        Embedded System Assurance in Security Level 1st

        Because embedded software is a core component controlling systems, the codes or control flows should be protected from being opened to the public or modified maliciously. Embedded software security can be divided into 2 parts: first is the unauthorized access to development site and embedded software, second is the unauthorized disclosure or modification. And this research is related to the second aspect of them. As though embedded systems have become more useful and powerful, unfortunately, the researches for the embedded systems are focused on the ‘performance’ or ‘efficiency’. It is critical to note that a weakness (or security hole) in any component of embedded system may comprise whole system. This paper proposes a method for securing the embedded systems by evaluating security functions of embedded system component. This paper proposes embedded system security evaluation and certification for achieving some level of assurance.

        SICE Trans-Division Technology Committee on Embedded Systems (TDTC ES) has been chartered which is trying to identify the issues for post embedded systems era and to explore approaches solving these issues. The issues range from technical challenges to institutional innovations. This paper presents current TDTC ES activities as well as its background ideas. The basic belief is that systems control technology is the key factor for present and future embedded systems.

        The Fundamental Functionality Design of a Smart Farm Using an Embedded Computing Platform

        본 논문에서는 2개의 범용 임베디드 컴퓨팅 플랫폼을 사용하여 사용자의 요구사항을 용이하게 적용하고 시장 적기성과 시스템의 유연성을 높이기 위한 목적으로 스마트 팜에 요구되는 기본적인 기능을 설계하였다. 2개의 임베디드 컴퓨팅 플랫폼을 사용한 스마트 팜 시스템은 주(master)-종(slave) 관계로 동작되는 구조이다. 주 임베디드 컴퓨팅 플랫폼은 ALTERA의 DE10-Nano(ARM Cortex-A9 프로세서 사용)을 사용하였으며, 종 임베디드 컴퓨팅 플랫폼은 STM32F407G-DISC1(ARM Cortex-M4) 임베디드 컴퓨팅 플랫폼을 사용하였다. 종 임베디드 컴퓨팅 플랫폼은 스마트 팜의 센서 및 모터 제어 등의 기본기능을 컨트롤하고 주임베디드 컴퓨팅 플랫폼과 통신기능을 수행한다. 본 논문에서 설계한 시스템은 스마트 팜 뿐만 아니라 특정한 응용분야에 적용할 경우 시스템의 시장 적기성, 시스템의 유연성 및 확장성을 가져올 수 있다. 향후 연구내용은 설계한 시스템에서 OpenCL 환경에서 전체 시스템의 성능 및 처리 속도를 향상할 수 있도록 DE10-Nano의 ARM Cortex-A9 프로세서와 FPGA 영역에서 3개의 32비트 RISC FPGA 소프트 코어 NiosII 프로세서를 사용하여 다중프로세서 시스템으로 설계하는 것이다. In this paper, we designed the fundamental functions required for smart farms for the purpose of applying user"s requirements easily using two general-purpose embedded computing platforms, and improving time-to-market and system flexibility. The smart farm system using two embedded computing platforms is designed as a system structure that operates in master-slave relationship. The master embedded computing platform used was ALTERA"s DE10-Nano using the ARM Cortex-A9 and the slave embedded computing platform used the STM32F407G-DISC1 (using the ARM Cortex-M4) embedded computing platform. The slave embedded computing platform controls fundamental functionalities such as sensor and motor control in smart farm and communicates with the master embedded computing platform. Therefore, the system designed in this paper can bring about marketability, system flexibility, and scalability of the system when applied not only to smart farm but also to specific application fields. Future work will be to improve the performance and processing speed of the entire system in the OpenCL (Open Computing Language) environment to apply the big data required in the intelligent farm system in the designed system. The ARM Cortex-A9 processor of the DE10-Nano will be used as the master processor, and the FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) area will be designed as a multiprocessor system using three 32bit RISC (Reduced Instruction Set Computer) FPGA soft core NiosII processors.

      • SoC(System on Chip) 기반의 임베디드 실험 키트 및 응응 프로그램의 개발

        In this thesis, and embedded system is developed. The developed embedded system is a embedded experim with A7S SoC device integrated ARM7TDMI microprocessor with FPGA. An embedded linux is ported on the embedded system Based on the embedded system ported embedded OS, I study a practical application skill using SoC. Some interfaces for controlling some peripheral devices using SoC are implemented in developed embedded system. A digital logic is also implemented in SoC. It is proved that the embedded system using SoC gets a convenience of system design and some advantages of performance compared with the embedded system using microprocessor as a result.

