Transverse piezoelectric properties of Mn-doped Bi0.5Na0.5TiO3 thin films

Bich Thuy Nguyen,원성식,박봉찬,조용진,안창원,김일원,김태훈 한국물리학회 2020 Current Applied Physics Vol.20 No.12

Lead-free (Bi0.5Na0.5)(Ti1-xMnx)O3 (BNTMn-x; x = 0, 0.0025, 0.0050, 0.0100) thin films were fabricated using a chemical solution deposition method on Pt/TiO2/SiO2/Si substrate. The effect of Mn substitution on crystal structures, surface morphologies, and ferroelectric and transverse piezoelectric properties of BNTMn-x thin films was investigated. The 0.5 mol% Mn-doped (Bi0.5Na0.5)(Ti0.995Mn0.005)O3 thin film exhibited a well-saturated ferroelectric P-E hysteresis loop at room temperature. A remnant polarization (Pr) of 16 μC/cm2 was obtained for the BNTMn-0.0050 film at an applied electric field of 400 kV/cm. In addition, a 1.12-μm-thick BNTMn- 0.0050 film was applied as a cantilever. The Pt/BNTMn-0.0050/Pt/TiO2/SiO2/Si unimorph cantilever exhibited a high transverse piezoelectric coefficient (e*31) of 2.43 C/m2.

Antibiotic-Resistant Gram-negative Bacteria Carriage in Healthcare Workers Working in an Intensive Care Unit

        Duong Bich Thuy,Duong Minh Cuong,Campbell James,Nguyen Van Minh Hoang,Nguyen Huu Hien,Bui Thi Bich Hanh,Nguyen Van Vinh Chau,McLaws Mary-Louise 대한감염학회 2021 Infection and Chemotherapy Vol.53 No.3

Little is known about antibiotic-resistant Gram-negative bacteria (GNB) intestinal carriage among healthcare workers (HCWs) in Vietnam. All HCWs at a tertiary intensive care units were asked to undertake weekly rectal swabs. Among 40 participants, 65% (26/40) carried extended spectrum β-lactamases (ESBL)/AmpC β-lactamase-producing Escherichia coli. Two HCWs colonized with ESBL/AmpC β-lactamase-producing Klebsiella pneumoniae. One HCW colonized with Acinetobacter baumannii. No one carried Pseudomonas spp.. A quarter (10/40) of HCWs were identified as persistent and frequent carriers. There is an urgent need to screen antibiotic-resistant GNB among HCWs and improve HCWs’ hand hygiene compliance to reduce the transmission of antibiotic-resistant GNB in the hospital.

The Impact of Organizational Culture on the Sustainable Competitive Advantage of Commercial Banks: A Case Study in Vietnam

Thi Bich Thuy NGUYEN,Quang Bach TRAN 한국유통과학회 2021 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.8 No.9

A bank’s competitive advantage helps in enhancing its ability to maintain a competitive advantage in product consumption, expand the consumption market, and effectively use business factors to maximize economic growth. The research aims to investigate the impact of organizational culture on the sustainable competitive advantage of commercial banks in Vietnam. The study adopts a quantitative research method, through structural equation modeling analysis (SEM). A survey was conducted on 608 participants who are staff at commercial banks in Vietnam. Research results show that organizational culture has both a direct and indirect impact on sustainable competitive advantage through factors of social responsibility and knowledge sharing. Based on these findings, the study gives some recommendations to contribute to the creation, maintenance, and development of sustainable competitive advantages of commercial banks. The findings of this study have shown the importance and impact of organizational culture on many aspects of a bank’s sustainable competitive advantage. These are meaningful contributions in both theory and practice to help banks gain more insight into human resources management. The study also raises an issue on the need to care about and develop an organizational culture to bring professionalism, initiative, and fairness in all activities of commercial banks.

