군부대의 청력보존프로그램에 관한 고찰: 미군을 중심으로

        나원도,한우재 한국청각언어재활학회 2016 Audiology and Speech Research Vol.12 No.1

Purpose: It is acknowledged that impact of noise in the military should be considered due to exposure to the high intensity levels which occur noise-induced hearing loss and tinnitus. Paradoxically, healthy hearing is a vital role in the performance of a soldier and is important for speech communication during the combat. Methods: This review paper introduces the current US army hearing program including techniques and procedures that govern the prevention of the noise-induced hearing loss in the soldiers and ensure their maximum combat effectiveness. Results: It generally consists of four elements, namely hearing readiness, clinical hearing service, operational hearing service, and hearing conservation. First of all, hearing readiness is to measure the soldier’s hearing threshold as a baseline and classify him into appropriate job position. Clinical hearing service is to diagnose a degree of hearing loss and then decide its temporal or permanent loss with detailed clinical measurements. In the operational hearing service, noise abatement strategies and ideal noise levels for engineering controls are included. Hearing conservation is related to identification of hazardous noise and effective use of hearing protector. Conclusion: Like the US army hearing program, we need to serve the hearing conservation program with technical and administrative guidance for preventing the noise-induced hearing loss of young soldiers, in advance, in Korea.

        황준호,신은영,김진숙 한국청각언어재활학회 2013 Audiology and Speech Research Vol.9 No.2

This study was aimed to promote social welfare and health services of the elderly people through understanding their hearing status and investigating the needs for geriatric welfare program for the hearing impaired. The study was conducted using a structured questionnaire answered by 118 senior participants who were older than 60 and attending at the selected five welfare centers located in Seoul, Gyung-gi and Gang-won provinces. As a result, first, 55.1% answered that their physical condition is not satisfied and 89% reported they have one or more diseases. Out of those, 18.8% were suffering from hearing disorders, which is listed in the second most common disease following arthritis from which 19.2% were suffering. Second, due to hearing loss, 48.3% have experienced difficulties in daily life and 42.4% seeking professional help. The most difficult condition for them was to hear soft speeches and the most desirable service for help was hearing aid. Third, when the needs for rehabilitation services are subdivided, the most desirable rehabilitation service was physical therapy (56.8%) and aural rehabilitation service was followed (34.8%). Besides, 82.2% were interested in evaluating their hearing ability regularly at welfare center. Fourth, the majority of geriatric welfare center users strongly showed their needs for hearing aid services, aural rehabilitation services after hearing aids fitting, aural rehabilitation services, instruction for hearing conservation, and hearing conservation program. As stated below, the results can be concluded. Instruction of the hearing conservation for seniors who suffer from hearing loss should be activated. Moreover, social welfare services such as aural rehabilitation programs should be systematized to build various ability to cope with hearing loss because increase of the geriatric population will increase the elderly hearing impaired in the future.

        박성일,김국화,김단비,김지연,한지은 한국청각언어재활학회 2016 Audiology and Speech Research Vol.12 No.4

Purpose: This study was performed to establish the effective hearing conservation program for noisy industries. Methods: A total of 100 employees who were working in noisy environments participated. Subjects were divided into four groups according to the size of firms and the periods of noise exposure. A 12-question survey related to factors of the hearing conservation program was designed and assessed. Results: Results showed that all participants perceived the importance of hearing conservation. There were significant differences among four groups in the awareness level of the importance of hearing protection. Employees who were working at a big firm and had more than ten years of noise exposure experiences were more aware of factors related to hearing protection than others. Conclusion: Awareness of the hearing protection of hearing protection needs to be the most important factor in establishing and operating hearing conservation program. Further research should be considered in light of the outcome of this study.

조선소 현장 관리자의 청력손실, 청력보호, 청력보존 프로그램에 대한 이해에 관한 조사 연구

        윤철민,방정화 한국청각언어재활학회 2019 Audiology and Speech Research Vol.15 No.2

Purpose: Occupational noise-induced hearing loss (ONIHL) is the most common occupational disability. To decrease the number of ONIHL, more accurate information on worker noise exposure is necessary to protect workers from job-related noise in the workplace. Thus, the present study aimed to analyze the current knowledge on hearing loss, the attitudes toward hearing protection, and more specifically, shipyard managers knowledge of hearing conservation programs. Methods: A 23-item questionnaire was designed to target shipyard field managers. The survey included questions about their knowledge of the causes and symptoms of hearing loss and the attitudes toward hearing protection and hearing conservation programs. A total of 115 shipyard field managers responded to the questionnaire. Results: The current results demonstrated that most of the respondents did not have enough knowledge of the causes and symptoms of hearing loss. However, they were more aware of the need to have good ear protection. Only 6% of the respondents knew about the hearing preservation program. Conclusion: If reducing ONIHL effectively, a hearing conservation program should be available and effectively educate every shipyard employees about the hazards of noise and related hearing loss and how to protect their ears actively from shipyard noise.
