In order to observe the effect of ginseng extract on the vatues of serum electrolytes such as total calcium, ion calcium, total magnesium. ion magnesium and phosphate in anesthetized rabbits, the rabbits were intraperitoneally injected with the ginseng extracts at the daily dose of 25mg for 10days before anesthethized with ethyl alcohol-ether-chloroform at the rate of 1 : 3 : 2. 1.After anesthethia, the serum total and ion calcium of rabbits treated with ginseng extracts were moderately decreased and were rapidly recovered to normal state than those of control rabbits. 2. The serum total, and ion magnesium and the serum phosphate of the rabbits treated with ginseng extract. after anesthetization, sholwed a tendency of inverse correlation to the total calcium and ion as calcium well as in the non-ginseng-extract-inject group.

The study was performed to compare the germicidal power of various disininfectants to the bacteria isolated from the imported hides in leathering factory, and also was examined the disinfection process in quarantine enforcement place. The results were as follows. 1. Eleven species of bacteria isolated from the 120 samples were Clostridium historicum, Clostridium tetami, Clostridium pyogenes, Clostridium sp., Bacillvs sp., Pasteurella sp., Proteus vulgalis, Staphylococcus sp. and Micrococcus sp. 2. Comparing the germicidal effect of 1%, 3% and 5% saponated cresol solution, and 1%, 3% and 5% phenol solution to the bacteria isolated from hides, the effect of the only 5% phenol solution was represented strongly. 3. It is more available for disinfecting the hides in soaking process than in packing.

A total of 364 quarter milk samples of 91 dairy cattle from 4 area around Jeonju in Jeonbug area were examined for infection rate and causative abets of mastitis by the Laboratory Procedures used in the Connecticut Mastitis-Control Program. The results obtained were as follows: 1. One hundred and thirty quarters (35.7%) from 67 cows (73.6%) were found to be infected with mastitis. It was found that 5 (1.37%) of the infected quarters were clinical mastitis and all of the rest were subclinical mastitis (125 quarters). 2. The main causative agents were found to be Staphylococcus aureus (46 quarters), Streptococcus agalactiae (49 quarters), streptococcus disgalactiae (18 quarters), Steptococcus uberis (13 quarters). Corynebacteria, Coliform organisms, Pseudomonas were also occasionally found to be causative organisms. 3. Having examined the number of infection Quarter per head of mastitis dairy cattle samplings, major findings were that the average number of infection quarter to total dairy cattle examined was 1.4 quarters, and that average number of infection quarter to the infected cattle was 1.9 quarters.
