 ‘じゃん’, ‘え.’, ‘ちゃう’, ‘でしょ’, ‘っす’이며, 이들은 ‘でしょ’를 제외하고 허물없는 표현이고 이러한 표현들과 함께 쓰이는 경향이 있는 것으로도 간투조사 ‘さ’가 인포멀한 표현이라는 것을 알 수 있다. 또 간투조사‘さ’를 사용하는 인물의 일인칭에 관해서는 여성은 특별한 특징이 관찰되지 않았으나 남성은 ‘俺’를 사용하는 인물이 압도적으로 많았다. 이상과 같이 종조사 ‘さ’와 간투조사 ‘さ’가 전혀 다른 위상적 측면을 지닌것이 밝혀졌다. This study is about “sa” as the sentence ending particles and the interjectory particles used in Japanese dramas. Although the sentence ending particles and the interjectory particles are obviously different, former studies were not conscious enough about that. Analyzing the usage of “sa” in dramas, this study reached following conclusion. “Sa” as the sentence ending particles are expression used mainly by men. When they are used in dramas, they are characterized by men who use “boku” as the first person. Especially well educated supporting roles are remarkable user. On the other hand, “sa” as the interjectory particles are used by both gender. But extremely masculine expressions or extremely feminine expressions tend not to appear with “sa” as the interjectory particles. The users of contracted form tend to use these “sa”. these “sa” tend to appear with “jan”, “e:”, “chau”, “desho”, and “ssu”. These expressions are informal ones. So this fact indicates “sa” as the interjectory particles are also informal expressions. Almost all of the users of “sa” as the interjectory particles use “ore” as the first person.

      • Frequency Analysis of intracellular signal transduction systems

        In this paper, we propose two analysis methods for a complicated and huge biological system. As a practical biological system, we employ a newly published signal transduction system with transcriptional control. For such a system, only few analysis tools such as parameter sensitivity analysis are available. First, we extend the concept of Bode diagram, including the effect of changes of both amplitude are frequency of input signal on output response. Next, we introduce the calculation of the L2-induced gain. Although it is difficult to find the nominal gain theoretically, we show that the distribution of the gain over various amplitudes and frequencies of input signal provides us some useful information in a biological system.
