The level structure of 172Dy has been investigated for the first time by means of decay spectroscopy following in-flight fission of a 238U beam. A long-lived isomeric state with T½=0.71(5) s and Kπ=8- has been identified at 1278 keV, which decays to the ground-state and γ-vibrational bands through hindered electromagnetic transitions, as well as to the daughter nucleus 172Ho via allowed β decays. The robust nature of the Kπ=8- isomer and the ground-state rotational band reveals an axially-symmetric structure for this nucleus. Meanwhile, the γ-vibrational levels have been identified at unusually low excitation energy compared to the neighboring well-deformed nuclei, indicating the significance of the microscopic effect on the non-axial collectivity in this doubly mid-shell region. The underlying mechanism of enhanced γ vibration is discussed in comparison with the deformed Quasiparticle Random-Phase Approximation based on a Skyrme energy-density functional.
Progress in R&D of coated conductor in M-PACC project
Izumi, T.,Ibi, A.,Nakaoka, K.,Taneda, T.,Yoshida, T.,Takagi, Y.,Nakamura, T.,Machi, T.,Katayama, K.,Sakai, N.,Yoshizumi, M.,Koizumi, T.,Kimura, K.,Kato, T.,Kiss, T.,Shiohara, Y. The Korea Institute of Applied Superconductivity a 2014 한국초전도저온공학회논문지 Vol.16 No.2
The five-year national project in Japan for R&D of coated conductors and applications, named as the Materials and Power Applications of Coated Conductors (M-PACC) project, was finished at the end of FY2013. The project consists of four sub-themes as cable, transformer, SMES and coated conductors. In the theme of coated conductors, the fabrication process had been developed to satisfy the requirements from the applications such as in-field $I_c$ performance, low AC loss in the long tapes etc. Through the project, the remarkable progress was achieved as follows; a high in-field minimum $I_c$ value over 54A/cm-width under 3T at 77K was realized in a 200m long EuBCO tape with artificial pinning centers of $BaHfO_3$ by the pulsed laser deposition (PLD) technique on the IBAD template. On the other hand, the AC loss reduction was confirmed in the tapes fabricated by both PLD and the metal organic deposition (MOD) techniques by scribing 100m tapes into 10-filamments. Additionally, the mechanism of the delamination phenomenon was systematically investigated and the strength was improved by eliminating the origins of the weak points in the films. Through the development, all targeted goals were accomplished and the several results were appreciated as a world champion data.

Yoshida, M.,Yamamoto, S.,Murakami, T.,Tanaka, M.,Nakaya, T.,Nishikawa, K.,Joo, K.K.,Kim, B.J.,Kim, J.Y.,Kim, S.B.,Lee, M.J.,Lim, I.T. IEEE 2004 IEEE transactions on nuclear science Vol.51 No.6
Readout electronics for the scintillation bar tracking detector (SciBar) in the K2K neutrino oscillation experiment has been developed. SciBar has 14 336 scintillator bars in total. The deposited energy and timing of particles from neutrino interactions in the scintillator bars are measured by 64-channel multianode photo-multiplier tubes (MAPMTs). Compact custom-designed electronics to record the MAPMT signals were developed, consisting of front-end circuit boards attached to each MAPMT and back-end electronics modules sitting in a VME crate. The front-end circuit board multiplexes pulse-height information from all 64 anodes and generates a fast triggering signal. Two sets of ASICs (IDEAS VA32HDR11 and TA32CG) are employed for these functions. The bias voltages and relay of control signals are also handled on the board. The back-end electronics module controls the front-end board by providing the control, timing, and low-voltage signals. The board also digitizes the multiplexed signal from the front-end. The electronics achieves low noise of less than 0.3 photo-electrons and good linearity up to 300 (150) photo-electrons for MAPMTs at the gain of 5×105 (106).
LARGE FORMAT CCD CAMERA FOR THE KISO 105 cm SCHMIDT TELESCOPE
YOSHIDA S.,AOKI T.,SOYANO T.,TARUSAWA K.,HASEGAWA T. The Korean Astronomical Society 1996 Journal of The Korean Astronomical Society Vol.29 No.suppl1
A new CCD camera equipped with a large format chip is now under construction for the Kiso 105-cm Schmidt telescope. We use SITe TK2048E, of which pixel size is 24 ${\mu}m$ and chip size is 48 mm square. TK2048E is thinned back-illuminated so that it has high sensitivity in U-band. The chip is cooled by a refrigerator instead of liquid nitrogen. MESSIA III is used as CCD control system.

