        Dual Detection-Guided Newborn Target Intensity Based on Probability Hypothesis Density for Multiple Target Tracking

        The Probability Hypothesis Density (PHD) filter is a suboptimal approximation and tractable alternative to the multi-target Bayesian filter based on random finite sets. However, the PHD filter fails to track newborn targets when the target birth intensity is unknown prior to tracking. In this paper, a dual detection-guided newborn target intensity PHD algorithm is developed to solve the problem, where two schemes, namely, a newborn target intensity estimation scheme and improved measurement-driven scheme, are proposed. First, the newborn target intensity estimation scheme, consisting of the Dirichlet distribution with the negative exponent parameter and target velocity feature, is used to recursively estimate the target birth intensity. Then, an improved measurement-driven scheme is introduced to reduce the errors of the estimated number of targets and computational load. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm can achieve good performance in terms of target states, target number and computational load when the newborn target intensity is not predefined in multi-target tracking systems.

        Small gas adsorption on Co–N4 porphyrin-like CNT for sensor exploitation: a first-principles study

        Using frst-principles theory, we investigated the adsorption performance of CoN4-CNT towards six small gases including NO, O2, H2, H2S, NH3, and CH4, for exploiting its potential application for chemical gas sensors. The frontier molecular orbital theory was conducted to help understand the conductivity change of the proposed material at the presence of gas molecules. The desorption behavior of gas molecules from CoN4-CNT surface at ambient temperature was analyzed as well to determine its suitability for sensing application. Results show that CoN4-CNT is a promising material for O2 and NH3 sensing due to their desirable adsorption and desorption behaviors while not appropriate for sensing NO due to the poor desorption ability and for sensing CH4 and H2 given the poor adsorption behavior. Our calculation would provide a frst insight into the CoN4-embedded efect on the structural and electronic properties of single-walled CNT, and shed light on the application of CoN4-CNT towards sensing of small gases.

        Anterior Gradient 3 Promotes Breast Cancer Development and Chemotherapy Response

        Purpose Anterior gradient 3 (AGR3) belongs to human anterior gradient (AGR) family. The function of AGR3 on cancer remains unknown. This research aimed to investigate if AGR3 had prognostic values in invasive ductal carcinoma (IDC) of breast cancer and could promote tumor progression. Materials and Methods AGR3 expression was detected in breast benign lesions, ductal carcinoma in situ and IDC by immunohistochemistry analysis. AGR3’s correlations with clinicopathological features and prognosis of IDC patients were analyzed. By cell function experiments, collagen gel droplet-embedded culture drug sensitivity test and cytotoxic analysis, AGR3’s impacts on proliferation, invasion ability, and chemotherapeutic drug sensitivity of breast cancer cells were also detected. Results AGR3 was up-regulated in luminal subtype of histological grade I-II of IDC patients and positively correlated with high risks of recurrence and distant metastasis. AGR3 high expression could lead to bone or liver metastasis and predict poor prognosis of luminal B. In cell lines, AGR3 could promote proliferation and invasion ability of breast cancer cells which were consistent with clinical analysis. Besides, AGR3 could indicate poor prognosis of breast cancer patients treated with taxane but a favorable prognosis with 5-fluoropyrimidines. And breast cancer cells with AGR3 high expression were resistant to taxane but sensitive to 5-fluoropyrimidines. Conclusion AGR3 might be a potential prognostic indicator in luminal B subtype of IDC patients of histological grade I-II. And patients with AGR3 high expression should be treated with chemotherapy regimens consisting of 5-fluoropyrimidines but no taxane.
