In this study, corneal power and eye refraction error were studied on myopic of unaccommodated koreans. The mean of refraction error power is -2.39D(male : -2.75D, female : -2.02D). The mean of corneal refraction error power is +43.90D(malce : +44.07D, female : +43.71D). It is +o.90D higher than that of the model eye by Gullstrand(about + 43.00D).

Once refractive error of the eye was fully corrected. Polarization Test was used to investigate binocular vision function. As the results of phoria measurement of Korean adults for 53males and 59 females, orthophoria in 27.68%, esophoria in 12.50%, exophoria in 48.21%, vertical phoria in 3.75%, esophoria(+verical phoria) in 2.68%, and exphoria(+verical phoria) in 5.36%, respectively. Horizontal phoria is below 3△ mostly and vertical phoria is below △.

Among the 110 glasses wearers, the hypetopic glasses wearers were 18(16.36%) persons and myopic glasses wearers were 92(83.64%) persons. The distance for optical centers was coincided to the pupillary distance in 9(8.18%) persons and discrepant in 101(91.82%) persons. Ophthalmic dispensing Papillary Distance resulted from testing by the trouble error range(Germany RAL-915), unadopt spectacles had been wearers 52(51.49%) pets. The 65(64.s6~) persons and 36(35.64%) persons showed the induced esophoria and the induced exophria, respectively. The maximal induced esophoria was 3.69 prism diopters and maximal induced exophoria was 3.68 prism diopters.

Methyl fructoside acrylate and methacrylate were synthesized by lipase - catalyzed glycosylation of acrylic acid, methacrylic acid and vinyl methacrylate with - methyl fructoside in t - butanol as a reaction medium. From the optimum conditions of enzymatic synthesis for acrylate and methacrylate, we obtained 78% conversion for methyl fructoside acrylate and 93% conversion for methyl fructoside methacrylate. The polymerizable sugar acrylates have potential application as biomedical polymer such as hodrogel contact lens.

Hydrogenated amorphous carbon films were fabricated by low frequency(60Hz) Plasma enhanced Chemical vapor deposition(LF-PECVD) at room temperature. The LF_PECVD has a couple of advantages as follows: cheap, and the employment of low power density makes the damage of samples small. The a-C:H films deposited in this work were highly transparent(99%), highly resistance(109-1011ℓ-cm), and very uniform. The samples were deposited by the decomposition of CH4 and H2 mixing gas in the pressure rate range of 1% to 30%. The deposition rates, optical gap, and hydrogen contents are increased with CH4 contents.

In this study, total astigmatism and corneal astigmatism were studied 328 eyes of healthy Korean for astigmatism. Total astigmatism was measured by fogging-and-dial technique, and corneal astigmatism was measured with Topcon OM-4 keratometer. Residual astigmatism was determined by a discrepancy between total and corneal astigmatism. The results were as follows: As they aged, there were a statistically significant changes in total and corneal astigmatism but not in residual astigmatism. And the amount of with-the-rule total and corneal astigmatism had a tendency to decrease, but residual astigmatism had no changes. From 30 years, total astigmatism showed a tendency to become against the rule. The average diopteric value was +0.342D in total astigmatism. +0.920D in corneal astigmatism and -0.579D in residual astigmatism.