Evaluation Factors Influencing Construction Price Index in Fuzzy Uncertainty Environment

NGUYEN, Phong Thanh,HUYNH, Vy Dang Bich,NGUYEN, Quyen Le Hoang Thuy To Korea Distribution Science Association 2021 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.8 No.2

In recent years, Vietnam's economic growth rate has been attributed to the growth of many well-managed industries within Southeast Asia. Among them is the civil construction industry. Construction projects typically take a long time to complete and require a huge budget. Many socio-economic variables and factors affect total construction project costs due to market fluctuations. In recent years, crucial socioeconomic development indicators of construction reached a fairly high growth rate. Also, most infrastructure and construction projects have a high degree of complexity and uncertainty. This makes it challenging to predict the accurate project price. These challenges raise the need to recognize significant factors that influence the construction price index of civil buildings in Vietnam, both micro and macro. Therefore, this paper presents critical factors that affect the construction price index using the fuzzy extent analysis process in an uncertain environment. This proposed quantitative model is expected to reflect the uncertainty in the process of evaluating and ranking the influencing factors of the construction price index in Vietnam. The research results would also allow project stakeholders to be more informed of the factors affecting the construction price index in the context of Vietnam's civil construction industry. They also enable construction contractors to estimate project costs and bid rates better, enhancing their project and risk management performance.

Environmental Chemical-Dioxin Impacts on Biological Systems: A Review

        Thuy Thi Bich Vo,Binh Thi Nguyen Le,Hai Van Nong,Hyun Yang,Eui-Bae Jeung 韓國受精卵移植學會 2013 한국동물생명공학회지 Vol.28 No.2

Worldwide there is concern about the continuing release of a broad range of environmental endocrine disrupting chemicals, including polychlorinated biphenyls, dioxins, phthalates, polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs), and other halogenated organochlorines persistent organic pollutants (POPs) into the environment. They are condemned for health adverse effects such as cancer, reproductive defects, neurobehavioral abnormalities, endocrine and immunological toxicity. These effects can be elicited via a number of mechanisms among others include disruption of endocrine system, oxidation stress and epigenetic. However, most of the mechanisms are not clear, thus several number of studies are ongoing trying to elucidate them in order to protect the public by reducing these adverse effects. In this review, we briefly limited review the process, the impacts, and the potential mechanisms of dioxin/dioxin like compound, particularly, their possible roles in adverse developmental and reproductive processes, diseases, and gene expression and associated molecular pathways in cells.

Exploring Critical Risk Factors of Office Building Projects

NGUYEN, Phong Thanh,PHAM, Cuong Phu,PHAN, Phuong Thanh,VU, Ngoc Bich,DUONG, My Tien Ha,NGUYEN, Quyen Le Hoang Thuy To Korea Distribution Science Association 2021 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.8 No.2

Risks and uncertainty are unavoidable problems in management of projects. Therefore, project managers should not only prevent risks, but also have to respond and manage them. Risk management has become a critical interest subject in the construction industry for both practitioners and researchers. This paper presents critical risk factors of office building projects in the construction phase in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Data was collected through a questionnaire survey based on the likelihood and consequence level of risk factors. These factors fell into five groups: (i) financial risk factors; (ii) management risk factors; (iii) schedule risk factors; (iv) construction risk factors; and (v) environment risk factors. The research results showed that critical factors affecting office building projects are natural (i.e., prolonged rain, storms, climate effects) and human-made issues (i.e., soil instability, safety behaviors, owner's design change) and the schedule-related risk factors contributed to the most significant risks for office buildings projects in the construction phase in Ho Chi Minh City. They give construction management and project management practitioners a new perspective on risks and risk management of office buildings projects in Ho Chi Minh City and are proactive in the awareness, response, and management of risk factors comprehensively.

