Synthesis and Fungitoxicity of Some Pyrimidine Derivatives
Ouf, Salama A.,Sherif, Sherif M. The Pharmaceutical Society of Korea 1993 Archives of Pharmacal Research Vol.16 No.1
A series of 12 pyrimidine derivatives were prepared and tested in vitro against growth, sporulation and nucleic acids of Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. lycopersici and Helminthosporium oryzae. Intorduction of thiazole ring together with two aryl groups to 2-aminopyrimidine induced drastic toxicity for both fungi. Pyrimidine derivatives with aryl groups were less toxic. Nitro groups were found to enhance the toxicity of the pyrimidine derivatives especially when substituted in ortho-position of the aryl groups. Inhibition of nudeic acids synthesis of both fungi was attributed mainly to the presence of thiazole ring.

New complexes cis-[$Mo_2O_5(Hapdhba)_2$], trans-[$UO_2(Hapdhba)_2$], [Pd(Hapdhba)Cl($H_2O$)], [Pd(bpy)(Hapdhba)]Cl, [Ag(bpy)(Hapdhba)], [$Ru(Hapdhba)_2(H_2O)_2$], [$Rh(Hapdhba)_2Cl(H_2O)$] and [Au(Hapdhba)$Cl_2$] are reported, where $H_2$apdhba is the Schiff-base derived from 2-aminopyrimidine and 2,4-dihydroxy benzaldehyde. The complexes were characterized by IR, electronic, $^1H$ NMR and mass spectra, conductivity, magnetic and thermal measurements. The inhibitive effect of $H_2$apdhba for the corrosion of copper in 0.5 M HCl was also determined by potentiodynamic polarization measurements. 새로운 착물인 cis-[$Mo_2O_3(Hapdhba)_2$], trans-[$UO_2(Hapdhba)_2$], [Pd(Hapdhba)Cl($H_2O$)], [Pd(bpy)(Hapdhba)]Cl, [Ag(bpy) (Hapdhba)], [$Ru(Hapdhba)_2(H_2O)_2$], [$Rh(Hapdhba)_2Cl(H_2O)$] 및 [Au(Hapdhba)$Cl_2$]를 보고한다.

Purpose: The lower limb injuries still one of the devastating problems in surgical practice. Complex defects may affect one major vessel that supplies the distal portion of the leg and foot. The use of the flow-through technique is a very useful tool for sure vascularization of the flap and revascularization of the distal limb at the same time. The aim of this study was to evaluate the advantages of the use of the flow-through technique for lower limb reconstruction. Methods: This retrospective study was including 15 patients complaining of post-traumatic leg and/or foot defects. Free latissimus muscle transfer with the flow-through technique was done for lower limb reconstruction. The subscapular ar-tery was anastomosed to the proximal segment of the limb vessel and the circumflex scapular artery anastomosed to the distal segment of the limb vessel. Follow-up was for six months. Results: Patients were followed for 6 months. All flaps were survived and there were no anastomotic complications. Conclusion: The use of the flow-through technique is a very useful tool for vascularization of the flap and revasculariza-tion of the distal limb at the same time.

Multicomponent phenol hydroxylases (mPHs) are diiron enzymes that use molecular oxygen to hydroxylate a variety of phenolic compounds. The DNA sequence of the alpha subunit (large subunit) of mPH from 4-chlorophenol (4-CP)-degrading bacterial strain PT3 was determined. Strain PT3was isolated from oil-contaminated soil samples adjacent to automobile workshops and oil stations after enrichment and establishment of a chlorophenol-degrading consortium. Strain PT3 was identified as a member of Pseudomonas sp. based on sequence analysis of the 16S rRNA gene fragment. The 4-CP catabolic pathway by strain PT3 was tentatively proposed to proceed via a meta-cleavage pathway after hydroxylation to the corresponding chlorocatechol. This hypothesis was supported by polymerase chain reaction (PCR)detection of the LmPH encoding sequence and UV/VIS spectrophotometric analysis of the culture filtrate showing accumulation of 5-chloro-2-hydroxymuconic semialdehyde (5-CHMS) with λmax 380. The detection of catabolic genes involved in 4-CP degradation by PCR showed the presence of both mPH and catechol 2,3-dioxygenase (C23DO). Nucleotide sequence analysis of the alpha subunit of mPH from strain PT3 revealed specific phylogenetic grouping to known mPH. The metal coordination encoding regions from strain PT3were found to be conserved with those from the homologous dinuclear oxo-iron bacterial monooxygenases. Two DE(D)XRH motifs was detected in LmPH of strain PT3within an approximate 100 amino acid interval, a typical arrangement characteristic of most known PHs.
