Synthesis of Au/Pd bimetallic nanoparticles and their application in the Suzuki coupling reaction

Mahmoud Nasrollahzadeh,Abbas Azarian,Mehdi Maham,Ali Ehsani 한국공업화학회 2015 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.21 No.1

This communication reports on the synthesis and use of Au/Pd bimetallic nanoparticles, as separablecatalysts for ligand-free Suzuki coupling reactions. This method has the advantages of high yields, elimination of homogeneous catalysts, green reaction conditions, simple methodology and easy work up. Catalytic efficiency remains unaltered even after several repeated cycles. The catalyst was characterizedusing the SEM and EDS.

      • Co-Expression of Putative Cancer Stem Cell Markers, CD133 and Nestin, in Skin Tumors

Sabet, Mehrdad Nasrollahzadeh,Rakhshan, Azadeh,Erfani, Elham,Madjd, Zahra Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.19

Background: Cancer stem cells (CSC) are populations of cells responsible for tumor initiation, progression and therapeutic resistance in many cancers. In the present study, we aimed to investigate the expression pattern and clinical significance of two CSC markers, CD133 and Nestin, in a series of skin tumors. Materials and Methods: One hundred and thirteen paraffin blocks from skin cancers including 16 (14%) cases of melanoma, 37 (33%) of squamous cell cancer (SCC) and 60 (53%) of basal cell cancer (BCC) were collected and assembled in a tissue microarray (TMA). The samples were immunohistochemically examined for the expression of CD133 and Nestin. Expression of these markers was also correlated with clinicopathological parameters. Results: A significant difference was observed in the expression of CD133 and Nestin in melanomas, SCC and BCC (p value=0.001). Furthermore, the level of expression was significantly higher in the melanomas compared to the SCC and BCC tumors. Expression of CD133 in the melanoma was significantly associated with increased tumor invasiveness (p value=0.05), a higher rate of metastasis (p value=0.04) and the presence of ulceration (p value=0.02). Increased expression of Nestin was observed in metastatic melanoma (p value=0.04), while no statistically significant correlation was found with other clinicopathological parameters including Breslow thickness, Clark level and ulceration. Conclusions: Elevated expression levels of CD133 and Nestin in the melanomas are associated with advanced disease, with more aggressive and metastatic skin tumors. Therefore, these markers could be potential therapeutic targets for malignant tumors of the skin.

Electrochemical and quantum chemical investigation of inhibitory of 1,4-Ph(OX)2(Ts)2 on corrosion of 1005 aluminum alloy in acidic medium

        Ali Ehsani,Mahmoud Nasrollahzadeh,Mohammad Ghasem Mahjani,Reza Moshrefi,Hossein Mostaanzadeh 한국공업화학회 2014 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.20 No.6

The 3,30-(1,4-phenylene)bis(2-imino-2,3-dihydrobenzo[d]oxazole-5,3-iyl)bis(4-thylbenzenesulfonate)(1,4-Ph(OX)2(Ts)2) was synthesized and its inhibiting action on the corrosion of 1005 aluminum alloy(Al) in sulphuric acid was investigated by means of potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemicalimpedance spectroscopy (EIS). In the potentiodynamic polarization measurements the values of bc hadsmall changes with increasing inhibitor concentration, which indicated that the 1,4-Ph(OX)2(Ts)2 wasadsorbed on the metal surface and the addition of the inhibitor hindered the acid attack on the Alelectrode. In anodic domain, the value of ba decreases with the presence of 1,4-Ph(OX)2(Ts)2. The shift inthe anodic Tafel slope ba might be attributed to the modification of anodic dissolution process due to theinhibitor modules adsorption on the active sites. The inhibition efficiencies were obtained from weightloss measurement and electrochemical tests. The adsorption of 1,4-Ph(OX)2(Ts)2 onto the Al surfacefollowed the Langmuir adsorption model with the free energy of adsorption -△G0ads of -5.13 kJ mol1. Quantum chemical calculations were employed to give further insight into the mechanism of inhibitionaction of 1,4-Ph(OX)2(Ts)2.

Probabilistic failure analysis of 400 kV transmission tower-line system subjected to wind and ice hazards

Amir Mahmoudi,Kourosh Nasrollahzadeh,Mohammad-Ali Jafari 한국풍공학회 2021 Wind and Structures, An International Journal (WAS Vol.33 No.3

Transmission line (TL) structures are exposed mostly to particular environmental conditions, which are likely to damage the line. Long experience in power systems shows that the reliability of TLs in nature is closely related to climate conditions. The purpose of this study is to develop a probabilistic framework for estimating the annual failure probability of 400kV TL components considering the coincidence of multiple hazards with the Scenario Sampling method. Regression equations are presented to account for two sources of uncertainty including the eccentricity of connection in tower modeling, and the temperature effect on the conductor's ultimate tension in loading. The correlation matrix for maximum wind speed, maximum radial ice thickness, and temperature in the studied line is presented by analyzing local meteorological data. These correlation coefficients impose a constraint on the magnitudes of the occurrence models. The tower system used in the reliability analysis is addressed by eliminating critical members and studying changes in demand-to-capacity ratios in other members. Bimodal bounds are used to estimate the annual failure probability of the TL system. Finally, the TL towers' fragility curves for various wind speeds as well as for different values of radial ice thickness at a constant wind speed are presented within the proposed framework

      • effective shear area; hole wall thread failure; plastic out-of-plane deformation; thread-fixed one-side bolts

Mohammad Hesam Soleimani-Babakamali,Kourosh Nasrollahzadeh,Amin Moghadam 국제구조공학회 2022 Steel and Composite Structures, An International J Vol.42 No.1

This study introduces a general reliability-based, performance-based design framework to design frames regarding their uncertainties and user-defined design goals. The Iterative-R method extracted from the main framework can designate a proper R (i.e., response modification factor) satisfying the design goal regarding target reliability index and pre-defined probability of collapse. The proposed methodology is based on FEMA P-695 and can be used for all systems that FEMA P-695 applies. To exemplify the method, multiple three-dimensional, four-story steel special moment-resisting frames are considered. Closed-form relationships are fitted between frames' responses and the modeling parameters. Those fits are used to construct limit state functions to apply reliability analysis methods for design safety assessment and the selection of proper R. The frameworks' unique feature is to consider arbitrarily defined probability density functions of frames' modeling parameters with an insignificant analysis burden. This characteristic enables the alteration in those parameters' distributions to meet the design goal. Furthermore, with sensitivity analysis, the most impactful parameters are identifiable for possible improvements to meet the design goal. In the studied examples, it is revealed that a proper R for frames with different levels of uncertainties could be significantly different from suggested values in design codes, alarming the importance of considering the stochastic behavior of elements' nonlinear behavior.
