Comparison of essential oil composition between Angelica gigas and Angelica acutiloba
Park,C,H,Juliani,H,R,Park,H,W,Yu,H,S,Simon,J,E 한국자원식물학회 2003 Plant Resources Vol.6 No.3
Two kinds of Angelica belong to Umbelliferae collected, the one is Angelica gigas that is inhabitant in Korea and the other is Angelica acutiloba that is indigenous in Japan at the field of Snyder Research and Extension Farm Rutgers University, New Jersey and was analyszed by GC and GC/MS. The composition of the essential oil of the different aerial parts of the Angelica has been studied. The oil yields obtained upon hydrodistillation were 0.18% (v/w) in Korean Angelica and 0.44% (v/w) in Japanese Angelica on dry root weight basis. By the growing stage in the Rutgers greenhouse condition, leaf and root of essential oil content a little decreased on 9 months later than 4 months later except for Angelica gigas leaf. Both of Angelica showed that amounts of essential oil content presented in order of leaf > petiole > root according to different plant part. The analysis of the essential oil from Angelica root led to the identification of 14 constituents totaling 64% in Korean Angelica and 13 constituents totaling 68% in Japanese Angelica. The major constituents of the Angelica root essential oil were ligustilide (47 %) and gamma terpi (14 %) in Korean Angelica, and alpha pinei (32 %) and nonane (25 %) in Japanese Angelica
Socio-cultural Perspectives and Mediated Use of Language in the Community of Faith
Simon Sinwoong Park 한국기독교학회 2013 한국기독교신학논총 Vol.87 No.-
An Alternative for Today’s Adult Spiritual Development in the Church
Simon Sinwoong Park 한국기독교교육정보학회 2012 Journal of Christian education information tech Vol.0 No.22
Although adults are a main trajectory of Christian spiritual formation, they were neglected for a while. However, during the past few decades, James Fowler’s Faith Development Theory (FDT) has been strongly influencing Christian spiritual development, including Christian adult education, and it causes Christian adult educators and pastors to open their eyes to “adult” as a main trajectory of Christian education. Nevertheless, its linear and cognitive understanding of spiritual development is not enough when it comes to dealing with today’s complicated technological world. This paper, therefore, discusses the possibility of an alternative way for today’s Christian adult educators and pastors to respond to a more complex technical world. That is a hybrid community of faith, which is a blended attempt for an online and face-to-face community of faith.

Comparison between organic and conventional kiwifruit cultivars ‘Hayward’ and ‘Bidan’, which was done by four radical scavenging assays, ESI-MS, and DSC measurements, showed significant differences between the cultivars. Such results were not estimated in kiwifruit growing under organic and conventional conditions. The extraction of bioactive compounds was done by two different methods: sequential extraction with ethyl acetate followed by methanol and maceration with methanol and ethyl acetate. The highest yield of polyphenols was found in the new cultivar ‘Bidan’ in comparison with the classic ‘Hayward’, by direct extraction with methanol. This is the first investigation of ‘Bidan’ kiwifruit cultivar, grown under organic conditions and compared with ‘Hayward’ organic. High contents of bioactive compounds and antioxidant and antiproliferative properties of the two kiwifruit cultivars justify their use as sources of valuable antioxidants. It is necessary to continue this study as a long-term experiment to eliminate the influence of seasonality.

Graphic Abstract

Purchasing Power Parity : Evidence from Won/Dollar Exchange Rates
Park, Young Bae,Kim, Jong Soo,Simon, Sosvilla Rivero 한국생산성학회 2002 THE JOURNAL OF PRODUCTIVITY Vol.8 No.1
Purchasing Power Parity (PPP) is central to exchange rate economics. In its simplest form, PPP provide an equilibrium relationship between exchange rates and national price levels. To test PPP, we use monthly data of won/dollar exchange rate, wholesales price indices and consumer price indices. The data are seasonally unadjusted, and are obtained from the Seoul Bank. The period of investigation is from January, 1973 to December, 1999. In general, we found that the Won/Dollar exchange rate, and the difference in logarithms of whole and retail price indices between Korea and the U. S have unit roots. Also we found no evidence of cointegration for the exchange rate, the statistical tests on the residuals from the cointegrating regression using the wholesale price index are consistent with the hypothesis that the PPP equation represents a cointegrating relationship, but no cointegration is found using the consumer price index. Finally, the Granger causality tests supports the endogeneity of exchange rates and relative prices, thus rendering empirical tests of the PPP theory that ignores this inconsistent.
