SERO-EPIDEMIOLOGICAL STUDY OF BRUCELLOSIS AMONG GOATS AND SHEEP AT PESHAWAR DISTRICT

Sero-epidemiological study was carried out to observe the prevalence of brucellosis in 500 slaughtered as well as in 500 healthy animals in Peshawar district of N.W.F.P. All serum samples were subjected to four serological tests i.e. Standard Plate Test (SPT), Standard Tube Test (STT), Rivanol Test (RV) and 2, Mercapto-Ethanol Test (2, ME). The incidence of disease in 500 healthy animals tested by standard plate test, standard tube test, rivanol test and 2, Mercapto-ethanol test, was 2.8%, 1.8%, 1.6% and 1.2% respectively. While the incidence of brucellosis in 500 slaughter animals from Peshawar abattoir was 3.0%, 2.2%, 2.00% and 1.2% by standard plate test, standard tube test, rivanol test and 2, Mercapto-ethanol test The disease prevalence was higher in slaughtered animals as compared to healthy animals. The disease was more common in goats than sheep, also more prevalence in aged female than younger stocks. The efficacy of SPT was found more effective as compared to STT, RV, and 2, ME tests both in slaughtered as well as apparently healthy animals at Peshawar district. Standard Plate test detected 2.9%, Standard Tube test 2.0%, Rivanol test 1.8% and 2, Mercapto-ethanol test detected 1.2% positive cases in slaughtered as well as in healthy animals. So the Standard Plate Test was found to be more reliable, sensitive, and easy to performed.

This paper presents the mechanical performance of Concrete Filled Double Skin Steel Tube (CFDST) columns stiffened by Welded Reinforcing Bars (WRBs) under axial compression. A series of experiments were carried out on sixteen CFDST columns using two different D/t ratios and different patterns of WRBs as parameters. The steel reinforcing bars were welded either on the external surface of the inner tubes or on the internal surface of the outer tubes. Various patterns were used to enable a better understanding of the stiffened CFDST columns performance. Moreover, the compressive loading vs. end shortening curves, failure modes, strength index and concrete-steel contribution ratio were analysed. The results showed that a certain pattern of the WRBs affords additional ductility and strength capacity of the stiffened CFDST columns. Furthermore, WRBs play an important role in the mitigating failure modes and work consistently with the shell concrete of these columns. Design methods were developed for the calculation of the strength capacity of stiffened CFDST columns and assessed against the experimental results to trace the suitable formulation for design purposes. The outcomes of modified analytical procedures mostly match well with the experimental results of the stiffened CFDST columns.

The outbreak of the financial crisis, the lack of corporate governance practices in Iraqi companies, the high level of earnings management (EM), and weak firm performance (FP) have all encouraged the purpose of this study. This study proposes to achieve the following objectives: (I) to investigate the influence of governance mechanisms on the earnings management practices, (II) to investigate the consequence of EM on FP. The study sample includes 65 Iraqi firms listed on the Iraqi stock exchange for six years from 2012 to 2018, with 390 firm-year observations. The hypotheses were tested using panel data regression. According to the findings, Iraqi companies prefer to use real EM rather than accruals EM to avoid reporting losses. Discretionary cash flow, production costs, and cash flow from operation are examples of actual operations employed to undertake EM. Furthermore, according to the findings of this study, board meeting frequency and female onboard have a significant and negative influence on EM. Besides, the internal audit function was found not to affect EM. On the other hand, results revealed a significant and negative relationship between EM and FP. According to the study, management prefers to minimize cash and accrual expenditure during the economic downturn.

The Hadamard product is employed in this study to describe a new class of analytic functions that include linear operator. Some of the properties related to this new class are also investigated. In the second result of this paper, applications on hypergeometric functions that employ the popular hypergeometric functions with the operator are included as well as achievement of some new results.

Design of disposable DNA biosensor microchip with amperometric detection featuring PCB substrate

Electrochemical detection (ECD) is one of the best means for designing a Lab-on-a-chip system especially for electroactive analyte’s separation and detection applications like biomedical and in vitro diagnostic. Producing disposable biosensors is the key element in the recent research. Nevertheless, cost of the fabrication is the main obstacle against producing affordable and disposable microchips. In this paper, a workable DNA separation and detection microchip based on printed circuit board (PCB) substrates is presented. The new design will help producing lowcost Lab-on-a-chip devices for DNA or other electroactive diagnostic purposes. Experiments performed using standard DNA ladder produced results which are comparable with the conventional gel electrophoresis. With sensitivity consistently higher than 100 nA and separation time of approximately 30 min, this new design is an ideal tool for real DNA analysis.
The Effect of Chairman Tenure on Governance and Earnings Management: A Case Study in Iraq

The study's purpose is to assess how board chairman tenure (BCT) contributes to limiting the earnings management practices (EM) in Iraqi banks. We compare the direct influence of the corporate governance mechanisms (CG) on EM practices and use BCT as a moderator that affects the influence of CG on EM. The sample of the study is the financial' firms listed on the Iraqi Stock Exchange for the period 2013-2018. Using purposive sampling data was collected from annual reports and data stream. We use the random effect model in panel data regression by using Stata to analyze the data. Findings proved that CG mechanisms insignificantly influence EM, except the meeting frequency was significant. By contrast, BCT had a positive and considerable influence as the moderating variable between CG and EM. These results suggested that the Chairman's tenure on the board lead to enhanced governance mechanisms to limit the EM practice in Iraqi financial firms. Accordingly, this study is one of the few studies in the Iraq environment that examine the influence of CG mechanisms on EM practices, in addition to examining the BCT as a moderator between CG and EM, thus, filling the gap in such studies in developing countries.

The Magnetic nanoporous material Fe/MCM-41 was prepared, and its physical characterization studied, to determine the effect of its properties on separation efficiency of methyl orange (MO) from wastewater by adsorption process. The experimental results were analyzed for both adsorbent mesoporous material samples, MCM-41 and magnetic Fe/MCM-41, in order to select the best operating conditions for the different studied parameters, which are: constant temperature (20 oC), pH: (2) adsorbent dosage (0.03 gm), contact time (10minute) and concentrations (30mg/L). The results demonstrate that the adsorption processes can be well fitted by the Langmuir isotherm model for pure MCM-41, with a correlation coefficient of (0.999), and fitted by the Freundlich isotherm model for magnetic Fe/ MCM-41, with a correlation coefficient of (0.994). The adsorption kinetics of MO on to MCM-41 and Fe/MCM-41 are well described by a pseudo-second-order kinetic model.
