        Detecting user status from smartphone sensor data

        Due to the high increment in usage and built-in advanced technology of smartphones, human activity recognition relying on smartphone sensor data has become a focused research area. In order to reduce noise of collected data, most of previous studies assume that smartphones are fixed at certain positions. This strategy is impractical for real life applications. To overcome this issue, we here investigate a framework that allows detecting the status of a traveller as idle or moving regardless the position and the direction of smartphones. The application of our work is to estimate the total energy consumption of a traveller during a trip. A number of experiments have been carried out to show the effectiveness of our framework when travellers are not only walking but also using primitive vehicles like motorbikes.

        NaClO3를 함유한 염산용액으로 몰리브데나이트광의 침출

        Molybdenum is widely used in many materials; thus, its recovery from ores and secondary resources has attracted considerable attention. In this study, the leaching of molybdenite ore using hydrochloric acid containing sodium chlorate as an oxidizing agent was studied. The effects of several variables, such as the concentrations of HCl and NaClO3, reaction temperature and time, and pulp density, on the leaching of the ore were investigated. Under strong acidic and oxidizing conditions, the sulfide in the ore was dissolved as a sulfate ion, which formed gypsum with Ca(II), leading to a decrease in the leaching percentage of Mo(VI) from the ore. The leaching percentage of molybdenum was greater than 90%, while those of iron, calcium, and silicon were 38, 29, and 67%, respectively, under the optimum conditions: 2.0 M HCl, 0.5 M NaClO3, pulp density of 5 g/L, temperature of 90 °C, and treatment time of 60 min. 몰리브덴은 소재로 널리 사용되므로 광석 또는 2차자원으로부터 회수가 많은 관심을 끌고 있다. 몰리브데나이트광으로부터 산화제로NaClO3를 함유한 염산용액에 의한 몰리브데나이트광의 침출에 대해 조사했다. 염산 및 NaClO3의 농도, 반응 온도 및 시간과 광액밀도가 광석의 침출에 미치는 영향을 조사했다. 산화력이 센 강산용액에서 황화광은 황산이온으로 산화되면서 용해되어 칼슘이온과 gypsum 을 형성하여 몰리브덴(VI)의 침출률을 감소시켰다. 최적조건(2.0 M HCl, 0.5 M NaClO3, 광액밀도 5 g/L, 90, 60분)에서 몰리브덴, 철, 칼슘 및 실리케이트의 침출률은 각각 90, 38, 29 및 67%이었다.

      • A Hybrid Method Based on Genetic Algorithm and Ant Colony System for Traffic Routing Optimization

        The Ant Colony System (ACS) is a variant of Ant colony optimization algorithm which is well-known in Traveling Salesman Problem. This paper proposed a hybrid method based on genetic algorithm (GA) and ant colony system (ACS), called GACS, to solve traffic routing problem. In the GACS, we use genetic algorithm to optimize the ACS parameters that aims to attain the shortest trips and time through new functions to help the ants to update global and local pheromones. Our experiments are performed by the GACS framework which is developed from VANETsim with the ability of real map loading from open street map project, and updating traffic light in real-time. The obtained results show that our framework acquired higher performance than A-Star and classical ACS algorithms in terms of length of the best global tour and the time for trip.

        Recovery of Au and Pd from the etching solution of printed circuit boards by cementation, solvent extraction, reduction, and precipitation

        Printed circuit boards (PCBs) contain precious metals like Au and Pd. Therefore, it is important to recoverthese metals from waste PCBs. A process was developed in this work to recover pure Au powders and Pdcompounds from the aqua regia etching solution of waste PCBs. Au(III) and Pd(II) were separated bycementation with Cu powder from the etching solutions containing Al(III), Cu(II), Fe(III), Na(I), Ni(II),Sn(II) and Zn(II). The Au and Pd metals present in the cemented Cu were dissolved together with Cuby the mixture of HCl and NaClO. Au(III) was separated from the leaching solution of the cemented Cuby solvent extraction with Cyanex 272. Then pure Au powders were recovered from the thiourea strippingsolution by chemical reduction with hydrazine. In order to recover Pd(II) from the raffinate afterextraction of Au(III), Pd(II) was oxidized to Pd(IV) by adding NaClO3 and then pure Pd compound((NH4)2PdCl6) was recovered by precipitation with NH4Cl. Optimum conditions of these steps wereobtained at room temperature. The purity of the recovered Au and Pd compound was higher than 99%.
