In this research work, multifunctional cotton fabric comprising of UV protection, superhydrophobicity and antibacterial activity has been developed using facile pad-dry-cure method. In the first step, the concentration of repellent chemical has been optimized. Then, formulations containing nanoparticles of ZnO or TiO2 along with optimized concentration of repellent chemical and organic-inorganic binder have been applied to cotton fabric followed by the evaluation of functional properties. The surface morphology and elemental composition of treated fabric has been characterized through SEM and EDX, respectively. The treated samples have shown promising UV protection, superhydrophobicity and antibacterial properties durable upto 20 washing cycles.

Conventional AC power networks in recent decades have been in a process of continuous overhaul due to the development of power electronic devices and distributed energy resources (DER). This development has demonstrated great potential for the implementation of DC power networks and numerous effects on the employment of integrated AC/DC systems based on Voltage Source Converter (VSC) technology are underway. On the other hand, the integration of DER in a distribution network has emerged as a durable choice for fulfilling future energy need. In this study, a load flow analysis is performed on a Voltage Source Converter-Multi terminal DC (VSC-MTDC) based AC/DC Distribution system incorporated with DERs. An IEEE 14 bus distribution network was modified to include a VSC-MTDC network model for the implementation of the Newton-Raphson load flow algorithm. This paper also discussed the mathematical models for VSC, AC and DC networks along with the load flow study of the steady-state change in the AC/DC network as a result of converter and DC line outage.

Low voltage DC (LVDC) distribution systems are gaining attention as customer loads are shifting towards power electronics-based equipment. The DC distribution system has the advantage of supplying power to these power electronic-based loads with high efficiency and without undergoing an energy conversion process. However, the power electronic components used in the LVDC distribution system are vulnerable during short-circuit faults. These components must be protected during the short-circuit faults for a safe and reliable operation. Therefore, this paper proposes a protection technique based on DC short-circuit fault current behavior. The fault is detected via a superposition principle. A fault current limiter (FCL) is used to suppress DC fault strength and reduce the stress from the circuit breaker. Finally, a solid state circuit breaker (SSCB) is used to isolate the fault point. The simulation results show that the proposed protection Scheme operates quickly enough as per expectations to avoid damage to sensitive power electronic devices.
Natural resource management: A systematic literature review
Asif, Muhammad,Zaman, Khalid,Khan, Khan Burhan Techno-Press 2020 Advances in environmental research Vol.9 No.4
The earlier literature widely documented the role of natural resources in economic development and confined their findings either in support of resource blessing growth or resource curse hypothesis. The ample research on the stated theme has available in the relevant databases, supported with empirical data, while a few studies used a case study or mixed-method approach. The study identified plenty of room on a given topic by conducting a systematic literature review and synthesizing the literature in more meaningful inferences. After a thorough investigation of the literature review through systematic intervention, the study concludes that natural resource management is imperative for a country's sustained growth. Simultaneously, it is desirable to reduce resource conflicts, improve institutional performance, decrease corruption, and stabilize the political environment to get maximum natural resource management potential globally.

Hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN)-based composites have been gaining prominence due to their versatile and significantly improved properties. For example they have good strength, better thermal conductivity, excellent resistance to thermal shocks and high temperatures, molten metal erosion resistance, ablation resistance, excellent machinability, good lubricating and chemical inertness. Owing to its excellent comprehensive properties, h-BN has significant potential applications in the fields of electronics, machinery, aerospace, nuclear energy, and metallurgy. Current article, first tries to critically review the literature, mainly published in the last decade, exploring the peculiar crystal structure and enhanced properties of h-BN and then various h-BN-based ceramics and its composites with oxides, nitrides, carbides, metals, and complex ceramics have been discussed based on their fabrication methods, mechanical properties, and the resultant applications. As per the reviewed results, hot pressing results in enhanced mechanical properties such as fracture toughness and flexural strength owing to the incorporation of BN by in situ reaction, which prevents BN agglomeration and reduces the size and quantity of defects. In contrast, the pressureless sintering method is reported to cause poor mechanical properties as compared to other fabrication methods of h-BN ceramics due to large porosity and poor bonding between h-BN grains caused by the forming of card room structure. Consequently, the green body's shrinkage is obstructed, and the expansion is occurred during the sintering process. All these aspects have been discussed in detail and they are the part of this review article.

This work describes the practicability of utilizing bentonite clay as a cheap and raw support for heterogeneouscatalyst development. In the current research, ammonium persulfate (APS) impregnated bentonite heterogeneouscatalyst was designed for the conversion of waste cooking oil to biodiesel. The fabricated catalyst was analyzed byvarious instrumental techniques (FTIR, TGA, BET, SEM, XRD, and EDX) to study its various physiochemical properties. It was identified that the clay supported heterogeneous catalyst executed an excellent activity for waste cooking oilconversion as providing maximum biodiesel yield of 93% at optimal reaction conditions (reaction temperature 75 oC,oil/methanol molar ratio, 1 : 10; catalyst amount, 2.5 wt%; stirring rate, 600-rpm in 3.5 hr reaction time). Gas chromatographymass spectroscopy (GCMS) analysis confirms the successful conversion to biodiesel. Similarly, the variousphysiochemical characteristics of the synthesized biodiesel meet the international standard of American (ASTM6751)and European Union (EU-14214). Moreover, the designed acid catalyst showed catalytic activity for up to eight consecutiveruns demonstrate its good reusability.

This empirical research is aimed at testing the relationship of the big five personality traits namely openness to experience, extraversion, consciousness, agreeableness, neuroticism, and risk aversion with the investment intention of individual investors belonging to Balochistan, Pakistan. The primary data is collected through a self-administered questionnaire (a structured form that consists of a series of closed-ended and open-ended questions) from a sample of 397 active individual investors belonging to different districts of the province. The data is empirically analyzed by applying the Partial Least Square (PLS) path modeling technique by using the estimation package available in Smart-PLS. The findings of this study suggest that all the variables are statistically significant with investors' investment intention with risk aversion as the strongest predictor. Moreover, openness to experience, extraversion, consciousness, agreeableness, and risk are significantly and positively related to an investor's investment intention, whereas neuroticism is negatively related to an investor's investment intention. The results extended by this study can be used by financial planners and investment bankers to channelize the available financial resources in diversified portfolios. The results will help financial planners to make available diverse investment alternatives for investors in Balochistan, thus catering to their unique needs. Academia must offer courses on contemporary finance paradigm based on behavioral finance to enable future business graduates to make wise financial decisions.