Influence of post-annealing on Mn-doped (K0.5Na0.5)NbO3 thin films

        Sheeraz Muhammad,Nguyen Bich Thuy,한형수,Bae Jong-Seong,Cho Shinuk,Kim Tae Heon,Ahn Chang Won,김일원 한국물리학회 2022 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.80 No.7

In this work, we synthesized the Mn-doped ( K0.5Na0.5)NbO3 (KNMN) thin films via RF-magnetron sputtering. The effect of the post-annealing temperature on the KNMN film was studied in terms of its structural, ferroelectric, and leakage current properties. We achieved a single perovskite phase in KNMN film. The crystalline quality of the KNMN film was improved further via post-annealing the thin film in the rapid temperature process (RTP), the increase in the intensity of the (100) peak as well as the identification of the additional (200) diffraction peak. The increase in the ferroelectric performance and the reduction in the leakage current density of the post-annealed KNMN film were attributed to the improved crystallinity of the KNMN film. Based on the X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy results, we noticed that the effect of both the chemisorbed layer and the oxygen vacancies was weakened further, thus increasing the crystalline quality of the KNMN film due to post-annealing.

The complete mitochondrial genome sequence of the indigenous I pig (Sus scrofa) in Vietnam

        Hieu Duc Nguyen,Tuan Anh Bui,Phuong Thanh Nguyen,Oanh Thi Phuong Kim,Thuy Thi Bich Vo 아세아·태평양축산학회 2017 Animal Bioscience Vol.30 No.7

Objective: The I pig is a long nurtured longstanding breed in Vietnam, and contains excellent indigenous genetic resources. However, after 1970s, I pig breeds have become a small population because of decreasing farming areas and increasing pressure from foreign breeds with a high growth rate. Thus, there is now the risk of the disappearance of the I pigs breed. The aim of this study was to focus on classifying and identifying the I pig genetic origin and supplying molecular makers for conservation activities. Methods: This study sequenced the complete mitochondrial genome and used the sequencing result to analyze the phylogenetic relationship of I pig with Asian and European domestic pigs and wild boars. The full sequence was annotated and predicted the secondary tRNA. Results: The total length of I pig mitochondrial genome (accession number KX094894) was 16,731 base pairs, comprised two rRNA (12S and 16S), 22 tRNA and 13 mRNA genes. The annotation structures were not different from other pig breeds. Some component indexes as AT content, GC, and AT skew were counted, in which AT content (60.09%) was smaller than other pigs. We built the phylogenetic trees from full sequence and D loop sequence using Bayesian method. The result showed that I pig, Banna mini, wild boar (WB) Vietnam and WB Hainan or WB Korea, WB Japan were a cluster. They were a group within the Asian clade distinct from Chinese pigs and other Asian breeds in both phylogenetic trees (0.0004 and 0.0057, respectively). Conclusion: These results were similar to previous phylogenic study in Vietnamese pig and showed the genetic distinctness of I pig with other Asian domestic pigs.

The Impact of Capital Requirement on Bank Performance: Empirical Evidence from Vietnamese Commercial Banks

LE, Trung Hai,NGUYEN, Ngan Bich,NGUYEN, Duong Thuy Korea Distribution Science Association 2022 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.9 No.6

This paper examines the effects of regulatory capital on a bank's profitability and risk. We employ annual data from Vietnamese commercial banks from 2005 to 2020 and use the dynamic GMM regression method to address the potential endogeneity issue, more suitable for panel data with relatively low time dimensions. Our panel regressions indicate that higher regulatory capital would significantly improve the bank's profitability and lower the bank risks. In particular, a one percent increase in the regulatory capital would significantly increase the bank's return on assets by 1.9%. We further explore the heterogeneous impacts of regulatory capital on the Vietnamese bank's performance across bank characteristics. We find that smaller, non-state-owned and non-listed banks would benefit from stringent regulatory capital requirements. The improvements in bank performance are mainly driven by reductions in the risk premium of the banks, resulting in lower funding costs and higher profitability. These findings are essential since Vietnam, as an emerging market, has only implemented the Basel II reform recently on a stable and fast-growing background rather than as a reaction to the global financial crisis. Thus, our empirical results support stringent regulatory capital in emerging countries to ensure a stable banking sector and boost economic growth.
