This study was conducted to find out what improvement measures are essential for future beauty education in order to keep pace with the rapidly changing technology of the beauty field. In order to figure out what is necessary for the transition from the previous teaching method and environment to field-based beauty education, I progressed investigation with those who have experienced beauty education curriculum. I used SPCC21.0 for the material analysis and implemented CRONBACH’s a for the reliability verification of the questions. In addition, statistical analysis was conducted according to the research purpose using frequency analysis, chi-care test (χ²), exploratory factor analysis, and ANOVA. As a result, in the beauty field-oriented class teaching method, practical education-oriented classes through pilot (demonstration) learning and mutual practice, and the distribution of class hours were the highest in the first class and theory 3: practical 7 in the class. In addition, more than half of the students regretted the lack of feedback from instructors after class, and they were also dissatisfied with facilities that did not fit beauty field-oriented education and underdeveloped facilities. When looking at each major in field-based beauty education, there were significant differences in field-based beauty educational environment, the linkage of field-based beauty education curriculum, and the appropriateness of field-based beauty education methods. Makeup majors showed higher levels of field-based beauty education environment rate (M=3.68) than other groups, and skin beauty majors tended to show a higher rate than other groups in terms of connection of field-based beauty education curriculum (M=3.40) and appropriateness of beauty field-oriented education methods (M=3.91). This study identified what is essential for field-based beauty education, and by improving this, it is believed that it can help students acquire and develop necessary skills in more appropriate fields.
Early experiences of minimally invasive surgery to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease

Purpose: There are fewer patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) in Korea compared with Western countries. The incidence of GERD has increased in recent years however, concerning many physicians. Here, we report our early experiences of using a recently introduced method of laparoscopic antireflux surgery for the treatment of GERD in Korean patients. Methods: Fifteen patients with GERD were treated using antireflux surgery between May 2009 and February 2012 at the University of Ulsan College of Medicine and Asan Medical Center. Laparoscopic Nissen fundoplication with 360° wrapping was performed on all patients. Results: Eleven male and four female patients were evaluated and treated with an average age of 58.1 ± 14.1 years. The average surgical time was 118.9 ± 45.1 minutes, and no complications presented during surgery. After surgery, the reflux symptoms of each patient were resolved; only two patients developed transient dysphagia, which resolved within one month. One patient developed a 6-cm hiatal hernia that had to be repaired and reinforced using mesh. Conclusion: The use of laparoscopic surgery for the treatment of GERD is safe and feasible. It is also an efficacious method for controlling the symptoms of GERD in Korean patients. However, the use of this surgery still needs to be standardized (e.g., type of surgery, bougienage size, wrap length) and the long-term outcomes need to be evaluated.
An Effective Calculation Method for Radiative Exchange in an Enclosure with Specular Surfaces

<P>A new calculation method is proposed to determine the radiative heat transfer in enclosures composed of specularly reflecting surfaces. This method is based on the concept of the transition reflection in the context of the ray-tracing method, by which only two reflections of ray tracing are necessary to consider in the evaluation of net radiative transfer rate. This method can also be used not only for diffuse and specular surfaces but also for directional surfaces such as non-Lambert surface. Because the radiative exchange rate can be obtained by considering only two reflections of ray tracing, the matrix inversion is not required, and thus computational time can be reduced substantially. In order to validate the present method, the radiative exchange between two parallel plates is calculated, and the results are compared with those of previous methods including analytic solutions and stochastic methods. The parameters tested are the wall emissivity and the ratio of the distance between two plates to the length of plates. For all cases considered, the present results are in excellent agreement with exact solutions within 0.5% error, and show better accuracy than other methods. The new calculation method is also tested for nondiffusely emitting and reflecting surfaces of platinum and glass.</P>

A 55-year-old woman was admitted for an elevated serum carbohydrate antigen-125 (CA-125) level, and a left pleural effusion, which were detected at a routine health examination. Computed tomography of the chest was performed upon admission, revealing extensive bilateral paratracheal and mediastinal lymph node enlargement with a massive left-sided pleural effusion. Subsequent analysis of the pleural fluid demonstrated consistency with an exudate, no evidence of malignant cells, and a normal adenosine deaminase. However, the pleural fluid and serum CA-125 levels were 2,846.8 U/mL and 229.5 U/mL, respectively. A positron emission tomography did not reveal any primary focus of malignancy. Finally, a surgical mediastinoscopic biopsy of several mediastinal lymph nodes was performed, revealing non-necrotizing granulomas, consistent with sarcoidosis. After a month of treatment of prednisolone, the left pleural effusion had resolved, and after 2 months the serum CA-125 level was normalized.
