      • Acquisition, Processing and Image Generation System for Camera Data Onboard Spacecraft

C.V.R Subbaraya Sastry,G.S Narayan Rao,N Ramakrishna,V.K Hariharan International Journal of Computer ScienceNetwork S 2023 International journal of computer science and netw Vol.23 No.3

The primary goal of any communication spacecraft is to provide communication in variety of frequency bands based on mission requirements within the Indian mainland. Some of the spacecrafts operating in S-band utilizes a 6m or larger aperture Unfurlable Antenna (UFA for S-band links and provides coverage through five or more S-band spot beams over Indian mainland area. The Unfurlable antenna is larger than the satellite and so the antenna is stowed during launch. Upon reaching the orbit, the antenna is deployed using motors. The deployment status of any deployment mechanism will be monitored and verified by the telemetered values of micro-switch position before the start of deployment, during the deployment and after the completion of the total mechanism. In addition to these micro switches, a camera onboard will be used for capturing still images during primary and secondary deployments of UFA. The proposed checkout system is realized for validating the performance of the onboard camera as part of Integrated Spacecraft Testing (IST) conducted during payload checkout operations. It is designed for acquiring the payload data of onboard camera in real-time, followed by archiving, processing and generation of images in near real-time. This paper presents the architecture, design and implementation features of the acquisition, processing and Image generation system for Camera onboard spacecraft. Subsequently this system can be deployed in missions wherever similar requirement is envisaged.

      • Combustion Synthesized Europium Doped LaAl11O18 Phosphors—An Electron Paramagnetic Resonance and Optical Study

        Singh, Vijay,Sivaramaiah, G.,Rao, J. L.,Kumaran, R. Senthil,Dhoble, S. J. American Scientific Publishers 2016 Journal of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology Vol.16 No.1

<P>By adopting a facile solution combustion synthesis, crystallized europium doped blue phosphors were successfully prepared. These phosphors were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared absorption (FT-IR), energy dispersive analysis of X-ray, Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR) and Photoluminescence (PL) experimental methods. The photoluminescence spectrum indicates Eu2+ and Eu3+ ions in these phosphors. The band at around 442 nm is attributed to the spin-allowed 4f(6)5d(1) (D-2) -> (4)f(7)(S-6(7/2)) transition of Eu2+ ions. The sharp bands at 591 (D-5(0) -> F-7(1)) and 616 (D-5(0) -> F-7(2)) nm are attributed to the spin-forbidden transitions of Eu3+ ions. The EPR spectra of as-prepared and post-treated LaAl11O18:Eu phosphors exhibit signals characteristic of La2+ and Eu2+ ions. The number of spins, Gibbs energy, magnetic susceptibility, Curie constant and effective magnetic moment values were calculated and compared at 296 and 110 K.</P>

Existence of Partially Degenerate Electrical Transport in Intermetallic Cu2SnSe3 Thermoelectric System Sintered at Different Temperatures

        K. Gurukrishna,H. R. Nikhita,S. M. Mallikarjuna Swamy,Ashok Rao 대한금속·재료학회 2022 METALS AND MATERIALS International Vol.28 No.8

A detailed investigation on the temperature dependent electrical properties of Cu2SnSe3system, synthesized via conventionalsolid-state reaction at different sintering temperatures are presented in this communication. All the samples exhibit degeneratesemiconducting nature at low temperatures. The existence of small polarons and hence electron–phonon interactionsare confirmed at temperatures below 400 K. A transition was observed from degenerate to non-degenerate semiconductingbehaviour at high temperatures (T > 400 K). The study confirms the unusual transition in electrical resistivity as well asthermopower at high temperatures in all the compounds, demonstrating the existence of minority carrier excitation alongwith temperature-triggered ionisation of the defects. The transport behaviour is further supported by an upward movementof Fermi level away from the valence band. Highest weighted mobility of 8.2 cm2V−1 s−1 at 673 K was obtained for thesample sintered at 1073 K. A considerable decrease in electrical resistivity with increase in temperature (T > 400 K) hasdriven the power factor to increase exponentially, thereby achieving highest value of 188 μV/mK2 (at 673 K) for the samplesintered at 673 K.

A STUDY OF THE DYNAMICAL CROSS CORRELATION FUNCTION IN A BLACK HOLE SOURCE XTE J1550-564

        SRIRAM, K.,CHOI, C.S.,RAO, A.R. The Korean Astronomical Society 2015 天文學論叢 Vol.30 No.2

The short time scale X-ray variability associated with the accretion disk around compact objects is complex and is vaguely understood. The study of the cross correlation function gives an insight into the energy dependent behavior of the variations and hence connected processes. Using high resolution RXTE data, we investigate the dynamical cross correlation function of an observation of a black hole source XTE J1550-564 in the steep power law state. The cross correlation between soft and hard X- ray energy bands revealed both correlated and anti-correlated delays (${\leq}{\pm}15s$) on a correlation time scale of 50 s. It was noticed that the observed delays were similar to the delays between X-ray and optical/IR bands in other black hole and neutron star sources. We discuss the possible mechanisms/processes to explain the observed delays in the dynamical CCF.