        DEVS 형식론과 SES 프레임워크를 활용한 NXT 기반 임베디드 시스템 알고리즘에 대한 비교 연구

        Embedded system is a large part in modern society. Most people, however, do not know about embedded systems. The need for training related to embedded systems is increasing because embedded system technology is a core technology of the country these days. In this paper, we understand embedded systems easily using LEGO Mindstorms NXT that is used in the actual embedded system education. In addition, we perform the simulation based on DEVS formalism and SES framework as a part of the knowledge related with embedded systems. Measuring the time and probability for completing the track by several algorithms of line tracer, we determine the speed and accuracy of the algorithms. We adopt the best algorithm through the simulation results, and we make line tracer with the algorithm.

        임베디드 시스템을 이용한 인터넷 제어감시 시스템에 관한연구

        Recently embedded systems are widely used in various industrial fields as supervisory controller because they have many merits. One of merits seems to be that operating environment of embedded system is the same as development environment using PC. That makes developing and manufacturing period shorten and also proper time to market. Most of all machinery have sequential control system for their maneuvering which is composed of relays, contacts, timers, etc.In this paper, software sequential control system is proposed to be able to replace hardware sequential control system by using embedded system. A lot of merits by the software sequential control system can be expected in the respect of economic reproduction, intelligent technologies and utilities. And porting of LINUX operating system to embedded system is carried out and device drivers and interface boards for LINUX OS are designed for controlling air compressor by software. Internet remote control and monitoring system of air compressor is implemented with Java script and CGI for these purposes. The experiment for operating air compressor system is taken through internet networks. The results show that developed system can be used for real plant.

        이종 복합 임베디드 시스템의 상호운용성 검증을 위한 모델링 및 시뮬레이션 기반 시험환경 설계 및 구현

        Embedded System is used widely in industrial machines, home appliances and military weapon systems. According to the development of wire and wireless telecommunication network, embedded system uses the information which is provided by the other system to perform missions. So it is very important element to achieve interoperability among heterogeneous composite embedded systems especially in the weapon, finance, administration and factory automation information systems. But it is not have studied to certify interoperability among heterogeneous composite embedded system efficiently. In this paper, we propose interoperability test environment which is composed of MDA(Model Driven Architecture) based development tool and test simulators. Because we can use MDA based development tool and interoperability test simulators at the design phase of embedded system development, it is possible to certify interoperability among heterogeneous embedded system at the design phase prior to the operation phase of embedded system.

      • Research on Embedded Network Real-Time Video Monitoring System Based on Zynq

        With the improvement of the performance of the embedded processor, the real-time network video monitoring system based on embedded technology becomes a developing direction of the network video with its low price and portability. In this paper, software and hardware co-design method is adopted to design an embedded system. ARM of the Zynq chip is responsible for embedded system structures and high definition video processing, and FPGA is used to design other logic and hardware expansion. Compared with the traditional network video monitoring technology, the embedded network video monitoring technology based on Zynq not only improves the quality of the image, but also has better real-time performance and scalability.

        In this paper, we derive implications of the management over embedded software in weapon systems of ROK in terms of Total Life Cycle System Management (TLCSM). The role of embedded software which is installed in weapon systems is more important as we develop more complicated and accurate weapon systems. We have not concentrated on the management over embedded software when we develop and operate weapon systems, but it is time to focus on that more actively. At first, we need to establish infrastructure for software management and also it should be regulated by act or other things. At the planning phase of weapon systems, we need to document requirements and integrated logistics support for the embedded software and then budget plan for the total life cycle of the embedded software should be included. At the acquisition phase, we need to develop technical data of the embedded software, and then reviewing, evaluating processes are checked. Also continuous product improvement program should be executed to sustain the embedded software during its operating phase.

        체감형 운동 기기를 위한 개인화된 임베디드 시스템의 개발

        In this paper, we propose an interactive embedded system framework for efficient training management in u-health environment. First, we analyzed various requirements of smart training systems for quality of life. We also analyzed the oversea trends and positive effects of the embedded system in terms of both technical and economical factors. Second, we proposed detailed design specification for embedded hardware implementation. Third, we developed effective OS(Operating System) specification for the embedded hardware. Finally, we developed a training scenario and embedded applications such as training control software and analysis software for the smart training systems.