T.Kaneko,H. Fujimori,H.Yoshida,K.Watanabe,S.Abe,M.Matsumoto,T.Yoshida,T.Kanomata 한국자기학회 1995 韓國磁氣學會誌 Vol.5 No.5
The magnetization of Mn_(1-X)Co_XPt₃ ordered alloys was measured at various temperatures and the pressure effect on Tc for X=0.25, 0.5 and 0.6 was examined. The X dependence of Tc determined by Arott plot has a minimum near X=0.6. The field-cooling effect measurement for X=0.5 shows a reentrant spin glass behavior. It is found that there is a concentration showing no pressure dependence of Tc between X=0.25 and 0.5. These magnetic properties are discussed with a rigid band model.
Impact of TAGS Measurement on FP Decay Data and Decay Heat Calculations
T. Yoshida,N. Hagura,R. Umezu,A. Algora,J. L. Tain,D. Jordan,T. Tachibana 한국물리학회 2011 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.59 No.23
Nuclear level schemes are usually constructed from the high-resolution data of the gamma-ray transitions which immediately follow the beta-decay of their parents. It is recognized that this procedure may lead to the ``\textit{pandemonium} problem.'' If we use the decay data suffering from the pandemonium problem for the decay heat calculations the beta-ray component will be overestimated and the gamma-ray component underestimated. The beta-feeding data obtained by the total absorption gamma-ray spectroscopy (TAGS) is proved to be free from this problem. In the case of the Japanese data base for the FP decay heat calculation, the theoretical values based on the gross theory of beta-decay are widely introduced to circumvent the pandemonium problem. The gross theory, however, is not good at describing any beta-transition exclusively concentrating to a single level in the daughter nucleus. The TAGS method is also proved to be able to save this situation. Further, we have to change our comprehension over the currently published decay schemes.

A practical blue waveguide Stark-eect optical modulator using ZnSe/ZnMgSSe asymmetric cou- pled quantum wells (ACQWs) has been demonstrated. The device structure is a p-i-n diode with a 50 periods ZnSe(6 ML)/ZnMgSSe(2 ML)/ZnSe(12 ML) ACQW active region grown on an n-GaAs substrate by using molecular beam epitaxy (MBE). The ridge-shape devices are fabricated by wet- etching with a fairly-short eective modulation waveguide length of 13 m and are located under a top stripe-electrode. The waveguide modulator exhibits a high modulation depth of 95 % (contrast ratio: 13 dB) under reverse bias condition of 68 V at room temperature at an operating wavelength of 458 nm. MAGNETIC PROPERTIES OF FePt₃ ORDERED ALLOY
H.Yoshida,H.Fujimorl,T.Kaneko,S.Abe,K.Watanabe,M.Matsumoto,T.Yoshida,T.Kanomata 한국자기학회 1995 韓國磁氣學會誌 Vol.5 No.5
The magnetic properties for Fe₂₄Pt_(76) and Fe_(26)Pt_(74) have been investigated. The temperature vs. magnetic susceptibility curve for Fe₂₄Pt_(76) had no peak near the Neel temperature. The magnetization process at 4.2 K showed only a linear variation up to the high magnetic field of 240 kOe. That for Fe_(26)Pt_(74) at 77 K showed a metamagnetic transition at 100 kOe. These properties were discussed on the basis of a band picture.
