The effect of social context on the use of visual information
Streuber, Stephan,Knoblich, Gü,nther,Sebanz, Natalie,Bü,lthoff, Heinrich H.,de la Rosa, Stephan Springer-Verlag 2011 Experimental brain research Vol.214 No.2

Social context modulates action kinematics. Less is known about whether social context also affects the use of task relevant visual information. We tested this hypothesis by examining whether the instruction to play table tennis competitively or cooperatively affected the kind of visual cues necessary for successful table tennis performance. In two experiments, participants played table tennis in a dark room with only the ball, net, and table visible. Visual information about both players’ actions was manipulated by means of self-glowing markers. We recorded the number of successful passes for each player individually. The results showed that participants’ performance increased when their own body was rendered visible in both the cooperative and the competitive condition. However, social context modulated the importance of different sources of visual information about the other player. In the cooperative condition, seeing the other player’s racket had the largest effects on performance increase, whereas in the competitive condition, seeing the other player’s body resulted in the largest performance increase. These results suggest that social context selectively modulates the use of visual information about others’ actions in social interactions.

After COVID-19 : Reflections on the International Political Economy
Stephan Haggard 제주평화연구원 2020 Jeju Forum Journal Vol.1 No.-
This article makes three JXlints about the post-COVID international JXllitical economy, the first of which is that the pandemic is fur from over. Rather, it is moving into a completEly different phase when developing countries, rather than advanced industrial states, will be its victims. The consequences include not only more severe public health risks, but also a wave of debt crises in both low-income and middle-income countries. The second JXlint is that the pandemic is likely to generate ideational changes. Despite populist backlashes, publics will demand that governments develop the capabilities to protect them, not only from health shocks but from economic ones as well. State capacity will come to the fore. Finally, looking at the US-China relationship, we should not count on a snapback under a Biden administration. Although we can expect a shift toward more multilateral approaches to the Asia-Pacific, Democrats have their own reasons to limit risks from China; the trade war-broadly conceived-will continue even if on new turf.

Background Radium-223, an alpha-emitting therapeutic radiopharmaceutical, prolongs overall survival (OS) in patients with symptomatic bone-predominant metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC). PSMA PET/CT is a molecular imaging tool for whole-body imaging of prostate cancer and may inform on the mechanisms of radium-223 activity and treatment resistance in mCRPC patients. Methods In an open-label, single-arm, prospective trial, we enrolled patients with bone-predominant mCRPC to undergo baseline PSMA PET/CT, 6 cycles of radium-223, and post-therapy PSMA PET/CT. We assessed the relationship between multiple parameters of interval change on PSMA PET/CT on aPROMISE PSMA automated analysis and a human reader, and laboratory measurements. Results Fourteen patients were enrolled and 9 patients completed both protocol-defined PSMA PET/CT. Of the 9 evaluable patients, 1 (11%) had a complete response and 8 (89%) had PSMA PET progressive disease. All patients showed decreases in PSMA uptake in some disease sites evident on the baseline scan. The change in overall burden of disease on PSMA PET was more strongly correlated with changes in PSA (ρ = 0.95) than ALP (ρ = 0.62). Progression in bone was a common finding on post-treatment PSMA PET/CT. Conclusion PSMA PET was able to assess response in individual lesions during radium-223 therapy in mCRPC patients. PSMA PET responses in previously established disease sites were universal, but most patients also showed overall PSMA PET progression during 6 cycles of radium-223. Given high correlation with changes in PSA, PSMA PET may be of limited value in follow-up during or after radium-223 in bone-predominant mCRPC.
Speeding up Additive Manufacturing by Means of Forming for Sheet Components with Core Structures
Stephan Rosenthal,Marlon Hahn,A. Erman Tekkaya,Sebastian Platt,Stefan Kleszczynski,Gerd Witt 한국정밀공학회 2022 International Journal of Precision Engineering and Vol.9 No.4
A new process combination route consisting of additive manufacturing (AM) with a subsequent forming operation is proposed. The process route has the opportunity to increase the efficiency of the AM process route up to 360%. Stainless steel 316L sheets with different core structures (similar to sandwich sheets) are produced by AM, characterized, and formed in a die bending operation. The bending characteristics of this novel semi-finished product can be accurately predicted in a numerical simulation. The new process route is discussed in detail and compared to conventional AM parts in terms of the production efficiency.
