Iron Mossbauer spectra of Lava From Jeju Island and Its Similarities to Moon Basalts
Mullen, J.G.,Hong, Sung Rak,Haley, Guy 濟州大學校 基礎科學硏究所 1990 基礎科學硏究 Vol.3 No.1
We report the result of measurements of the ??Fe Mossbauer spectrum for powder samples of lave taken from four widely separated sites on Jeju island. The spectra consist of well defined quadrupole doublets having a 2+ charge state and indicate the presence of olivine, chinopyroxene, and ilmenite. In addition we find a six line magnetically split hyperfine pattern characteristic of impure hematite, with considerable line broadening and reduced internal field. The observed spectra have a remarkable similarity to those found for moon basalts. A recently popularized "collision ejection" model for the moon formation would be consistent with our observations. The data is a particularly simple and direct illustration of the well-known fact that the iron silicates and ilmenite found on the moon are very similar in composition and relative abundance to that found on earth.
Transfer characteristics of a lithium chloride – potassium chloride molten salt
Eve Mullen,Ross Harris,Dave Graham,Chris Rhodes,Zara Hodgson 한국원자력학회 2017 Nuclear Engineering and Technology Vol.49 No.8
Pyroprocessing is an alternative method of reprocessing spent fuel, usually involving the dissolving spent fuel in a molten salt media. The National Nuclear Laboratory designed, built, and commissioned a molten salt dynamics rig to investigate the transfer characteristics of molten lithium chlorideepotassium chloride eutectic salt. The efficacy and flow characteristics of a high-temperature centrifugal pump and argon gas lift were obtained for pumping the molten salt at temperatures up to 500℃. The rig design proved suitable on an industrial scale and transfer methods appropriate for use in future molten salt systems. Corrosion within the rig was managed, and melting techniques were optimized to reduce stresses on the rig. The results obtained improve the understanding of molten salt transport dynamics, materials, and engineering design issues and support the industrialization of molten salts pyroprocessing.
How to tackle congestion in acute heart failure
( Pieter Martens ),( Wilfried Mullens ) 대한내과학회 2018 The Korean Journal of Internal Medicine Vol.33 No.3
Acute heart failure is a common complication of chronic heart failure and is associated with a high risk for subsequent mortality and morbidity. In 90% of case acute heart failure is the resultant of congestion, a manifestation of fluid build-up due to increased filling pressures. As residual congestion at discharge following an acute heart failure episodes is one of the strongest predictors of poor outcome, the goal of therapy should be to resolve congestion completely. Important to comprehend is that increased cardiovascular filling pressures are not solely the resultant of intravascular volume excess but can also be induced by a decreased venous capacitance. This review article focusses on the pathophysiology, diagnoses, and treatment of congestion in acute heart failure. A clear distinction is made between states of volume overload (intravascular volume excess) or volume redistribution (decreased venous capacitance) contributing to congestion in acute heart failure.
한국과 미국 유아의 의사소통에서 주제 수행에 대한 비교문화 연구

This study investigated differences in the topic performance of 3-year-old Korean and American children. Sixteen mother and child dyads (8 Americans and 8 Koreans) were tape-recorded during naturally occurring conversations. The cape-recorded data were transcribed on the observational chechlist by Kertoy Vetter(1995). Korean children engaged in topic performance nearly twice as often as American children. Korean children engaged in topic termination/initiation and continuation more often than American children. Also, Korean children engaged in topic collaboration and incorporation more often than American children, but there was no difference in off-topic.

Proteolytic enzymes and ginger extract were effective on tenderising M. pectoralis profundus, resulting in higher collagen solubility, a decrease of melting denaturation temperature and WBSF compared with the control. Comparing all treatments, bromelain treatment showed to be higher for collagen solubility than other treatments, but no significant differences in onset and melting denaturation temperature of intramuscular connective tissue were found. These corresponded to WBSF results. The present study indicates that ginger extract might be effectively able to be utilised in pilot level as better alternatives to bromelain and papain for tenderisation of tough meat, such as cull cow and beef cuts with many collagen.