Preparation of polypyrrole by chemical oxidation: applications for sensor studies

        S. Pavithra,R. Thejas,H. N. Anil Rao,B. S. Krishna,G. Nagaraju 한국고분자학회 2024 Macromolecular Research Vol.32 No.1

Polypyrrole has gained more attention in conducting polymer science due to its ease of preparation and many advantages. In this article, by chemical oxidation method, three different polypyrroles were prepared using ferric chloride as an oxidant, including surfactant and natural directing agent, and named the samples PPY-1, PPY-2, and PPY-3. XRD, XPS, EDX, FT-IR, SEM, and electrical conductivity was used to characterize the synthesized polypyrrole. XRD confirms that the prepared samples were polypyrrole by showing peaks in the range of 20°–23°. SEM analysis shows that the sizes are between 120 and 180 nm. The present research work is a modest attempt to demonstrate for the first-time detection of hazardous gas using natural directing agent during polypyrrole synthesis. The prepared samples were used for the sensing of butane. PPY-2 shows a high electrical conductivity of 14 × 10– 3 S cm− 1 and gas sensing with a sensitivity value of 42.03 with lesser response and recovery time. This study reveals the fabrication of low-cost materials for butane sensors.

Dietary Calcium and Non-phytin Phosphorus Interaction on Growth, Bone Mineralization and Mineral Retention in Broiler Starter Chicks

        Rao, S.V. Rama,Raju, M.V.L.N.,Reddy, M.R.,Pavani, P.,Sunder, G. Shyam,Sharma, R.P. Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2003 Animal Bioscience Vol.16 No.5

An experiment was conducted to study the requirement of calcium (Ca) and non-phytin phosphorus (NPP) in commercial broilers during starter phase. Seven hundred and twenty day-old Vencob male broiler chicks were randomly distributed into 144 stainless steel battery brooders, 5 birds in each. Four levels each of Ca (6, 7, 8, and 9 g/kg) and NPP (3, 3.5, 4, and 4.5 g/kg diet) were fed in a factorial design in a corn-soya basal diet. Levels of dicalcium phosphate and oyster shell grit were adjusted to obtain the desired levels of Ca and NPP. Each diet was fed ad libidum to chicks in 9 battery brooders from one d to 21 d of age. Body weight gain and feed intake were depressed (p<0.01) by increasing the dietary Ca level (8 and 9 g/kg) at lower levels of NPP (3 and 3.5 g/kg diet). The growth depression observed at lower NPP level was alleviated by reducing the Ca content to 6 g/kg diet. The tibia ash content and tibia breaking strength increased with increase in both Ca (>6 g/kg) and NPP (>3 g/kg) levels. The leg abnormality score decreased (p<0.01) with increase in NPP content in the diet at all levels of Ca tested. The serum Ca and inorganic P levels were increased with increase in the level of the respective mineral in the diet, but the serum concentration of Ca and P were inversely related to the level of NPP and Ca, respectively /kg diet. In general, the excretion of macro minerals (Ca, and P), and micro minerals {zinc (Zn), manganese (Mn), iron (Fe), and copper (Cu)} was significantly lower at lower levels of Ca and NPP tested (6 and 3 g/kg diet, respectively). The mineral excretion increased with increase in dietary Ca and NPP levels, more conspicuously at the disproportionate ratio of these minerals (>2:1, Ca and NPP). Similarly, the retention of Zn, Mn, and Fe in liver was significantly higher (p<0.01) at lower levels of Ca and NPP tested. Results from this study indicate that the commercial broilers do not require more than 3 g NPP and 6g Ca/kg diet during starter phase (up to 21 d of age) for optimum weight gain, feed efficiency and utilization of Ca, P, Zn, Mn, Fe and Cu. However, the requirements of these minerals for optimum bone mineralization were higher than the levels suggested above.

Effect of Supplementing Microbial Phytase on Performance of Broiler Breeders Fed Low Non-phytate Phosphorus Diet

        Bhanja, S.K.,Reddy, V.R.,Panda, A.K.,Rao, S.V. Rama,Sharma, R.P. Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2005 Animal Bioscience Vol.18 No.9

An experiment was conducted to study the production performance of broiler breeder females (25 to 40 weeks of age) fed either reference diet or low non-phytate phosphorus (NPP) diet with or without microbial phytase (500 FYT/kg) supplementation. A weighed (160 g/b/d) quantity of feed from each diet was offered daily to 40 replicates of one bird each housed in California type cage having individual feeders. Each cage was considered as a replicate. A continuous 16-h light per day was provided using incandescent bulbs. Body weight, egg production, egg weight, feed per egg mass, egg specific gravity, egg breaking strength, shell thickness, tibia ash and serum Ca and protein concentrations were not affected by reducing the NPP level from 0.30 to 0.18% in the broiler breeder diet. Supplementation of phytase (500 FYT/kg) enzyme to the diet containing 0.18% NPP had no added advantage on any of the above production parameters. The serum inorganic P was increased significantly (p<0.05) by either enhancing the NPP content from 0.18 to 0.30% or supplementing phytase @500 FYT/kg to the diet containing low P which were found comparable. Retention of Ca and P was positive on all the diets. P retention decreased significantly (p<0.05) with either increase in NPP content or phytase supplementation in the diet. Neither NPP nor phytase supplementation influenced bone mineralization in terms of tibia ash and strength. The hatchability was not influenced by either increasing the NPP content or supplementing the enzyme phytase. Similarly, the P concentration in the egg yolk and day old chick, day old and 14th day body weight and leg score was not altered by increasing the level of NPP or supplementing phytase enzyme. The mortality was within the normal limits in all the three dietary groups. Thus, it can be concluded that 0.18% NPP (288 mg NPP intake/b/d) in the broiler breeder' diet is adequate in sustaining the optimum performance from 25 to 40 wks of age. Enhancing the NPP content or supplementation of phytase (500 FYT/kg diet) to diet containing 0.18% NPP had no added advantage on performance.
